The arctic wolf lives in family packs of 7-10 members in the arctic. They have a complex social hierarchy with an alpha male and female leading the pack. All members help take care of and feed the 4-5 pups born each year. Arctic wolves hunt in packs, preying mainly on arctic hares, musk ox, caribou, and lemmings. Despite historical threats from humans, the arctic wolf population has remained stable due to their remote habitat.
