Definition
• Cereal is any true grass cultivated for the edible
components of its grains composed of endosperm,
germ and bran.
• A grass such as wheat, oats or corns, the starchy grain
of which are used as food

• Used to make alcohols

•Scientific name-sorghum bicolor
•Common name- chara, judri, jowar
•Gluten free
•Grown in india, africa, US etc
•Sown in the month of june
•Some of its properties are like maize
as they pop like pop-corns.
•Used as animal and human food
•Known as a high-energy, drought
tolerant crop.
•Could be grown in less water.

•Scientific name-Pennisetum glaucum
•Local name- bajra
•Grown in indian and west african regions
•Could be grown in flood prone areas and in
those areas where wheat, corn, etc are
grown
•India in largest producer of pearl millet
•Its normally used for its warmth properties.
•Used for making chapatis, pudding, sweet
dishes etc.

•Common name-corn
•local name- makki,makai
•Grown in india, south america, africa,
europe etc.
•Starch is main component.
•Sown in month of october.
•Used for making flour, popcorns,
sweet corn, chapatis etc.
