The neighborhood also has lower rates of educational attainment and home ownership. Housing in Central is older, with over 90% of residents renting properties with a median age of over 100 years. Central residents report poorer health outcomes than other areas in surveys.

Results of steps 1-3 of project - Draft Versionhoaglina
This document provides results from Steps 1-3 of the Evidence-Based Public Health Framework for obesity prevention in Colorado. Step 1 involved assessing the community through analyzing demographics, barriers, community values, and assets. It found the population is growing and aging, with increasing poverty and disparities. Barriers to healthy behaviors include time, money, and access. Health and role modeling are important community values. Assets include outdoor spaces and advocacy groups. The high school has also opened its doors for the coach and team to provide mentoring and academic support to many of the freshman boys, a development that could allow the vision of the program to be realized. The coach is hopeful and believes small acts can make a big difference.
