OpenNebulaconf2017US: Hybrid clouds dancing with virtual machines by Jordi Gu...OpenNebula Project
Today, the model of hybrid cloud comes under the eyes of a lot of organizations. The idea of combining resources of public cloud providers with private depending on the terms of execution, the need of more resources, an extra protection of the data, more or less security in services with sensitive information, etc. are some of the capabilities that this model has to answer. The case of CSUC, acting as cloud provider and at the same time as user of external IaaS and PaaS services, is analyzed sharing its first experiences in the way to archive a real multicloud architecture to provide services for catalan universities and research institutions.
OpenNebulaconf2017US: Using docker with OpenNebula by Jaime Melis, OpenNebulaOpenNebula Project
Introduction to OpenNebula’s integration with Docker-Machine, or how to run dockers in your Cloud without breaking a sweat.
OpenNebula works as a provider for Docker Swarm, which enables a user friendly Docker development workflow that abstracts the developer from the IaaS requirements.
In this talk we will also discuss the current integration with Rancher.
We will end with an open discussion about what the future awaits for Docker in OpenNebula.
OpenNebulaconf2017US: Orchestration of vMware datacenters with OpenNebula by ...OpenNebula Project
OpenNebula management of vCenter based infrastructures allows for datacenter federation provided network quality requirements are met. In this session a use case will be explained to introduce this scenario in real world infrastructures. Also, OpenNebula 5.4 brings a lot of new functionality for vCenter management that will be explained. Lastly, vOneCloud, an OVA encapsulated version of OpenNebula tailored for VMware infrastructures will be presented as well.

Ceph & OpenStack talk given @ OpenStack Meetup @ Bangalore, June 2015Deepak Shetty
Talk that showcases the advantages of using Ceph as the storage of choice in openstack. It shows how Ceph integrates with all openstack storage services and the adv of using Ceph as __the__ Unified Storage solution for Openstack
Performant and Resilient Storage: The Open Source & Linux WayOpenNebula Project
OpenNebula users have a range of storage options available to them, including proprietary appliances, proprietary software and Open Source software projects. This session will present a fully Open Source approach, that tightly integrates with Linux, and makes full use of the mature building blocks within the Linux kernel (LVM, Software RAID, DM-crypt, NVMe-oF Target, DRBD, etc...), and delivers one of the highest performance open source storage stacks currently available. The core goal is to expose the improved performance of NVMe storage devices to VMs and containers. The solution covers both local NVMe drives and NVMe-oF. For interacting with NVMe-oF targets it supports the Swordfish-API and LVM & Linux’s software NVMe-oF target. The solution contains a storage addon for OpenNebula.

OpenNebula Conf 2014 | Understanding the OpenNebula Model for Cloud Provision...NETWAYS
OpenNebula’s quest for simplicity touches every aspect of the software, and one of the greater effort has been put into the provisioning model. A smooth experience for users entails a proper design of the concepts, ironing out the flow of day to day operations, as well as proper tools for the administrators to manage its cloud.
For this reason, OpenNebula features Virtual Datacenters (vDCs), which are containers for the execution of virtual machines, as well as a way of hiding physical resources from group members. Three actors are identified in this model: the cloud administrator, the vDC administrator and the end user. In this talk we will see how this vDCs are created, how physical resources are associated to them and administrators of the vDCs are managed and given permissions. All this topped with an excellent interface, the Cloud View, adapted for each of the actors.
Cloud Computing Architecture with Open Nebula - HPC Cloud Use Cases - NASA A...Ignacio M. Llorente
OpenNebula is a fully open-source cloud management platform, with excellent performance and scalability to manage tens of thousands of virtual machines, and with the most advanced functionality for building virtualized enterprise data centers and private cloud infrastructures. OpenNebula is the result of many years of research and development in efficient and scalable management of virtual machines on large-scale distributed infrastructures. Its innovative features have been developed to address the requirements of business use cases from leading companies in the context of flagship international projects in cloud computing. OpenNebula is being used by many supercomputing and leading research centers to build HPC and science clouds for hosting virtualized computational environments, such as batch farms and computing clusters, or for providing users with new "HPC as a service" resource provisioning models. Docker is an open platform for building, shipping and running distributed applications. It gives programmers, development teams and operations engineers the common toolbox they need to take advantage of the distributed and networked nature of modern applications.
Docker is a tool designed to make it easier to create, deploy, and run applications
by using containers. Containers allow a developer to package up
an application with all of the parts it needs, such as libraries and other dependencies,
and ship it all out as one package. By doing so, thanks to the
container, the developer can rest assured that the application will run on
any other Linux machine regardless of any customized settings that machine
might have that could differ from the machine used for writing and testing
the code.
In a way, Docker is a bit like a virtual machine. But unlike a virtual
machine, rather than creating a whole virtual operating system, Docker allows
applications to use the same Linux kernel as the system that they’re
running on and only requires applications be shipped with things not already
running on the host computer. This gives a significant performance boost
and reduces the size of the application.
XenServer Virtualization In Cloud EnvironmentsTim Mackey

XenServer is a virtualization platform which has been deployed in a variety of industries and to support a multitude of workloads. In this session we discuss some of the components which make it valuable not just for traditional server and desktop virtualization, but also within "the cloud". This includes discussion of VM density, network scalability, containers (such as Docker) and GPU virtualization. We end with coverage of how XenServer templates are represented within Apache CloudStack.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.
