IN PARTNERSHIP WITH CRANFIELD UNIVERSITY, UK
Center for Global Innovators (CGI) is awarded British Council DICE Collaboration Fund for
Pakistan’s First Social & Creative Incubation Program. Center for Global Innovators will work
with Office of Research Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC) at National University of
Modern Languages (NUML) Islamabad and Lahore College for Women University (LCWU)
Lahore to design & co-deliver Social and Creative incubation program.

2. MOU WITH LCWU
LCWU IS LARGEST FEMALE UNIVERSITY IN ASIA
Center for Global Innovators has signed a formal MoU with Lahore
College for Women University. The purpose of the MoU is to promote
entrepreneurial activities & entrepreneurial culture at Lahore College
for Women University.
Under the mandate of the project CGI has committed to both LCWU and
NUML to deliver two dedicated training sessions to the Incubation
Managements/ ORICs on how to manage and run a sustainable
incubation program.

NUML hosted a graceful Opening Ceremony of Pakistan’s first Social and
Creative Incubation Program, on 29th Jan 2019. Mr. Imtiaz Rastgar,
founder and Chairman of Rastgar Group and Chairman of HEC
Innovation Steering Committee, was the Chief Guest of the occasion.
Dr Imran Zawwar represented Cranfield School of Management, UK.
British Council Delegation, SDPI, USAID, IPDS, NIC Islamabad, IBM,
OGDCL, CGI, NUML, LCWU, Fauji Foundation University and AIR
University Startup Ecosystem Leaders, Dignitaries, Delegates of partner
organizations, Deans & Directors of NUML and LCWU also attended the
event.

PAKISTAN’S FIRST SOCIAL &
CREATIVE INCUBATION PROGRAM
Business Incubation Center (BICON) NUML team led by Dr Gulfam Baghoor has been working hard with Center for Global Innovators (CGI),
Cranfield School of Management and British Council for the launch of this Incubation program. Co-founders of CGI, Imran Jattala and Mustafa
Minhas were delighted at the launch of this incubation program. Mustafa Minhas expressed his desire to scale this program across Pakistan
in coming years. A Panel Discussion on “Social & Creative Entrepreneurship for Economic Growth” was also organized during the event.
Panelists included Mr. Parvez Abbasi Project Director NIC Islamabad, Mr. Kamran Yusuf Shami Chief Information Officer OGDCL, Mr. Talha
Chishty Program Manager British Council, Ms. Farhat Asif President Institute of Peace & Diplomatic Studies and Dr Humaira Shahbaz. Panel
discussion highlighted different aspects of Social & Creative Entrepreneurship and how this can contribute towards the economic growth of
emerging markets like Pakistan.
Ms Asna Javed, IT Team lead at IBM and a differently-abled person, in her motivational talk shared that she was born without arms. But she
never let this hinder her progress. She shared with the audience that if she can do engineering & work at one of largest corporate in the
world, there’s nothing impossible in this world. Director General NUML, Brig Muhammad Ibrahim presented the Chief Guest and Panel
Speakers with shields to conclude the event.

4. DEVELOPING INCLUSIVE &
CREATIVE ECONOMIES
The creative industries are huge in the UK, adding more to the economy than the automotive, life sciences, aerospace, oil and gas sectors
combined. British Council’s DICE (Developing Inclusive and Creative Economies) Program brings an opportunity for emerging economies to
learn from UK. Pakistan’s nascent Social & Creative sector can benefit from DICE program.
Center for Global Innovators (CGI) has partnered-up with one of the most prestigious business schools in Europe – Cranfield School of
Management, UK to help design & deliver Incubation programs at two public sector Universities in Pakistan. Two sustainable Social &
Creative Incubation Programs are being established during a 12-months Jan-19 to Dec-19 Program at NUML University, Islamabad and Lahore
College for Women University, Lahore. At least 50% of 40 Social & Creative Startups will be Women-led. Incubatee startups will go through
a rigorous six-month training program which includes sixteen weekly modules designed to help build successful startups. Weekly industry
meetup will help startup to learn from the experts and find potential customers.
