Scenario is changing. The role of an IT department as well as CIO is getting transformed day by day. The dilemma between multiple strategies are being prominent and creating further challenges. IT partners also need to realize the same.
The document outlines the top 10 IT trends and priorities for 2014 that CIOs should focus on to maximize their impact, including: choosing the right technology partners, attracting and retaining skills, cybersecurity and governance, enabling BYOD and mobile apps, leveraging big data analytics, improving collaboration and interoperability, preparing for cloud adoption, rethinking IT spending to focus on growth, ensuring business relevance, and reducing time to service delivery. 7 Things you must do to run IT as a BusinessDoug Tedder
“Running IT as a business” is a popular thing to say, but what does it really mean to IT organizations? What are the critical things that IT organizations must do in order to run as a business? How is this different than what IT organizations are doing today?
The Importance of Good ITSM in the Digital Economy Doug Tedder
Is your company's ITSM implementation ready to take on the demands of the digital economy? Without good ITSM, your company may find itself left behind in the digital economy. Doug Tedder discusses in this presentation.
So much is being written (myself included!) about how ITSM helps an organization prepare and support digital transformation. But ITSM itself is going through digital transformation.
How will the way we approach and deliver ITSM change as a result?

The Chief Data Officer's Agenda: The Status of the Chief Data OfficerDATAVERSITY
CDOs are a hot topic of discussion, but does the reality support the hype? We spent the last few weeks talking to CDOs, and based on our research, the answer is absolutely “yes.” And then sometimes it’s also “no.” Though there is lots of prognostication about what CDOs “should” be doing, we found a lot of misinformation and misunderstanding about how the role operates in practice. The fact is that CDOs are a multi-faceted bunch. Most of them work on enterprise data strategy, but the rest of their time is highly customized to the needs of their particular organization, including analytics, data operations, and even application development. The real world of today’s CDO is varied, exciting, sometimes frustrating, and often creative! Please join John Ladley and Tony Shaw for their launch of the DATAVERSITY “Status of the CDO” Report, a thorough survey of what CDOs are doing today. We will cover topics including:
What motivates an organization to appoint a Chief Data Officer?
Who does the CDO report to?
What experience does it take to become a CDO?
Do CDOs have their own staff and budget?
How do functional responsibilities vary from industry to industry?
What are the differences between the CIO and CDO roles?
What are some of the pitfalls and unrealistic expectations for CDOs?
What issues are on the horizon for Chief Data Officers?

4. Stair Steps - Incremental changes through a series of smaller steps rather than one big transformation.
He found that globally most companies are about one-third complete in their transformations, with Australia similar at 26-38% on average across the four pathways.

Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.
