Map is a general picture of a part or all of the earth and it’s topography, with is drawn on
a flat area with certain scales. Based on the contains, maps divided into two type they are
general map and thematic map.
1. General map for example, in a general map there are representation of mountains,
lakes, marshes, cities, mounts, highways and railways. The example of general

2. Thematic Map, thematic map or special map is a map which shows various
topographies of an face area on the surface of the earth. For example Climatic
map, population map etc
Based on the shapes, map divided into three types, they are
1. Relief Map, relief map or three dimension map is made based on real earth
surface.
2. Flat Map, Flat Map or two dimensional map witch is made on a flat medium or a
sheet of paper, for example topographic map
3. Digital Map, digital map is a map which is presented and can be read on a
computer.
