International Foundation Year
Overview
The International Foundation Year (IFY) is a one year pre-university programme, including
a significant amount of English language training. The programme is designed to provide learners
with an entry route to UK university programmes or progression on to the NCC Education Level 4
Diplomas in Computing, Business or Business IT.
The IFY aims to:
• Improve leaners general and academic English language ability.
• Enhance students study skills and cultural understanding.
• Introduce learners to academic study in English in the fields of computing and/or business.

Application Process
1. When your students are interested in applying they can simply download the application form from the
Birmingham City University profile page on: www.nccedu.com.
2. Students (with assistance from your centre) are to complete the application form and return to the NCC
Education Customer Services Team. The application must include the following: Application Form,
Statements from two referees regarding their suitability for the course Equal Opportunities form, Copies
of academic transcripts and certificates, Copy of applicant’s passport, including any relevant UK Visa.
3. NCC Education will review each application and complete basic quality checks to ensure all supporting
documentation is provided and that the student meets the minimum requirements for entry.
4. If the application passes basic checks it will then be sent to Birmingham City University for full
consideration by the university.
5. Once the university approve the application they will produce a guaranteed offer letter and provide this
directly to the student.

The programme is designed to provide learners with an entry route to UK university programmes or progression on to the NCC Education Level 4 Diplomas in Computing, Business or Business IT. The IFY aims to: • Improve leaners general and academic English language ability. • Enhance students study skills and cultural understanding. • Introduce learners to academic study in English in the fields of computing and/or business. NCC Education andYou Your Name Date Guaranteed Progression Guaranteed Progression: This refers to an agreement with a university that allows NCC Education candidates, upon successful completion of their qualification, to apply for guaranteed entry on to university level courses, subject to specific entry requirements. Candidates who have successful completed the International Foundation Year (IFY) qualification benefit from having guaranteed entry to courses offered by: • Birmingham City University • Bangor University • University Centre Croydon (validated by the University of Sussex)
