Data, Technology, and Innovation: Platform for ChangeCisco Canada
The topic is “change”. Many things around us cause organizations to rethink how they work and provide the best possible resources for their workforce. Globalization, economy, environment, and talent mismatch are merely a few influence factors that are changing today’s workplace. Among the greatest catalysts of change we witness the rise and expansion of the Internet and the information society. The Internet is only 20 years old and has had—and will be having—a profound impact on everything we do. Work, workplace, and businesses are affected by the transformational changes caused by networks, information technology, and the Internet. This presentation addresses the technology changes and their consequent impact on work and workplaces. It talks about how the Internet can have a positive influence on change and the organizations of the future.

SP Virtual Managed Services (VMS) for Intelligent WAN (IWAN)Cisco Canada
Many organizations anticipate significant growth in WAN bandwidth and Public Cloud usage. Leveraging the Internet to provide extra WAN bandwidth and to offload Public Cloud traffic is compelling, however network reliability, application performance and security are the primary roadblocks. Cisco IWAN transport solution is the most full featured architecture to support the Software Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) requirements that are emerging in standards bodies like the Open Networking User Group (ONUG) to address these issues. Many enterprises are looking for the benefits these technologies deliver, but without the costs associated with owning and operating those technologies. Here is where VMS for IWAN meets market need. Cisco VMS is a full featured management platform for both virtual and physical devices. This session will cover a full description of the VMS platform and how it can be used to deliver exceptional customer experience when supporting a managed offering of IWAN. The roles of Customer and Resource Facing Services will be covered, along with integration between the IWAN service and SP operations. This session will also cover the topic of how Virtual Network Functions (VNFs) can be placed optimally in the network from the CPE to SP datacenter, along with a demo of the end user and operator experience.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

SOUND BITE: The rules of the game are changing, and companies must move beyond the basic first step of BYOD connectivity to meet employee expectations
Cisco’s own CIO Rebecca Jacobi said that the challenge is more than just getting users on the network, it’s about what users can do once they are on the network.
On March 20th Cisco is introducing a set of capabilities across the broad wireless infrastructure, security and policy, network management, and more to address these expectations.
We are firing on all cylinders enhancing every aspect in the overall solution…

Now, the shopper sees a dress on sale that she likes, and decides to buy. Goes to retail clerk to purchase.
This retailer has moved the point-of-sale application into a virtual private cloud to reduce footprint in the store, but need to provides secure connectivity to that application for security and PCI compliance. Does this with CSR running in the VPC, provides secure, authenticated, encrypted access from ISR in branch to CSR in Cloud, connecting back to POS application.
After helping the store clerk with his refinancing option, the refinancing agent goes a distance learning school to teach a new batch of recently joined bank employees on real estate and financing
When the class begins, she multicasts a video on refinancing to the 100+ students seated in the lecture hall and to the remote students logged it from other branch offices. ISR G2 videoconferencing along with FlexVPN on ASR 1002 X provides a secure and scalable way of distributing video while WAAS with context-aware DRE and AppNav scales and optimizes the video experience across all these remote sites
With this unique and innovative approach to making the network cloud-ready, the Cloud Connect Solution can:
Improve cloud application performance by up to 70% (WAAS for cloud services)
Have 99.9999% up time for your cloud-based security solutions (Ironport)
Reduce deployment and troubleshooting time by up to 62% (Cisco Prime)
Reduce infrastructure cost through consolidation by up to 58% (ISR, ASR integrated services and device consolidation)
