Through the help of his best friend, the boy is able to deal with his grief in a healthy way by the end. The purpose is to highlight the effects of mental health issues and how people can support each other through difficult times. Average looking characters are used to show these issues can affect anyone.

The other antagonists are also show through the indirect characterisation of their actions, voices, looks and effect on others. Famous antagonists include, the joker, Voldemort and Darth Vader .
