divides to produce two cells.

5. FOUR PHASES
I. PROPHASE Chromosomes
become visible
by shortening
and coiling

6. II. METAPHASE
Chromosomes
align
themselves in
the middle of
the dividing cell.

7. III. ANAPHASE
Each member of
a chromosome
pair separates
and begins to
move toward the
opposite end of
the cell.

8. IV. TELOPHASE
The cell begins to
divide into two
new cells as the
chromosomes
reach opposite
ends of the cell.

9. INTERPHASE
Interphase is
the stage
where each
chromosome
makes a copy
of itself.
