Please read Chapters 12and 13 and look carefully at the illustrations. Please note that there was a significant difference between the art of Northern Europe and Southern Europe during this time. The term Renaissance means a renewal or a rebirth--in this context of the styles and ideas of the Greek and Roman (Classical) past. While both areas continued to use Christian themes, the style, or the manner in which the images are put together and presented to the viewer, differed substantially from North to South. The North continued to be quite medieval or Gothic in styles, while the South (chiefly Italy), relied heavily on its Classical (Greek and Roman) past. During this period, you will see that the human figure, especially the nude, in an echo of the Classical past, appears again in Italy. The North will come to admire and to use the nude only with Albrecht Duerer, a major German artist of the late-fifteenth and early-sixteenth centuries. He will be the first Northern artist to participate in the developing humanist and classical interests of Italy. It is with this artist that the North enters into the "spirit" and the subject matter of the Italian form of the Renaissance.

Art movements are collective titles given to art works sharing the same artistic style, ideals, timeframe and technical approach.
1. Renaissance(14th – 16th Century)
This was a period of great cultural and social change in Europe. This period was characterized by imagination, creativity and innovation. It was also a time in when the Europe’s’ classical past was being revisited and reinvigorated. A lot of inspiration from the cultural movements of Renaissance resulted from the attempts of people to imitate and improve the legacies of classical European societies like the Greece and Ancient Greece. The Renaissance as well signified break from the conformist society as well as culture of medieval Europe. It was a time when mew and inventive ideas started to spread and gain great influence.

3. Romanticism (18th – mid 19th century).
Romanticism is an intellectual or attitude orientation which was marked with numerous works of literature, music, paintings, criticism, architecture and historiography in the western civilization. It can be perceived as a rejection of the principles of order, harmony, balance, calm, balance, rationalism and idealization that was typically classicism and neoclassicism. Romanticism majorly focused on individual, irrational, subjective, personal imaginative, spontaneous, transcendental and visionary (Brookner 2000). Romanticism was characterized by a deep appreciation of the nature’s beauty, exaltation of emotions over sense of intellect and reason, a new perception of the artist as a supreme creator with creative spirits.

Five Simple Steps
I. Select the two works of art from European culture during the time period covered by this course from two different categories:
· Visual art, including sculpture, mosaics, painting, architecture, and other forms
· Literature, including poetry, a play, fiction, and other forms
· Music in what we think of as the Classical tradition (not popular or folk songs), including forms such as the suite, oratorio, mass, motet, opera, formal dance or ballet music, chorale, and so forth. Some of these works are lengthy, so you may listen to and write about a section or movement of a longer work if you choose. For example, rather than write about Handel’s entire three-hour oratorio, The Messiah, you could write about one section such as the aria, “I know that my Redeemer liveth.”
Example: In your paper, you may want to write about a sculpture (i.e., visual art) by the Classical Greek sculptor Praxiteles and a magnifcat, a choral religious work (i.e., music), by the Italian Renaissance composer Palestrina. The Eastern (Asian) landscape tradition is markedly different from that of the Western (European). Traditional Asian artists intended to evoke meditative contemplation through visual imagery using atmospheric perspective, placement, and asymmetry. Eastern works also stress a reverence for nature and often include calligraphy or poetry as part of the primary subject. What ideas do European landscapes of the same time period convey?
For this assignment, you will choose one example each of paintings that represent the Eastern and Western landscape tradition from the same time period. Art movements are collective titles given to art works sharing the same artistic style, ideals, timeframe and technical approach.
1. Renaissance(14th – 16th Century)
This was a period of great cultural and social change in Europe. This period was characterized by imagination, creativity and innovation. It was also a time in when the Europe’s’ classical past was being revisited and reinvigorated. A lot of inspiration from the cultural movements of Renaissance resulted from the attempts of people to imitate and improve the legacies of classical European societies like the Greece and Ancient Greece. The Renaissance as well signified break from the conformist society as well as culture of medieval Europe. It was a time when mew and inventive ideas started to spread and gain great influence.

2. Baroque (1600 – 1750).
This was a period of artistic style which employed exaggerated motion as well as clear and easily interpreted details of producing tension, drama, painting, theater, music, exuberance, architecture and grandeur in sculpture. It began in Rome, Italy and spread to the rest of Europe (Williams 2012).

3. Romanticism (18th – mid 19th century).
Romanticism is an intellectual or attitude orientation which was marked with numerous works of literature, music, paintings, criticism, architecture and historiography in the western civilization. It can be perceived as a rejection of the principles of order, harmony, balance, calm, balance, rationalism and idealization that was typically classicism and neoclassicism. Romanticism majorly focused on individual, irrational, subjective, personal imaginative, spontaneous, transcendental and visionary (Brookner 2000). Romanticism was characterized by a deep appreciation of the nature’s beauty, exaltation of emotions over sense of intellect and reason, a new perception of the artist as a supreme creator with creative spirits.

Five Simple Steps
I. Select the two works of art from European culture during the time period covered by this course from two different categories:
· Visual art, including sculpture, mosaics, painting, architecture, and other forms
· Literature, including poetry, a play, fiction, and other forms
· Music in what we think of as the Classical tradition (not popular or folk songs), including forms such as the suite, oratorio, mass, motet, opera, formal dance or ballet music, chorale, and so forth. Some of these works are lengthy, so you may listen to and write about a section or movement of a longer work if you choose. For example, rather than write about Handel’s entire three-hour oratorio, The Messiah, you could write about one section such as the aria, “I know that my Redeemer liveth.”
Example: In your paper, you may want to write about a sculpture (i.e., visual art) by the Classical Greek sculptor Praxiteles and a magnifcat, a choral religious work (i.e., music), by the Italian Renaissance composer Palestrina. · Discuss similarities between the two works by pointing out what they have in common in the body of your paper. This may be challenging, since we are not used to comparing, say, music with art, or architecture with poetry. But see where your ideas and imagination take you!
· Discuss differences between the two works in the body of your paper using words such as “unlike,” “whereas,” and so on. What about the two works strikes you as decidedly different? Not just the form; of course, music is different from a painting!

The Eastern (Asian) landscape tradition is markedly different from that of the Western (European). Traditional Asian artists intended to evoke meditative contemplation through visual imagery using atmospheric perspective, placement, and asymmetry. Eastern works also stress a reverence for nature and often include calligraphy or poetry as part of the primary subject. What ideas do European landscapes of the same time period convey?

It is not a shock that students are getting out of school having passed academically but with no skills to handle the duties delegated to them. In most offices, the fresh graduates from schools have no clue what they are supposed to deliver and it gets worse when they start doing the work. Their work is full of mistakes and is not straight forward. This has been happening for quite some time and the employers are really complaining since the fresh graduates are not delivering as expected. I really agree with the fact that students are passing in high school without fulfilling the requirements (Kalla, 2016).
One reason why is really support this statement is that, the confessions that these students do try to make when asked, are very terrible. Some of the things they do while in school can’t allow to have the necessary skills that are needed after school. Some of the confessions will include the doing drugs, partying a lot, and not studying. In fact, if a student is not serious with studying, this will be very hard to get the requirements that will be needed even after school (Li, 2016). These confession are clear enough that the students are more concerned with other things other than studying and getting the skills needed.
Another reason why I support that students are passing without fulfilling the requirements is that, most of their teachers are not so much into them and sometimes they even assume. Teachers at times do ignore some of the habits that are displayed by the students. Since the students are grownups, the teachers don’t flunk them and they expect them to act according to what is right. It is known that students always need to be guided, if there is a slight negligence, definitely, the students will go astray and will not be able to get the necessary requirements (Kalla, 2016).
The other reason why I am supporting this is because, even the students themselves are not happy with what they get from school. In the article, it is said that, some students are seen parading while very angry and resentful for having been passed along until they could no longer even pretend to keep up. This statement clearly shows that the students don’t get the necessary skills. When these students get employed, they do lie that they are competent hence given job. The employers at this point expect that the work be done promptly and in the right way. These students don’t even seem to put school first on their list unless they perceive something that is at stake (Gray, 2016). This is can’t allow the students to get the relevant skills.
Conclusion
It is a problem that is supposed to be addressed with a lot of effort and the necessary measures be taken. The stakeholders involved in this issue should be ready to play their roles. Parents should be in the front line to help their kids to realize the importance of the skills from school. On the other hand, teachers should not assume their responsibilities and should ...

Ceftriaxone is an antibiotic used to treat many kinds of bacterial infections, including severe or life-threatening forms such as meningitis, Acinetobacter and Enterobacter species, hemophilic influenzae (including beta lactamase producing strains), Klebsiellosis pneumoniae, organelle, Neisseria and Proteus species, and Serratia marcescens. It possesses activity against most strains of Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pneumoniae, but Staphylococcus epidermidis, methicillin-resistant strains of staphylococcus, and Enterococcus faecalis (Group D streptococci) are typically resistant. Ceftriaxone has poor activity against anaerobes. Ceftriaxone has a long serum life, time that the drug takes for its concentration in the body to reduce by half compared to other antibiotics for bacterial infections. This allows it to be taken after twelve hours in children and twenty four hours in adults. However the use of Ceftriaxone causes leads to serious side effects that include severe skin reactions. The skin reactions include burning of the eyes, swelling of face or tongue, skin pain, blistering and peeling of the skin. It also causes serious allergic reactions such as hives and breathing difficulties on individuals allergic to any of its ingredients. Ceftriaxone is commonly used in the treatment of acute gonorrhea of the lining of the uterine walls. Ceftriaxone is generally recognized to be safe and effective when administered either intravenously or intramuscularly to both adults and children as a single drug for skin and skin structure infections. An advantage of ceftriaxone over the other third-generation cephalosporins is its long serum half-life, which allows it to be given every 12 hours in children and every 24 hours in most adults. There is no question that ceftriaxone is effective for skin and soft tissue infections, particularly those caused by staphylococci and streptococci. The drug's sales to home infusion companies around the country attest to its widespread use for such infections.
The fact remains, however, that the data required to substantiate efficacy and safety for ceftriaxone or for any of the other third-generation cephalosporins are just not available in large numbers. There are some disadvantages in the use of ceftriaxone for example, the costs involved in the acquisition and administration of ceftriaxone must be weighed against its convenience in the out-patient setting. Single-dose therapy is still significantly more expensive than oral antibiotics in most areas. In addition, concern exists with the potential for the development of bacterial resistance with overuse of this agent in children. The 2 biggest contributing factors were law related; starting with the Equal Pay Act of 1963 that prohibited women from being payed less than a man while doing the same job, then the Title VII of the Civil rights act of 1964 that protected against discrimination in the hiring process based on race or sex. The third biggest contributing factor is the change in American culture that preaches education and career brooding for everyone not just men as it has been in the past. On the other hand culture is also the biggest contributor to why the gap still exists. A woman having a career is encouraged in this day in age much more than it was 50 years ago, but men are still expected to work. A stay at home husband is still viewed as taboo to some degree in American culture. The second contributor piggy backs of the first one to some degree, but child care is expensive and many people don’t want to send their kids to day care. Women are typically the ones expected to be the stay at home caregivers, and many times this affects how ambitious they are within their own career fields, many times settling for positions that will allow them to be at home often. Thirdly, is the fact that discrimination still exist, while it can be hard for some to imagine there are still people out there who refuse to work under a woman and don’t feel like they are capable of leading. As for how this can be rectified, I don’t think there is an answer to that, because I don’t necessarily think the system is broken. There will always be people who discriminate, but you would hope over time those numbers continue to become fewer. The culture of America is the culture of America, if women want to work they have all the same opportunities at their disposal, but moms will continue to be primary care givers, and husbands will continue to try and be primary bread winners. The only way to change that is to change the culture, and while I predict that the gap will continue to close further, I believe there will always remain a gap.

When reviewing the Healthy People 2020 objectives for Access to Health Services, all of their objectives are legitimate and important. All of the topics are problems in our healthcare system, however, I feel that increasing the persons with a usual care provider and increase the number of practicing care providers is the most important (Healthy People, 2018). I do not know if this is just a problem in California, or if it is nationwide, but patients in my area have an extremely difficult time finding a primary care provider, whether it is a Physician, Physicians Assistant or Nurse Practitioner. There is such a shortage in my area, that patients have to wait months to get established with a provider. Then when they are ill or have an acute problem their provider is unable to see them within a few days because there is no appointments for weeks. Most end up going to a prompt care type setting or to the emergency department. I believe that if we can increase the number of practicing care providers patients will then be able to have a usual care provider that can see them in a timely manner for more acute problems and to adequately manage the patients chronic illness, leading to fewer emergency department visits and hospitalizations.
This is one of the reasons I would like to pursue a Master's Degree and become a Family Nurse Practitioner after obtaining my BSN. I see so many patients in the Emergency Department, that are there every week for problems that would be easily treated by a physician or mid-level. Most of these patients are elderly without access to resources and are failing outpatient treatment. When you have a practitioner that can see the patient, set up in home resources and follow up, the patients outcome is likely to much more successful.
It appears that the shortage of primary care providers presents a challenge for the entire US healthcare system and is not only in my area. Historically, physicians did not present with a positive attitude when the topic of including PAs and NPs, as key players in augmenting primary care. Current medical practice has become a complex, multilayered problem, that is requiring a team approach. Physicians alone will be unlikely to meet future demands for primary care and and also specialty care. Therefore, greater attention will likely be focused on the PA and NP profession and its ability to continue to adapt to meet society's healthcare needs (Coplan, Smith & Cawley, 2017).

Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

Changes in the Human Figure in Art You likely noticed that during the two hundred years covered in this week’s study there were radical changes in how the human figure is depicted in Italy, from something that was highly stylized to an idealized form that looked more real yet was strongly influenced by the Classical Age of ancient Greece and Rome. In Northern Europe, however, depiction of the human form remained somewhat stylized. Use the textbook and/or online sources to locate and capture three works of art. one from the Early Renaissance (fourteenth century, 1300– 1399) one from the Northern European Renaissance (fifteenth century, 1400–1499) one from the Italian Renaissance (fifteenth century, 1400–1499) Your works of art must either be all paintings or all sculptures. First, place images of your selected works in a Word document. Then do the following: For each work identify: The artist
- 2. Title of the work of art The date(s) it was created The medium or materials used to create the work of art, such as oil paint, marble, etc. Where the work is located now. In a well-developed paragraph, provide at least two important historical facts about each work. In another well-developed paragraph, describe how each artist depicted the human figure, supporting your observation using art historical vocabulary from this week's reading. Then, In a 6–10-sentence concluding paragraph: Compare and contrast how the depiction of the human figure has changed. Be sure to note such things as general appearance of the figures; their body types; whether the figures have been stylized, elongated, or idealized; and whether their clothing, colors, and other visual details have changed. Based on your reading and what you learned from the historic facts you have for each work of art discuss what may have been influencing factors behind these changes.
