This document summarizes the current state of knowledge on climate change from the WTO-UNEP Trade and Climate Change Report. It finds that warming of the climate is unequivocal, largely due to human-caused greenhouse gas emissions. If emissions continue at high rates, global temperatures could rise 4-6°C by 2100. Impacts are already apparent worldwide and include increased extreme weather, sea level rise, and effects on agriculture and ecosystems. Both mitigation to reduce emissions and adaptation to unavoidable impacts will be needed. Approaches include energy efficiency, renewable energy, forestry protection, and climate-resilient development.
