Thi Thu Phuong Luong (Chili)
Hanoi, Vietnam
Studied: ELPP then Master’s Qualifying
Programme in Business, Finance &
Management
Now studying: MSc Finance
Before joining my MSc Finance degree, I
feel the ELPP and MQP courses helped me
a lot to improve my speaking, vocabulary
and confidence during. Each week, my
personal tutor made sure I was making
good progress and if I ever had any
problems then he was on hand to discuss
them and help me.
I had originally thought about going to
Florida, USA, to study my Master’s, after
graduating in Automatic Control from
Hanoi University of Technology, but the
UK was a more economical and attractive
option with only one year needed to
complete my postgraduate degree. The
opportunity to do a 12-week internship as
part of my MSc at Coventry instead of a
dissertation was also really appealing and
I think this will be very useful for me when
I return to Vietnam to find a good job.

Saruul Enkhmanadakh
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia
Studied: UFP Business pathway
Now studying: Year 2 of BA (Hons) Accounting
& Finance
“LSBU was my goal to do my degree because
it is one of the top universities to do
Accounting & Finance. The
FoundationCampus course helped me a lot
and I got over 80% in most of my first year
exams and now I am aiming for a 1st class
degree”.
Saruul believes the combination of Maths,
Business Studies and IELTS on her Foundation
programmes was very good preparation to
guarantee her successful progression on to
the first year of her degree. In particular, the
fact she prepared for and took the IELTS
external examination meant she felt ready to
study alongside her British classmates on the
degree.
Saruul feels that her time at
FoundationCampus also helped her become
familiar with London life and she is now living
in the new business and finance district of
London, in Canada Water, and has made
contacts in the business world through the
alumni meetings that her faculty arrange to
meet recently graduated students from LSBU
who are working in the industry.

Fares Alferdaws
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
Studying: MFP
Progressing to: MSc Fire Protection
Engineering
The MFP here is a very good course. I’ve tried
general English course before and they were
very different. Here we take everything
seriously and I have the opportunity to focus
on the things that I want to practice. At the
moment that is PowerPoint presentations and
research methods, neither of which I learnt
on my undergraduate degree.
The fact that progression to my degree is
guaranteed from UCLan FoundationCampus is
a relief for me. It means you can focus on
improving yourself and not have to worry
about what will happen next year as I know
what I am doing when I successfully complete
the MFP. After my Master’s I plan to return
to my job with the Saudi Industrial
Development Fund.

  • 20. Thi Thu Phuong Luong (Chili) Hanoi, Vietnam Studied: ELPP then Master’s Qualifying Programme in Business, Finance & Management Now studying: MSc Finance Before joining my MSc Finance degree, I feel the ELPP and MQP courses helped me a lot to improve my speaking, vocabulary and confidence during. Each week, my personal tutor made sure I was making good progress and if I ever had any problems then he was on hand to discuss them and help me. I had originally thought about going to Florida, USA, to study my Master’s, after graduating in Automatic Control from Hanoi University of Technology, but the UK was a more economical and attractive option with only one year needed to complete my postgraduate degree. The opportunity to do a 12-week internship as part of my MSc at Coventry instead of a dissertation was also really appealing and I think this will be very useful for me when I return to Vietnam to find a good job.
