This document is a thesis project submitted by Ildefonso Montero Pérez to the University of Sevilla for the degree of PhD in Computer Engineering. The thesis aims to provide a methodological framework to obtain the core architecture of business information system families in order to maximize reuse and manage variability in process definitions across different business units of an organization. The framework is meant to address current issues where different versions of business processes are not systematically linked to the original core processes, leading to problems in maintenance and inaccurate execution of business strategies. The thesis will validate the proposed framework through a case study.
This document summarizes a group project report on the challenges and potential solutions of computer-based assessments. The group created their own numerical reasoning test to gather data and analyze how participants performed. Their objectives were to research different learning types and develop an adaptive test that provided feedback. Key findings from their test supported existing hypotheses, including that different learner types perform differently and current assessments need improved feedback. The report provides recommendations to improve online tests and better accommodate all learners.
This document provides an introduction and table of contents for a book titled "Computational Thinking: A Primer for Programmers and Data Scientists". The book aims to introduce computational thinking concepts to laypeople through hands-on examples and exercises using sample datasets. It is organized into three parts covering foundational computational thinking topics, applications for data science, and more advanced concepts. An interactive digital version will also be released to provide hands-on practice of problem solutions.

The document describes a project to predict student demand for an online language teaching company. It aims to generate predicted weekly lesson schedules for new students based on their timezone and company data, to help the company balance teacher hiring. The author analyzes past student data to explore patterns in lesson times by timezone. Various predictive models are tested and evaluated using mean absolute error between actual and predicted lesson buckets over time. The best model is selected to minimize error in predicting unseen monthly data.
This thesis examines tacit knowledge transfer in high reliability organizations (HROs). The author conducted action research in a mainframe organization to test if an interactive media platform could improve capturing and transferring tacit knowledge.

Solar Dukkan is a Turkish startup company that sells solar power products and systems. It aims to target two market segments - online shopping customers and professional installers. The online market is growing with 5 million potential customers, while the professional install market is expected to increase after November 2012. The company is led by Christian Wagner and Yusuf Aytekin, who both have engineering backgrounds and experience in renewable energy projects. However, the diagnosis identifies some implicit problems, including a lack of information systems to manage operations and customers as the business grows. The ThinkTank will discuss ways to better understand these issues and potential solutions.

Aligning IT and Business Strategies - Study NotesOxfordCambridge
The document discusses aligning IT and business strategies. It notes that IT and business are often disconnected, with IT seen as a separate entity rather than integral to business strategy. This is counterproductive. The document recommends that IT professionals understand organizations' strategic goals, value chains, and how these impact decisions. Effective collaboration strategies can bridge knowledge gaps between IT and business. An enterprise architecture approach can also better align IT and business strategies.
In many organisations, business and IT are at odd with one another, instead of establishing a cooperating ground to remove the divide between themselves.
For that reason, IT professionals and managers need to better understand the strategic goals of their organisation.
IT professionals and managers ought to understand that effective collaboration strategies, between IT and business, will lead bridging the knowledge gaps and differences between them.
Furthermore, IT professionals and managers need to discover how an enterprise architecture approach to an organisation's planning will result in better alignment between IT and business strategies.

Introduction
What is Human Resource?
Human resources is used to describe both the people who work for a
company or organization and the department responsible for managing
resources related to employees. The term human resources was first
coined in the 1960s when the value of labor relations began to garner
attention and when notions such as motivation, organizational behavior,
and selection assessments began to take shape.
Human resource management is a contemporary, umbrella term used to describe
the management and development of employees in an organization. Also called
personnel or talent management (although these terms are a bit antiquated), human
resource management involves overseeing all things related to managing an
organization’s human capital.
Human resource management is therefore focused on a number of major
areas, including:
• Recruiting and staffing
• Compensation and benefits
• Training and learning
• Labor and employee relations
• Organization development
