Pagans celebrate Beltane on May 1st with maypole dances symbolizing the sacred marriage of Goddess and God. Several other religious events are commemorated in May including Guru Arjan Dev's birthday in Sikhism on May 2nd, Jerusalem Day for Jews on May 12th, Ascension Day for Christians on May 13th marking Jesus' ascension to heaven, and the first day of Shavuot for Jews on May 19th marking the first harvest. Buddhist, Bahai, Christian, and Orthodox Christian holy days are also observed at the end of May including Buddha Day, the Ascension of Baha'u'llah, Pentecost, Trinity Sunday, and All Saints' Day.
