1. Chapter one of Julian McDougall’s “Media Studies: The Basics” gives me an understanding of what media is and the history behind it, as well as the reasons why it is being studied in schools today. There are two points from the chapter that McDougall writes that stand out to me. The first one is when he gives reasons as to why one should study media. McDougall (2012) writes for his third reason, “...the idea that Media Studies might want to ‘change the world’” and later writes, “... then, studying media critically ought to be considered a serious and important project for any mature democracy” (p. 8). The explanation he gives for this being a reason to study media is something I completely agree with. Media has a great impact on what a person chooses to believe in and shapes the way they view others. Studying media and the way it works allows a person to become more literate when it comes to media, which in turn allows them to become aware of what the media is portraying and acknowledge any negative underlying messages that may be present that those who are unaware of how the media works, may miss. The second point that stands out is when he writes, “Theories of creativity are becoming more important to students of media as more and more ordinary people start to make their own media” (McDougall, 2012, p. 32). YouTube comes to mind when I think about people who make their own media. YouTube is a powerful platform where “ordinary” people have their own channels and create their own videos on whatever subject they are interested in like beauty, music, film etc. They give their own ideas and opinions on any subject they want to talk about or represent while giving their audience the choice of agreeing or disagreeing with what they have just watched. McDougall asks, “If we produce our own versions of media texts but stay faithful to the conventions of ‘real media,’ is this creative or just imitation? Or is all imitation an act of parody which is always creative, a reworking of a template and its meanings?” (p. 24). I believe media such as YouTube to be an imitation of ‘real media” since users produce their own versions of media texts and shape them into fitting what they want their message to be and like McDougall writes, this imitation is a “form of parody which is always creative” (p. 24).

The final assignment for this course is a Final Paper. The purpose of the Final Paper is to give you an opportunity to apply much of what you have learned about American national government to an examination of civil liberties in the context of the war on terror. The Final Paper represents 20% of the overall course grade.
Soon after the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan in 2001, the Bush administration developed a plan for holding and interrogating captured prisoners. They were sent to a prison inside a U.S. naval base at Guantanamo Bay, on land leased from the government of Cuba. Since 2002, over 700 men have been detained at Gitmo. Most have been released without charges or turned over to other governments. In 2011, Congress specifically prohibited the expenditure of funds to transfer Gitmo prisoners to detention facilities in the continental United States, making it virtually impossible to try them in civilian courts. As of April 2012, 169 remained in detention at Gitmo (Sutton, 2012).
An assumption made by the Bush administration in selecting this location was that it was beyond the jurisdiction of U.S. courts. The administration wanted to avoid any judicial oversight of how it handled detainees, characterized as enemy combatants. A possible legal challenge to indefinite detention with no formal charges or judicial proceedings might arise from the habeas corpus provision of the Constitution.
Article I, Section 9 of the Constitution states, "The Privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion the public Safety may require it." Under this provision, persons detained by the government are entitled to a judicial hearing to determine if there is any legal basis for their detention. Introduction
After the Soviet withdrawal from Afghanistan in 1989, Afghanistan become a paradise for the Taliban regime, which was able to extend its influence within the country after coming to power. During this period, the Taliban regime adopted in its authority the fundamentalist version of Islam and enabled the creation of AL-Qaeda camps where training fighters from inside and outside the country was taking place. From Afghanistan, AL-Qaeda had been able to find the safe place for planning an attack on the United State, which was considered to be the first enemy for Bin-laden who was the leader of Al-Qaeda. Bin Laden actually was able to take the opportunity and attacked the United States by the bombing of the twin towers of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. In response to 9/11, the US launched Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) in October 2001 right after the attack. in The goal of that operation was to derive the Taliban from power and to destroy AL-Qaeda infrastructure and operations in Afghanistan. Bin Laden actually was able to take the opportunity and attacked the United States by the bombing of the twin towers of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. In response to 9/11, the US launched Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) in October 2001 right after the attack. in The goal of that operation was to derive the Taliban from power and to destroy AL-Qaeda infrastructure and operations in Afghanistan. Dance Education Overview
The educational organization to that selected for this project is New York Kids’ Club. The reason, to work with New York Kids' Club, is that teachers can provide performance dance education and dance video programs that no other staffs and organizations are offering in this New York or other states. Children can try new dance programs and challenged themselves with dance program they never learned or taken before in their relationship at the New York Kids Club and other organizations. Students can explore in several formats of performance in dance education, perform in different dance performances and help grow the organization. New York Kids’ Club business established by Tina Olivia Edwards in 2001. Mrs. Edwards is a mother of four children that developed an enrichment center for ages two months to 12 years old for all cultures and races. This organization offers programs in art, dance; combo classes, French, Fitness, Cooking, Theatre and Science subject areas. New York Kids’ Club (2008-2015) states, “These educational organizations offered these afterschool programs in 10 locations and five locations in China state. The medium community income ranged from $19,000.00 to $45,000.00 annual salaries” (New York Kids’ Club, 2008-2015). By having an MBA and soon a Master’s of Education, this organization may offer higher salaries over $45,000.00 for certain employees. It is very important to understand the past and present of educational organizations in order to determine whether or not they are using the same materials and programs, but using new materials and programs.
History including the Past and Present of Dance Education
Educational Organizations change education for Pre-K to College and non-school people from the past to the present time. New York Kids’ Club founded in the year of 2001 in New York, NY. Klerides (2014) believed, “Teaching history in the regional context and developing new approaches to teaching the history of countries on the basis of mutual respect” (Klerides, 2014, p.20).
Even since New York Kids’ Club has opened, no changes other than opening different locations. They opened at Williamsburg, then Beijing, China and later New York City. Other changes include hiring different employment opportunities in different afterschool activities ay New York Kids’ Club.
This organization should offer dance programs for ages 10-12 including dance video programs.
Overall, there should be changes in the organization of the dance programs.

A Word to the Wise:
Research refers to the material you gather from sources. Analysis refers to the USE you put to that material. That is to say, your job is to examine and present one or more ideas from that material in such a way as to make a particular point. The particular point will be related to your overall goal for the Report. It may provide evidence for a claim you are making, provide background information, address a possible objection that you think your reader might have or something else.
You are in control of the meaning your reader gets from the sources you choose.
Your own words that lead into the source (whether your source is in the form of a direct quote, paraphrase or summary) AND your own words that follow the source set up a framework that tells the reader how to understand the source. Those framing words of yours are just as important as the source you use (maybe more).
Nothing just speaks for itself.
How you plan to use sources will affect how you evaluate them. Not every source has to directly support your thesis; sources can have other functions in a paper. They can:
provide background information or context for your topic
explain terms or concepts that your readers might not understand
provide evidence for your argument
lend authority to your argument
offer alternative interpretations and counterevidence to your argument

Use
your outline to begin drafting your document. You may find that aspects have changed; that's okay. Remember that the outline is merely a working document or tool for your use. Make sure you are adhering to

Format and Length:
Follow the model in Lannon, p. 539-549. Your report will not be as long as this, but must be about six single spaced pages. Keep in mind that the Title page, Table of contents, Abstract and References are all on their own pages, which means the body of your Report will be only about two single-spaced pages
