This document discusses virtualization features provided by virtual machines (VMs). It begins by introducing objectives of understanding virtualization features and where they can be used. It then covers various cluster features like high availability and load balancing. VM features are explored like snapshots, cloning, resource management. The document aims to help readers understand virtualization technologies and their applications.
Data has become an enterprise’s most important asset. How is data stored on the cloud? How is this different from the way it is stored with traditional IT? This chapter will answer these questions.

CloudStack - Top 5 Technical Issues and TroubleshootingShapeBlue
Cloudstack Top 5 technical issues and troubleshooting. Cloudstack is a mature product in use by companies world-wide. While being associated with CloudStack development for over 5 years, Abhi has come across some technical issues that once in a while affect the CloudStack deployment. This presentation is an effort to put together top 5 such issues, analyze their symptoms, see them from CloudStack architecture perspective and from the distributed nature of cloud orchestration, then look at ways to avoid them and finally be able to troubleshoot if they occur.
Chapter 02: Introduction to compute virtualizationSsendiSamuel
Cloud computing 1.0 focused on virtualization which today has become the foundation of cloud computing. This chapter focuses on the architecture and technologies involved in compute virtualization.

Chapter 03: Network basics for cloud computingSsendiSamuel
The network consists of a variety of networking devices. In addition to the traditional physical network, the networks for a virtualized environment also include invisible networks running inside servers. This chapter will cover basic knowledge about both types of networks.
The IBM Java implementation is now virtualization aware! In modern data centres, highly virtualized systems produce a challenge for traditional Java implementations and applications designed for static systems. The IBM JVM exposes Virtualization and OS related information through a set of MXBeans. This session talks about the newly added APIs and the use cases to better optimize the JVM in the cloud.
This talk presents a number of opportunities to tune the JVM (virtualization info in javacore, JIT idle tuning etc) and also for a way to tune the middleware virtualized environments.
Learn about the Virtualization aware JVM and explore the ways to exploit this information to optimize your application for the cloud.
Your developers are asking for it. The boss is wondering how much longer it's going to take. You need to get Kubernetes up and running. This session will explore core Kubernetes concepts as it relates to our knowledge as a vSphere administrator. We will explore the differences between open source and commercialized versions of Kubernetes and take a quick look at different application deployment mechanisms. You’re going to leave with a better understanding of Kubernetes architecture and how to take the next step towards containerization.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
