Chandrayaan-1 was India's first mission to the Moon, launched in 2008. Its objectives were to orbit a spacecraft around the Moon using an Indian launch vehicle, conduct scientific experiments to create high-resolution 3D maps of the lunar surface and map its chemical composition, and have a sub-satellite impact the Moon's surface. The spacecraft was 1.5 meters in size, powered by solar arrays, and carried instruments to examine the Moon's mineral and chemical composition at different altitudes and locations.
