Introduction
• Clean India Mission is a national level campaign by
the Government of India, covering 4041 statutory
towns to clean the streets, roads and infrastructure
of the country.
• This campaign was officially launched on 2 October
2014 at Rajghat, New Delhi, where Prime Minister
Narendra Modi himself wielded broom and cleaned a
road. The campaign is India's biggest ever cleanliness
drive and 3 million government employees and
schools and colleges students of India participated in
this event.
Objectives
• This campaign aims to accomplish the vision of
'Clean India' by 2 October 2019, 150th birthday of
Mahatma Gandhi and is expected to cost over 62000
crore (US$9.7 billion).
• 100% collection and scientific processing/disposal
reuse/recycle of Municipal Solid Waste.
• To generate awareness among the citizens about
sanitation and its linkages with public health.
• To eliminate open defecation.
Nominees
• Sir Narendra Modi nominates nine public
figures to propagate this campaign and they
are:-

2. Baba Ramdev
3. Kamal Hassan
4. Mridula Sinha
5. Priyanka Chopra
6. Sachin Tendulkar
7. Salman Khan
8. Shashi Tharoor
9. The Team of TV series

Swachh Bharat Short Film
• NIT Rourkela PHD students have made a short film
On Swachh Bharat and they conveyed the message
that Swachh Bharat is not a one day event, it should
be part of our life, then only we can achieve our goal
Swachh Bharat (Clean India).
