Mission / Vision:
Create a strategy and innovate on the use of White Space Spectrum Band. The overall mission is to
disrupt the current telecom status quo and pave the way for the “New Generation of Telecom
Industry” - cheaper, faster, and more open.
Goals:
• Provide smart phone users an alternate way to access the Internet aside from cellular
3G/4G/LTE networks through seamless cellular data to WIFI data offloading.
• Create captured audiences on first opportunity, control and extract revenues directly.
• Make internet free and open, but also mutually provides revenues to the providers.
Strengths:
• Advantage on first to rollout and first to market.
• Be faster than LTE and consume less power from the smart phone giving users longer
capability to access the internet. Longer usage means spreading the demand over time
rather need more capacity on demand (changing user habits).
• Technology is commonly used by smart phone users, no education needed.
• Technology is backward compatible to first generation Smart phones.
• Easily tap existing cellular network operator due to mutual benefits.
• Future device proof. Allow other internet capable devices to participate such as Smart TV,
wireless security cameras, wireless POS, wireless kiosks, wireless ad displays and Internet of
things.
• Increase download and usage of app (apps are getting bigger and therefore less likely to be
downloaded through mobile data).

• Provides wireless content distribution network for premium content providers.
• Allows private mesh networks to connect.
• Route and control traffic better between device and gateway making the connection less
prone to problems.
Weaknesses:
• Require new infrastructures and investments.
• Require new spectrum band licence (White Space licenses).
• Retooling of support services and NOC.
• Requires key partnerships with location owners.
Opportunities:
• Partnership with telecom operators
o Removes the problem in areas with shortage in phone lines
o For broadband to household consumer:
No lines needed for installation (just connect to the nearest strong AP,
register, pay and access the Internet).
No router needed to manage per installation (lesser routers to maintain,
sell).
No more pre-requirement for dongles and pocket WIFIs.
o Solves mobile data problems on saturated areas(3G/4G/LTE):
Use the WIFI mesh network to offload cell sites (Cellular data offloading with
SIM authentication support). Data connection travels through AP on wired
trunklines in key areas acting as master nodes for the mesh.
More resilient than cell sites, takes less space, can be easily secured
(collocate and enclosure), 802.11ac Access points can be penetrate about 5
walls.
o Authenticate cellular subscribers with WIFI access point seamlessly.
• Partnership with business central districts
o Provide wireless infrastructures for security cameras.
o Provide secure network for ATMs, Kiosks and POS.
o Provide secure data communications private security forces.
o Provide location aware outdoor advertising channels (geo-fencing).
• Partnership with government
o Provide wireless infrastructures for city wide security and traffic cameras.
o Provide channel to broadcast information and advisories.
o Provide secure data communications for law enforcements.
o First-responders communication.
• Partnership with Academics
• Partnership with Real-Estates

o Provide IP TV and internet access by default to all condominium tenants.
o Increase cellular connections indoors (acts as femtocells).
• Partnership with Utilities
o Automated meter reading (power, water, gas)
Threats:
• WiZ Hotspots (Globe) – prepaid WIFI access available in select locations (2005) such as
restaurants, hotels, terminals and key public infrastructures.
• WIFIZones (PLDT) – a value added services for existing myDSL subscribers to access free
WIFI internet of key partner establishments (2011).
• WiTribe (San Miguel Corporation) has partnerships with 7-Eleven convenience to provide
WIFI captive portals so its customers can access the Internet for free (2012), eventually this
access has been limited to its reward card members (2014).
• Pinoy Telekoms (Mark Jimenez) – provides free or prepaid Wifi Internet access. Free Internet
access is monetized via revenue extraction gateways.
• WIFI Mesh vs WiMAX – must carefully plan on what areas WiMAX is better suited compared
to WIFI Mesh or a combination of both.

Network Strategy:
1. Telcos provide wide range internet via trunkline, satellite canopy, cable, WiMAX, Super WIFI
or LTE network, this will be called as super nodes exclusively providing high bandwidth
internet to master WIFI APs.
2. Co-locate the master/controller WIFI AP nodes which connect to super nodes, these nodes
also acts as the revenue extraction gateways as well as control the cellular data to WIFI
offloading.
3. Individual WIFI AP acting as slave nodes can connect to the master nodes to form the mesh
network, extending the coverage around the area where the master node is collocated.
a. Private owned WIFI AP can join the mesh, giving the owner free internet in exchange
for allowing revenue extraction and cellular data offloading for others
b. You can buy you own WIFI AP and connect it to mesh giving you better coverage if
you are on the edge of the network or for better connection inside the building.
c. You still must use a WIFI AP to connect to the mesh if you require access beyond
standard internet services (eg: have access to port forwarding, internet desktop
games to work, torrents, VoIP, etc).
4. Mobile devices can offload its data connection to any member slave AP via SIM
Authentication or (if not supported by the phone) via an installed application.
Service Strategy:
1. Mobile Pre-paid users get free Internet in exchange for ads.
2. Mobile Post-paid users get internet according to its current plan (but now has faster internet
and consume less power).
3. Mobile VAS service subscription is carried over when connected to the mesh (eg: Spotify,
Hulu).
4. Mobile Data promo subscription is carried over when connected to the mesh (eg: UnliSuf).

Deployment Stategy:
1. Cable / trunkline - provides the “Super Nodes” high-speed Internet connection.
2. “Super Nodes” – provides the initial wireless connection, providing coverage across wide areas.
3. “Master Nodes” – provides the control and management of the mesh network.
4. Blue “Master Nodes” – WiMAX and White Space (Super WIFI AP) capable broadband network is more suited for covering wide open spaces such as
rural areas but also close gaps over areas where no suitable co-location can be installed such as water ways or operate as backhauls.

Technology Requirements:
• EAP-SIM – Extensible Authentication Protocol for GSM Subscriber Identity Module described
in RFC-4186 allows seamless authentication of smart phones on wireless devices using keys
stored on its SIM. Similar mechanism EAP-AKA is available for UTMS (USIM) and EAP-AKA’
for EVDO, WIFI or WiMAX.
• Mesh Networks – a self-configuring and self-healing wireless network.

third party without the prior written consent.
Author: rpfilomeno@gmail.com
• White Space Radio – provide long distance non-line of sight wireless communications up to
100 kilometers.
• Captive Portals - is a special web page that is shown before using the Internet normally. The
portal is often used to present a login page. This is done by intercepting most packets,
regardless of address or port, until the user opens a browser and tries to access the web.
• Revenue Extraction Gateway - an HTML rewriting and payload insertion program to insert or
rewrite HTML content such as advertisements.

Private owned WIFI AP can join the mesh, giving the owner free internet in exchange for allowing revenue extraction and cellular data offloading for others b. You can buy you own WIFI AP and connect it to mesh giving you better coverage if you are on the edge of the network or for better connection inside the building. c. You still must use a WIFI AP to connect to the mesh if you require access beyond standard internet services (eg: have access to port forwarding, internet desktop games to work, torrents, VoIP, etc). 4. Mobile devices can offload its data connection to any member slave AP via SIM Authentication or (if not supported by the phone) via an installed application. Service Strategy: 1. Mobile Pre-paid users get free Internet in exchange for ads. 2. Mobile Post-paid users get internet according to its current plan (but now has faster internet and consume less power). 3. Mobile VAS service subscription is carried over when connected to the mesh (eg: Spotify, Hulu). 4. Mobile Data promo subscription is carried over when connected to the mesh (eg: UnliSuf).
