Course Project: “Layers of Me”: My Humanitarian Professional Profile
It is a best practice to create a professional development plan as part of a professional journey. Plans can be quite extensive, detailing everything you need to do in order to complete a degree and engage in the profession. For this Assignment, you are expected to consider one element of a professional development plan which is reflective of your self-assessment. What skills and abilities, characteristics do you possess that will make you an effective leader? In addition, how do your cultural identity and personal values fit in your aspirations to engage in this type of work?
To prepare for this Assignment:
Complete the interactive media, “Layers of Me: Skills and Abilities.”
Using a scale of 1–10 (1 being the lowest rating and 10 being the highest), assign yourself a score for each of the following questions:
How would you rate your leadership skills?
How would you rate your interpersonal skills (e.g., empathy, listening, sharing, caring)?
How would you rate your oral and written communication skills?
How would you rate your collaboration skills? (Do you work well with others? Are you a team player?)
How would you rate your stress-management skills?
How would you rate your level of perseverance?
How well do you respond to disappointment and frustration?
How would you rate your optimism?
How would you rate your negotiation skills?
After you have completed your self-assessment, review your blog posts throughout the course. Combine your assessment information to create your own professional profile. This is only the start in developing this profile; however, it will give you a better understanding of who you are as a humanitarian professional, what you hope to do within this field of work, and how you will affect social change.
To complete the Assignment:
Create a 4- to 5-page paper assembling all the assessment data you gathered throughout the course. Summarize the data and describe yourself as a humanitarian professional. Include the following:
The skills and characteristics you possess that will allow you to be effective in your role
An explanation of the role your cultural identity will play in your success as a humanitarian professional and your ability to demonstrate cultural competence
How your ethics and values will guide you in your future work
How your profile fits in with your professional goals

Many athletes and coaches are confused about the role of sports psychology in improving athletic performance. Sports psychology is part of the larger field of sport science and studies human behavior in the sport environment and the benefits of mental training on enhancing sports performance. The goal of sports psychology is to help athletes and teams perform their best by improving the necessary mental skills to excel in a sporting endeavor. Sports Psychology is not about working with problem athletes or abnormal behavior.

Theorists such as Freud, Piaget, Vygotsky, and Erikson, have been studying child development for decades. These notable figures have contributed significantly to the study of child development. Understanding the basic theoretical tenants will deepen your professional knowledge of how young children develop and how that relates to your work with children. Chapter 16: Stress Management and Personal Productivity
Chapter 17: Job Search and Career Management Skills
Unit Lesson
Chapter 16 discusses stress (specifically, its symptoms and consequences), personality factors and job
factors, attitudes and values, work habits and skills, and timewasters. In the textbook, stress is identified as
an adaptive response or reaction that is the result of any deed, circumstances, or occurrence (stressors) that
places distinct burdens on a person. A stressor is “an external or internal force that brings about the stress”
(DuBrin, 2015, p. 379). Examples are social stress, work stress, financial stress, family stress, and health
stress. “Individual differences in the perception of an event play a key role in determining what events are
stressful” (DuBrin, 2015, p. 379).

Title
Symptoms and Consequences of Stress
Stress can be good or bad depending upon an individual’s perception and reaction to the event or stressor.
There are three different types of physiological changes associated with stress, including physiological
reactions, job performance consequences, and burnout stress. The readings identify individual specifics for
each. Stress can come in many different forms, so begin with identifying the cause of stress. The symptoms
of stress can fall into two categories: physical or physiological and emotional or behavioral. You can view
ways to identify with some of the specific symptoms of stress in the textbook readings.
Also, the textbook reading identifies some steps that can assist in not allowing stressful situations to get the
best of you. There are ways to deal with stress such as taking deep breathes, stepping away from the
situation, and remaining calm, among others; however, you can identify some additional ways to deal with
stress in the work environment from the chapter reading.
Stress in the work environment plays a crucial role in the success of an organization. Of course, there is no
such thing as a stress-free work environment, but the stress levels can be minimized and managed.
Organizations can offer breaks as needed such as time-off, counseling, and training as part of a strategy to
help individuals handle stress in a healthy way. Some organizations have adopted the following methods in
dealing with stress in the work environment:
1. team exercises or engagement (morale boosters),
2. competitions between departments (e.g., plant growing competitions and cook-offs), ...

Case Study #1
Why do we go through the strategic planning process for organizations, but don’t consider developing our own strategic plan? Without clarity about the direction you are headed, you may not achieve the things you want to in life. A meaningful, clear image of the future can motivate you to reach higher, think bigger, and take-on whatever comes your way. A strategic plan is designed to help you establish and achieve your life goals, shaping and guiding who you are, where you are going, what you do, and how, when and why you do it. All of this is done with a focus on the future. The first step to creating a strategic plan requires setting aside time to critically thinking about you. Before answering the case study questions, spend some time thinking about each of the following questions below and jot down things that come to mind.
Who am I, and why am I here?
Who do I want to be in the future … in 5 years… in 10 years?
What did I dream of becoming?
What do I value that gives real happiness?
What am I passionate about that gives meaning to life?
What things do I really enjoy doing?
What is important to me in life, both personally and professionally?
What am I doing when I feel my best?
What is it that I believe so strongly in that I would be willing to die for?
What are my strengths and weaknesses? What skills do I have?
With regard to money, how much is enough? If I have more, what will the excess be used for?
What do you want to contribute?
What do I want to be remembered for?
After thinking about your answer to the questions above, apply the course material and the OA videos on Strategic Management to answer the following questions. The rubric is included at the end of the document (see below). To get full credit, you must go over and above to demonstrate critical thinking, forethought, and creativity, a solid understanding of strategic management principles and application, and well-articulated and defined plan. Note: Your responses should be 3 pages, with 1-inch margins on each side, Times New Roman 12-point font, and double-spaced. If you chose to use outside ma.
