This study involved an investigation of the factors that affect the utilization or non-utilization of portfolio assessment in evaluating performance in mathematics of both college and high school students from De La Salle Lipa. Thirty-five teachers were asked to accomplish two validated brief surveys – one is for gathering information about their profile and the other is for probing into the different assessment tools they are using to evaluate the performance of their students in mathematics. Out of the 35 respondents, only 9 were using portfolio assessment either in the form of report of group project, open-ended questions, or draft, revised and final versions of students work on a complex mathematical problem. The demand for considerable time in planning instructional activities and development of grading rubrics or criteria were among the limiting factors identified by the 26 respondents for not using portfolio assessment. Among the alternative forms of assessment used by these teachers were KPUP (Knowledge, Process, Understanding and Product) Oriented, UbD (Understanding by Design) approach, and online assessment tools. It uses GPS to find other travelers near the user and allows them to form instant communities called "packs" to share accommodations, meals, tours and other travel experiences. Users can search for existing packs or create their own, and the app links to users' social media accounts to provide travel tips and suggestions from other backpackers on their maps. The goal is to help travelers overcome common problems of loneliness, budgets, safety and unpredictability by connecting them with others nearby.

Critical thinking and problem solving is one of the competencies that must be possessed to meet the 21st Century. This competence is very important to be mastered by students, especially vocational high school students. One learning model that can hone 21st Century competencies is Problem Based Learning. This research was carried out on productive subjects of the Trial. This study aims to determine the improvement of critical thinking and problem solving competencies, and student learning outcomes on subject matter subjects. This study uses a classroom action research design with measurement of competence using observation and measurement of learning outcomes using a multiple choice written test. The results of the study showed an increase in thinking and problem solving critical competencies from the first cycle of 37.4% to the second cycle of 78.2%. While the average value of the first cycle is 70.4 and the second cycle is 86.4. Students who reach KKM in cycle I are 38% and in cycle II 82%.Assessment ppt

5E Instructional Model: Enhancing Students Academic Achievement in the Subjec...
There are different instructional models that teachers adopted for the teaching of students different subjects. Among all those a student centered model is 5Es instructional model. This model concentrates on the engaging students, made exploration through students, explains and elaborate the learning concepts by students and then to evaluate students learning. All these 5Es provide ample space for students’ hands-on practices of the learning contents. This experimental study was conducted at primary level in the subject of General Sciences following pretest posttest equivalent group design. Two groups (control and experimental) were formed from 52 students of 5ht grade where both the groups were given same number students. The data were collected through the pretest and posttest and was analyzed through mean score, standard deviation and paired sample t test.The major findings of the study were that the overall academic achievements of experimental group taught with 5E instructional model enhanced significantly as compare to control group. The study also found significant increase indifferent aspects of cognitive domain of students’ learning; knowledge, application, comprehension and skill development abilities of experimental group taught with 5E instructional model.

This study aims to detect the impact of the modified learning cycle strategy on the development of habits of mind and skills of critical thinking in the ‘Islamic Education’ subject for 10th grade students in Jordan. To achieve this goal, the researcher used the semi-experimental approach, hence dividing the students into two groups: a control group and an experimental group. Each grouped consisted of (31) students. The modified learning cycle was applied to teach the experimental group, and the regular traditional strategy to the control group. The researcher prepared two studying tools: a measure of the habits of mind which consisted of (25) paragraph, and a critical thinking skills test which included (28) paragraph. Both tools were applied after assuring their validity and reliability. The results indicated a statistically significant difference for using the modified learning cycle strategy in the development of habits of mind and skills of critical thinking for the experimental group students compared to the control group students. The study, thus, stresses the need to apply the modified learning cycle in teaching the ‘Islamic Education’ subject due to its effectiveness in developing habits of mind and skills of critical thinking.
