Team Storm Chasers from Bangladesh proposes a mobile application called Teletest to help students prepare for exams. Teletest would provide MCQ-based practice questions and assessments that students could access anytime on their mobile phones. This could help address challenges with the education system in Bangladesh like high student-teacher ratios, lack of access to tutoring or study materials, and infrastructure issues. By leveraging the widespread use of mobile phones, Teletest aims to increase access to learning for students, especially in rural areas.

2. A small country with some major problems
Education has been a priority for over last two decades, but the
quality of education in Bangladesh remains extremely poor.
In a survey, it’s seen that in every 100 students, over
50 students can not even complete 10 grade
education properly.
A very recent report shows that every year approximately
0.8 million students compete for getting admission in
public universities in Bangladesh. But only 6%-8%
students pass in these MCQ based exams.

3. This huge number of failure indicates the lack of quality
preparation for public exams.
Reasons behind this
Teacher & students ratio is very high [1:90].
Penetration of Private coaching centers that fail to provide
effective learning materials
Unavailability of proper books & self-assessment
materials all over the country
Lack of distance learning approaches
Frequent load shedding that make E-learning technologies
less effective.

4. Especially, students from rural areas don’t even have
any effective way to assess & prepare themselves for
public exams.
Nearly 6 million students from rural areas are denied the opportunity to
go to the coaching centers that cost $150/month or to use E-learning
technologies because of their lower family income. However, these
students have peers with all of the resources, from tutors to books, at
their fingertips. Income should not determine outcome.

5. In this kind of situation, mobile technology can be a best option
In Bangladesh, there are
about 100 million active

So, we believe . . .
through mobile technology, we can bring a massive change in the
traditional way of preparation.
