Chanakya was an ancient Indian philosopher and economist who served as a teacher and advisor to the first Maurya emperor Chandragupta. He authored the famous political treatise called Arthashastra, teaching economics, political science, war strategies, medicine and astrology. Chanakya was from a Brahmin family in the village of Chanaka and sought revenge against the Nanda dynasty for humiliating his village.
