Please citate all information and include reference page on each part.
Part I: Family Engagement
As you begin to consider how you will engage families at the start of the new school year, it is important to reflect upon why family engagement is necessary and beneficial for children, families, and early childhood programs. Review Document #1: Blue Stream Early Learning Center Overview.
In two to three pages, do the following:
· Explain why family engagement is important for the healthy development of children and why it is essential to creating a foundation for effective early childhood practice.
· Describe at least two strategies that you would use to engage families prior to the beginning of the school year.
· Explain why you chose these strategies and how each strategy can be used to promote a respectful, reciprocal, and responsive partnership with the families.Part II: Individualized Family Communication Plans
Imagine that it is now the second week of the school year. You have received the completed Beginning of the Year Questionnaires that you sent to the children’s families as seen in the following documents:
· Document #2: Jon Hall: Beginning of the Year Questionnaire
· Document #3: Annie Xun: Beginning of the Year Questionnaire
· Document #4: Irene Segers: Beginning of the Year Questionnaire
Based on the questionnaires, create an individualized plan for how you would communicate and collaborate with each of the three children’s families.
Each of the three individualized plans should be two pages in length and include:
· An explanation of the initial method of communication you will use with the family. Explain why you chose the method for this specific family.
· A description of at least one potential obstacle you might face in communicating with the family.
· Describe at least one strategy you might use to overcome the obstacle you identified, so you can effectively communicate and collaborate with the family.
· An explanation of how you will communicate information to the family about their child’s overall development and academic progress. Provide a rationale for your choice.
· An explanation of how you will communicate to the family the opportunities for them to engage in the classroom. Provide a rationale for your choice. Include an explanation of why building a partnership with this family is essential to the healthy development of the child(ren) in this family.
· A description of at least one strategy you would use to obtain information from the family. Provide a rationale for your choice.Part III: Family Newsletter
A month has passed, and it is time to update the families on their children’s progress.
Your newsletter should should include:
· An overview of learning and development that has taken place in the classroom since the first month of school.
· A welcome to families and an invitation to volunteer or become involved in the classroom community at Blue Stream Early Childhood Center. Provide ...

A review of support available for loss in early and late pregnancy
It has been well documented that the loss of a pregnancy at any stage is an emotional and stressful time and affects every family member in some way. Some still feel that miscarriage and stillbirth, along with neonatal death, are taboo subjects as pregnancy and childbirth are seen as happy life events. This is compounded by a western culture which still struggles to talk about death openly. There are particular challenges for women who miscarry early in pregnancy as they may not have shared their news with family, friends and work colleagues but may have known of the pregnancy very early due to the sophistication of home pregnancy testing.
This report:
- Scopes what support currently exists for women and families across England who experience loss at less than 24 weeks gestation
- Scopes what support exists for women and families across England who experience loss at greater than 24 weeks gestation
- Scopes what support exists for stillbirth, pre and post-delivery, identifies the key charities involved in this and determines what they offer
- Identifies areas of good practice, soft intelligence and stories from women with experience of loss.

Changes in the Human Figure in Art
You likely noticed that during the two hundred years covered in this week’s study there were radical changes in how the human figure is depicted in Italy, from something that was highly stylized to an idealized form that looked more real yet was strongly influenced by the Classical Age of ancient Greece and Rome. In Northern Europe, however, depiction of the human form remained somewhat stylized.
Use the textbook and/or online sources to locate and capture three works of art.
one from the Early Renaissance (fourteenth century, 1300–1399)
one from the Northern European Renaissance (fifteenth century, 1400–1499)
one from the Italian Renaissance (fifteenth century, 1400–1499)
Your works of art must either be all paintings or all sculptures.
First, place images of your selected works in a Word document. Then do the following:
For each work identify:
The artist
Title of the work of art
The date(s) it was created
The medium or materials used to create the work of art, such as oil paint, marble, etc.
Where the work is located now.
In a
well-developed
paragraph, provide at least two important historical facts about each work.
In another well-developed paragraph, describe how each artist depicted the human figure, supporting your observation using art historical vocabulary from this week's reading.
Then, In a 6–10-sentence concluding paragraph:
Compare and contrast how the depiction of the human figure has changed. Be sure to note such things as general appearance of the figures; their body types; whether the figures have been stylized, elongated, or idealized; and whether their clothing, colors, and other visual details have changed.
Based on your reading and what you learned from the historic facts you have for each work of art discuss what may have been influencing factors behind these changes.
Offer a citation of your sources for each image and the information provided as appropriate.

Introduction
It is not a shock that students are getting out of school having passed academically but with no skills to handle the duties delegated to them. In most offices, the fresh graduates from schools have no clue what they are supposed to deliver and it gets worse when they start doing the work. Their work is full of mistakes and is not straight forward. This has been happening for quite some time and the employers are really complaining since the fresh graduates are not delivering as expected. I really agree with the fact that students are passing in high school without fulfilling the requirements (Kalla, 2016).
One reason why is really support this statement is that, the confessions that these students do try to make when asked, are very terrible. Some of the things they do while in school can’t allow to have the necessary skills that are needed after school. Some of the confessions will include the doing drugs, partying a lot, and not studying. In fact, if a student is not serious with studying, this will be very hard to get the requirements that will be needed even after school (Li, 2016). These confession are clear enough that the students are more concerned with other things other than studying and getting the skills needed.
Another reason why I support that students are passing without fulfilling the requirements is that, most of their teachers are not so much into them and sometimes they even assume. Teachers at times do ignore some of the habits that are displayed by the students. Since the students are grownups, the teachers don’t flunk them and they expect them to act according to what is right. It is known that students always need to be guided, if there is a slight negligence, definitely, the students will go astray and will not be able to get the necessary requirements (Kalla, 2016).
The other reason why I am supporting this is because, even the students themselves are not happy with what they get from school. In the article, it is said that, some students are seen parading while very angry and resentful for having been passed along until they could no longer even pretend to keep up. This statement clearly shows that the students don’t get the necessary skills. When these students get employed, they do lie that they are competent hence given job. The employers at this point expect that the work be done promptly and in the right way. These students don’t even seem to put school first on their list unless they perceive something that is at stake (Gray, 2016). This is can’t allow the students to get the relevant skills.
Conclusion
It is a problem that is supposed to be addressed with a lot of effort and the necessary measures be taken. The stakeholders involved in this issue should be ready to play their roles. Parents should be in the front line to help their kids to realize the importance of the skills from school. On the other hand, teachers should not assume their responsibilities and should ...

Changes in the radiation balance in summer and winter
We discussed in the lecture that different parts of the earth can have different radiation characteristics. As shown in the lecture, the heating/cooling of the earth’s atmosphere can be represented by the following symbolic equation:
{total heating} = {amount of heating from the sun} + {amount of heating from the radiation from the earth} + {amount of sensible heat} + {amount of latent heat}
Because the amount of insolation changes with season, the net amount of heating may also change.
1. Discuss how each of the terms in the above equation might differ (increase, decrease or no change) between the summer (i.e. June, July and August) and winter (i.e. December, January and February) seasons for the atmosphere above the following types of the earth surface:
a) land surface in the far northern part of Russia [i.e. north of the Arctic Circle (66.5oN)]
b) Indian Peninsula
c) Hong Kong The discussion should include an explanation of why you think such a change would occur based on what we have discussed in the lecture.
2. Human activities will change the land surface properties. Discuss how each of the following activities may change one or more of the terms in the above equation at that location:
a) converting farmland to a residential area
b) filling up lakes for housing development
c) logging in forests Changes in the balance of carbon due to human activities
3. In the hydrosphere, biosphere and geosphere, certain processes can be changed by human activities, and thus change the balance of carbon. Choose one process from each category and suggest how it might be changed by human activities, and what effect such a change will have on the balance of carbon (i.e. whether it will cause an increase or decrease in the amount of carbon in the atmosphere)

Ceftriaxone uses, advantages and disadvantages.
Yuritza Medina
Florida National University
Ceftriaxone is an antibiotic used to treat many kinds of bacterial infections, including severe or life-threatening forms such as meningitis, Acinetobacter and Enterobacter species, hemophilic influenzae (including beta lactamase producing strains), Klebsiellosis pneumoniae, organelle, Neisseria and Proteus species, and Serratia marcescens. It possesses activity against most strains of Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pneumoniae, but Staphylococcus epidermidis, methicillin-resistant strains of staphylococcus, and Enterococcus faecalis (Group D streptococci) are typically resistant. Ceftriaxone has poor activity against anaerobes. Ceftriaxone has a long serum life, time that the drug takes for its concentration in the body to reduce by half compared to other antibiotics for bacterial infections. This allows it to be taken after twelve hours in children and twenty four hours in adults. However the use of Ceftriaxone causes leads to serious side effects that include severe skin reactions. The skin reactions include burning of the eyes, swelling of face or tongue, skin pain, blistering and peeling of the skin. It also causes serious allergic reactions such as hives and breathing difficulties on individuals allergic to any of its ingredients. Ceftriaxone is commonly used in the treatment of acute gonorrhea of the lining of the uterine walls. Ceftriaxone is generally recognized to be safe and effective when administered either intravenously or intramuscularly to both adults and children as a single drug for skin and skin structure infections. An advantage of ceftriaxone over the other third-generation cephalosporins is its long serum half-life, which allows it to be given every 12 hours in children and every 24 hours in most adults. There is no question that ceftriaxone is effective for skin and soft tissue infections, particularly those caused by staphylococci and streptococci. The drug's sales to home infusion companies around the country attest to its widespread use for such infections.
The fact remains, however, that the data required to substantiate efficacy and safety for ceftriaxone or for any of the other third-generation cephalosporins are just not available in large numbers. There are some disadvantages in the use of ceftriaxone for example, the costs involved in the acquisition and administration of ceftriaxone must be weighed against its convenience in the out-patient setting. Single-dose therapy is still significantly more expensive than oral antibiotics in most areas. In addition, concern exists with the potential for the development of bacterial resistance with overuse of this agent in children. Issues such as these must be more fully evaluated before clinicians adopt the wide-spread use of ceftriaxone for relatively self-limiting conditions such as otitis media. Ceftriaxone is poorly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and must ...
Change is considered by many as the new normal. Effective change manogglili
Change is considered by many as the new normal. Effective change management must be part of an organization’s DNA. An emerging leadership style called the transformational style has been shown to be effective in this environment, especially in leading change. This form of leadership goes beyond traditional forms of leadership which relied mainly on centralized control. It emphasizes more open communication, collaboration, and participation by employees.
Using the online library resources, and the Internet, research the transformational style of leadership.
Then, respond to the following:
• What are the key attributes of the transformational style of leadership? Explain why you think these attributes are required of a transformational leader.
• From either personal experience, or through observation, provide examples of transformation leadership.
• Which of the other leaders who you have seen come close to being effective transformational leaders? How could they have changed to be transformational leaders? Justify your answer with appropriate examples.
Write your initial response in 300–500 words. Your response should be thorough and address all components of the discussion question in detail, include citations of all sources, where needed, according to the APA Style, and demonstrate accurate spelling, grammar, and punctuation

Re:Topic 6 DQ 1
The 2 biggest contributing factors were law related; starting with the Equal Pay Act of 1963 that prohibited women from being payed less than a man while doing the same job, then the Title VII of the Civil rights act of 1964 that protected against discrimination in the hiring process based on race or sex. The third biggest contributing factor is the change in American culture that preaches education and career brooding for everyone not just men as it has been in the past. On the other hand culture is also the biggest contributor to why the gap still exists. A woman having a career is encouraged in this day in age much more than it was 50 years ago, but men are still expected to work. A stay at home husband is still viewed as taboo to some degree in American culture. The second contributor piggy backs of the first one to some degree, but child care is expensive and many people don’t want to send their kids to day care. Women are typically the ones expected to be the stay at home caregivers, and many times this affects how ambitious they are within their own career fields, many times settling for positions that will allow them to be at home often. Thirdly, is the fact that discrimination still exist, while it can be hard for some to imagine there are still people out there who refuse to work under a woman and don’t feel like they are capable of leading. As for how this can be rectified, I don’t think there is an answer to that, because I don’t necessarily think the system is broken. There will always be people who discriminate, but you would hope over time those numbers continue to become fewer. The culture of America is the culture of America, if women want to work they have all the same opportunities at their disposal, but moms will continue to be primary care givers, and husbands will continue to try and be primary bread winners. The only way to change that is to change the culture, and while I predict that the gap will continue to close further, I believe there will always remain a gap.

The contributing factor that women was'nt the breadwinner, they only was working temporary and more women try to find work that is flexible because of their children. The fact that more woman work part time, don't have time for degrees and women work in different areas then men is the three factors that I found. I feel that this problem has been rectified many woman can get help with child care, more woman are getting degrees so that they can make more money. Also more woman have be ...
CasWhen reviewing the Healthy People 2020 objectives for Accogglili
Cas
When reviewing the Healthy People 2020 objectives for Access to Health Services, all of their objectives are legitimate and important. All of the topics are problems in our healthcare system, however, I feel that increasing the persons with a usual care provider and increase the number of practicing care providers is the most important (Healthy People, 2018). I do not know if this is just a problem in California, or if it is nationwide, but patients in my area have an extremely difficult time finding a primary care provider, whether it is a Physician, Physicians Assistant or Nurse Practitioner. There is such a shortage in my area, that patients have to wait months to get established with a provider. Then when they are ill or have an acute problem their provider is unable to see them within a few days because there is no appointments for weeks. Most end up going to a prompt care type setting or to the emergency department. I believe that if we can increase the number of practicing care providers patients will then be able to have a usual care provider that can see them in a timely manner for more acute problems and to adequately manage the patients chronic illness, leading to fewer emergency department visits and hospitalizations.
This is one of the reasons I would like to pursue a Master's Degree and become a Family Nurse Practitioner after obtaining my BSN. I see so many patients in the Emergency Department, that are there every week for problems that would be easily treated by a physician or mid-level. Most of these patients are elderly without access to resources and are failing outpatient treatment. When you have a practitioner that can see the patient, set up in home resources and follow up, the patients outcome is likely to much more successful.
It appears that the shortage of primary care providers presents a challenge for the entire US healthcare system and is not only in my area. Historically, physicians did not present with a positive attitude when the topic of including PAs and NPs, as key players in augmenting primary care. Current medical practice has become a complex, multilayered problem, that is requiring a team approach. Physicians alone will be unlikely to meet future demands for primary care and and also specialty care. Therefore, greater attention will likely be focused on the PA and NP profession and its ability to continue to adapt to meet society's healthcare needs (Coplan, Smith & Cawley, 2017).

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

Part I: Family Engagement
As you begin to consider how you will engage families at the
start of the new school year, it is important to reflect upon why
family engagement is necessary and beneficial for children,
families, and early childhood programs. Review Document #1:
Blue Stream Early Learning Center Overview.
In two to three pages, do the following:
· Explain why family engagement is important for the healthy
development of children and why it is essential to creating a
foundation for effective early childhood practice.
· Describe at least two strategies that you would use to engage
families prior to the beginning of the school year.
· Explain why you chose these strategies and how each strategy
can be used to promote a respectful, reciprocal, and responsive
partnership with the families.Part II: Individualized Family
Communication Plans
Imagine that it is now the second week of the school year. You
have received the completed Beginning of the Year
Questionnaires that you sent to the children’s families as seen
in the following documents:
· Document #2: Jon Hall: Beginning of the Year Questionnaire
· Document #3: Annie Xun: Beginning of the Year
Questionnaire
· Document #4: Irene Segers: Beginning of the Year
Questionnaire
Based on the questionnaires, create an individualized plan for
how you would communicate and collaborate with each of the
three children’s families.
Each of the three individualized plans should be two pages in
length and include:
· An explanation of the initial method of communication you
2. will use with the family. Explain why you chose the method for
this specific family.
· A description of at least one potential obstacle you might face
in communicating with the family.
· Describe at least one strategy you might use to overcome the
obstacle you identified, so you can effectively communicate and
collaborate with the family.
· An explanation of how you will communicate information to
the family about their child’s overall development and academic
progress. Provide a rationale for your choice.
· An explanation of how you will communicate to the family the
opportunities for them to engage in the classroom. Provide a
rationale for your choice. Include an explanation of why
building a partnership with this family is essential to the
healthy development of the child(ren) in this family.
· A description of at least one strategy you would use to obtain
information from the family. Provide a rationale for your
choice.Part III: Family Newsletter
A month has passed, and it is time to update the families on
their children’s progress.
Your newsletter should should include:
· An overview of learning and development that has taken place
in the classroom since the first month of school.
· A welcome to families and an invitation to volunteer or
become involved in the classroom community at Blue Stream
Early Childhood Center. Provide at least one specific way
families can volunteer or become involved in the classroom
community.
· At least one recommendation for promoting their child’s
emotional, social, cognitive, or physical development at home.
Essentials of Maternity, Newborn, and Women's Health Nursing
Chapter 13: Labor and Birth Process
Emily, age 32, has an obstetrical history of G1, T0, P0, A0, L0.
Emily’s week of gestation is 39.1. Emily telephones the health
3. care provider’s office and tells the nurse she believes she is in
labor. Based on her assessment, the nurse advises her to have
her husband bring her to the labor and birth unit. Emily arrives
and is admitted. She is talkative and excited about being in
labor and describes her contractions and discomfort as mild.
The following are the assessment findings of the examining
nurse: Maternal vital signs are stable. Fetal heart tones with the
external fetal monitor are reassuring. Vaginal exam indicates
the cervix is 3 cm dilated, 40% effaced, membranes intact with
the presenting part engaged.
Ten minutes after the vaginal exam by the nurse, Emily says, “I
think I just wet my pants.” (Learning Objectives 2, 6, 7, and 8)
a. What questions might the nurse have asked Emily to
determine that she may be in true labor? What prenatal history
information should the nurse have obtained during the telephone
call?
The questions include asking whether she is in pain, specifically
whether or not she has low back pain. The nurse might also ask
whether there is vaginal bleeding. The prenatal information
would be the intensity and frequency of contractions.
Other questions:
When did the contractions begin?
Where do you feel the pain.. back or belly?
Does rest or drinking fluid help the pain?
Fetal movements?
b. Explain the meaning of the nurse’s assessment findings.
Identify the stage and phase of labor, listing the physiologic and
psychological changes during this stage. What positions and
activities would be appropriate for Emily based on the
assessment data?
b. Did not develop one part of this question.
If the cervix is 3 cm dilated, 40 % effaced, Emily is in active
labor. During phase 1, the cervix begs to dilate and continues to
thin for the delivery. “Vitals are stable and FHT are reassuring
4. meaning the fetus is not in any distress” (Oktay et al, 2016).
The psychological changes include exhaustion, anxiety and
fatigue while the physiological changes include increase in
breathing and blood sugar. The appropriate activities would be
to have Emily walk around to help in moving labor. Emily can
participate in activities that involve walking.
c. Describe the nursing interventions that would be appropriate
for the nurse to implement based on Emily’s statement that “I
think I just wet my pants.”
The nursing interventions are to assess the FHR and determine
the color and odor of amniotic fluid in case the membranes
ruptured. Vital signs should be assessed and nearness to birth
should also be determined by evaluating cervical dilation and
contractions.
Note the time of ROM
Notify HCP
2. Diane, age 22, has been in labor for 8 hours. Her cervical
exam reveals she is 3 cm, 30% effaced and –1 station. Diane has
been feeling most of her pain in her lower back. (Learning
Objectives 3, 4, and 5)
1. Given your understanding of the 5 P’s and the cardinal
movements of labor, discuss why Diane is having back labor
and why her progress is slow.
The cause of slow labor progress is the Passenger. The
malposition of fetus causes it.
You have to identify the fetal positon that causes back pain and
slow progress.
“The fetus is the ‘passenger travelling down the birth canal”
(Subramaniam et al, 2019). The low progress may be as a result
of the fetal head being too large in addition to the
mispositioning. There might be exertion of pressure on the
mother’s sacral backbone which causes the back pain and poor
cervical dilatation.
0. What strategies may the nurse implement to assist Diane in
progressing in her labor?
The strategies are:
5. a. Telling her to squat
b. Asking her to sit on the birth ball
c. Use of the miles circuit technique
d. Conducting abdominal lift
e. Asking Diane to balance on knees and hands on a bed to help
adjust fetal position.
It is good to encourage Diane that she will be able to bear the
pain of delivery. Since she has attained full dilation, she may
give birth soon. Incorrect she is at 3cms.. a log way to go
Diane should also remind on the birth plan.

Chapter 11: Maternal Adaptation During Pregnancy
1. Jessica and Mike are new clients at your obstetrics office.
You are asking them about the reason for their visit. Jessica
says she thinks she is pregnant because she missed a period.
Mike tells you Jessica is always nauseated in the morning and
eats all the time the rest of the day. They have not been using
6. birth control and have wanted to have children since they got
married last summer. Jessica says her clothes are feeling tighter
and her breasts seem tender. Mike says he has noticed that
Jessica has been frequently getting up to go to the bathroom at
night. (Learning Objectives 2 and 4)
a. What subjective symptoms have led Jessica and Mike to
presume she is pregnant? What other conditions could be the
cause of Jessica’s symptoms? How can a pregnancy be
confirmed as probable? Diagnosed as positive?
a. The above question is not answered.
The subjective symptoms include nausea, breast tenderness and
amenorrhea. Jessica missed her period and eats all the time.
Eating all the time could be caused by food cravings. No birth
control, requently getting up to go to the bathroom at night
Other conditions that could be the cause of Jessica’s symptoms
include diabetes, anemia, gastrointestinal disorders,
malnutrition, endocrine dysfunction and menopause. A blood
test or urine test can diagnose a negative or positive result.
this is a probable sign of pregnancy not proof positive…. what
give a false + HCG test?
What are the proof positive signs of pregnancy?
This is because the hormone hCG is present in both urine and
blood.
Other conditions that could be the cause of Jessica’s symptoms
are pancreatitis and anxiety disorders. The fact that she feels
nauseated shows that she may be having pancreatitis.
“Pancreatitis is an inflammation in your pancreas- an organ that
secretes enzymes to help you digest your food” (Fairbrother et
al, 2017). This may also have made her to have more foods
cravings. She could be having anxiety disorders because these
causes nausea. Her food cravings may have been caused by
pica.
b. Discuss the nutritional needs of Jessica and her baby.
b. You did not include what she is to avoid.
7. Jessica will need to consume more legumes, nuts and meat.
These will provide her body with iron and proteins. The key
nutrients needed by the baby include iron, vitamin A, calcium,
vitamin C, D, B6 and B12. The baby will need more calcium to
strengthen bones and teeth. Some of the foods that can be taken
include milk and cheese. Foods such as leafy greens and carrots
will provide the vitamin A while vitamin C will be provided by
tomatoes, broccoli, oranges and citrus fruit. Foods such as liver
and whole grain cereals will help provide vitamin B6 and B12.
Vitamin C would help promote healthy gums and bones. It
would also help the body of the pregnant mother to absorb iron.
Iron helps increase the blood flow to ensure that adequate
oxygen is supplied to the baby. “A pregnant woman should be
getting 27 milligrams of iron and 1200 milligrams of calcium”
(Oktay et al, 2016). These nutritional needs are met by ensuring
that one eats a variety of recommended foods.
0. Beth (aged 18) is experiencing her first pregnancy and is now
24 weeks gestation. She tells you that she is “amazed by the
changes that have happened to my body already.” Beth wants to
understand what additional changes are going to occur to her
“besides just getting a really huge belly.” Additionally, Beth
relates to you that she is in her senior year of high school, is no
longer involved with the baby’s father, and lives at home with
her mother and 12-year-old brother. (Learning Objectives 3 and
5)
1. Explain to Beth (in terms she can understand) what general
body adaptations she will experience throughout the remainder
of her pregnancy.
Beth may experience swollen ankles and feet, pain in the
abdomen area, leg cramps, dizziness and skin changes. “You
might be experiencing pain on either one or both sides of your
abdomen or hip area” (Fairbrother et al, 2017). This is caused
by the straining and stretching of the ligaments that hold the
uterus. She may also experience trouble sleeping because of the
huge size of the belly and have frequent heartburn.
0. What psychosocial adaptations may Beth experience as a
8. result of being a teenage, single mother living at home?
The psychological adaptions include high stress levels, lack of
financial support and emotional disorders. She may also
experience pain during the delivery, fears of giving birth, social
life changes and dramatic body alterations. She may also
experience fears of raising the baby without the help of the
father. The father would be able to provide financial and
emotional support if he was available.
