Christian beliefs about Jesus hold that he is the Son of God and part of the holy trinity. It is believed that as the incarnation of God, Jesus walked on earth and through his crucifixion and death on the cross, provided atonement for mankind's sins. Following his resurrection three days after death, Jesus ascended to heaven 40 days later and Christians believe he will return again in the future at the second coming.
