People are able to have conversations over the Internet that were not possible during the era of mass media where companies controlled conversations. Hyperlinks promote fairness and equality unlike hierarchies that promote control and power. People are speaking to each other in powerful new ways over networks, whether in markets or as employees. These networked conversations enable new forms of social organization and knowledge exchange to emerge as people share ideas, opinions, and experiences. As a result, markets are becoming smarter and more informed as people's participation changes them fundamentally. People in networked markets realize they get better information from each other rather than from vendors, and there are no secrets as the network knows more than companies about their own products.
