Climate change is causing increased wildfires, droughts, and insect outbreaks which are linked to rising global temperatures that are the second warmest on record. Additional concerns include declining water supplies, reduced crop yields, more extreme heat in cities, and coastal flooding and erosion. Human activities such as burning fossil fuels for power and transportation, deforestation, fertilizer use, and oil and gas drilling are contributing to increased temperatures. While global warming cannot be stopped immediately, limiting emissions of heat-trapping gases and soot can help slow the rate of rising temperatures.
