CLASSIFICATION OF CAVITIES FOR
AMALGAM RESTORATION
According to Dr.G.V. Black’s Classification: -
CLASS-I: -Lesions are pit and fissure caries on the
occlusal surfaces of premolars and molars, the occlusal
two-third of the buccal and lingual surfaces of molars, and
the lingual surfaces of maxillary incisors.
CLASS-II: -Lesions are found on the proximal surfaces of
bicuspids and molars.
CLASS-III: -Lesions are found on the proximal surfaces of
anterior teeth that do not involve the incisal angle.
CLASS-IV: -Lesions are found on the proximal surfaces of
anterior teeth that involves incisal angles.
CLASS-V: -Lesions are found on the gingival third of the
facial and lingual surfaces of all the teeth.
ACCORDING TO W.J. SIMON’S
MODIFICATION OF DR.G.V. BLACK’S
CLASSIFICATION : -
CLASS-VI: - Lesions are found on the incisal edges
and cusp tips.
