Pakistan's economy faces many challenges that are common among developing nations. These include high levels of poverty, reliance on foreign debt, low per capita incomes, an overdependence on agriculture, and a small industrial sector. Pakistan has a population where over 20% live below the poverty line, and per capita income is just $1372. The economy relies heavily on agriculture which employs over 45% of the workforce but contributes only 21% to GDP. Industrialization has been slow, and the economy suffers from issues like unemployment, low productivity, deficits in trade and payments, and underdevelopment of natural resources. Addressing these structural problems through industrial growth and capital investment is needed to develop the economy.
