CSF is Stand for Cerebrospinal fluid
A clear fluid in sub arachnoid space in meningeal layer around the brain and
spinal cord. mainly produced by the choroid plexus, but also by the ependymal
lining cellsofthebrain'sventricularsystem.Itprotectsbrainandspinal cordfrom
frictionand any other external traumaticshocks
CSF consist of some ingredients including, WBCs, Protein, Glucose etc.
A Trauma, Infection and rheumatic or auto immune diseases are factors that’s
change its naturalstate
The techniqueby whichCSFis obtainedis called Lumbar Puncture(LP)orSpinalTap.
There're many tests of CSF including Routine Examination, Culture & Sensitivity,
Cytology.
