He visited several wildlife conservation areas and zoos to take photos and footage of different animals. He found that larger zoos provided more variety, including larger predators. His research also looked at existing zoo advertisement videos and what techniques they used to appeal to audiences. He found techniques like using fast-paced music, drone shots, quick cuts between animals, and animation helped engage viewers. His animation will focus on showing animals in their habitats to appeal to people's interest in conservation while entertaining the young adult demographic.

Youth update sept_2010-1
The Kufunda Youth Programme provided their final semester update. The young people from different communities have been learning practical skills like herbal processing, permaculture gardening, and mushroom cultivation. They have also gained life and leadership skills. During this last semester, the youth will prepare to return home to take on challenges in their communities by applying what they've learned. The update highlights some of the youth through portraits and shares their voices about how they hope to make a positive impact, such as starting projects in herbal medicine, permaculture gardens, and youth leadership.
June July 2016 -Final
This newsletter issue from the Friends of Tecolote Canyon highlights upcoming events at the Tecolote Nature Center in June and July, including:
- Family Day on June 4th with nature activities, crafts, and a presentation by a bird calling expert.
- Nature walks on June 11th and various dates in June and July.
- Volunteer opportunities such as Weed Warriors on June 18th and garden work on June 19th.
- A birding walk with the Audubon Society on June 25th.
It also features articles about a new art exhibit at the nature center created by local students, the director of the nature center, and the long partnership between the center and a local elementary school.
Week one
This week, the student began research for their project by messaging companies to participate. They initially chose a cafe but lost contact, so switched to the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust who provided audience profiles. The student analyzed the profiles of Karen, a single mother on a low income, and Phoebe, an activist artist, to understand their interests and determine which audience to target. They researched Karen's demographic information using online tools and chose her profile to create a product that could get her and her kids outdoors. The student also learned background information on the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and felt their initial research put them in a strong position to plan and create an effective product.
Camp auroville 2014
Camp Auroville program is an initiative using Auroville and its outstanding experience in human unity & sustainable living as a platform for the learning and personal growth of students from around the world. The program is based on the H3 approach that nurtures the hands (skills), head (competencies) and heart (inner capacities) of all participants. The progam explored the practical application of ecological stewardship principles in order to pro- mote enhanced human and planetary well-being. This program integrates hands-on learning in attempt to actualize participants’ inner strength, to activate critical system thinking and to work on students’ technical capacities of designing and implementing projects. Ten students in high school or new high school graduates from New Delhi and Chennai participated in this 10-day emersion program held from 20st June to 29th June 2014 at Auroville International Township in Tamil Nadu, India.

Assignment 1
Connie Flachs has started a homesteading project in her expansive backyard in the city. So far she has built a 4x4 foot raised bed and grown some vegetable seeds and herbs in containers on her front porch. She wants to balance food growing areas with open spaces for recreation. After watching videos of other homesteads, she brainstormed elements for her homestead, grouping them into structures, animals, and plants. This exercise revealed gaps in her knowledge and how much she has yet to learn about creating a sustainable homestead.
The hungry crocodile
This document summarizes an English language project for a Pre-Primary classroom called "The Hungry Crocodile". The project involves teaching English to students through stories, songs, games and activities about jungle animals like crocodiles, lions, monkeys and elephants. A wound is a break in the integrity of the skin or tissues, which may be associated with disruption of the structure and function.
Healing is the body’s response to injury in an attempt to restore normal structure and functions.
Healing can occur in two ways: Regeneration and Repair
There are 4 phases of wound healing: hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling. This document also describes the mechanism of wound healing. Factors that affect healing include infection, uncontrolled diabetes, poor nutrition, age, anemia, the presence of foreign bodies, etc.

- 2. HOW DOES MY PROJECT RELATE TO MY MAJOR AND OTHER INTERESTS? I AM A MEMBER OF THE ASPCA I WANT TO BE A LAWYER & POSSIBLY GO INTO THE NEW FIELD OF ANIMAL LAW.
- 3. HOW DID MY PROJECT HELP MY UNDERTANDING OF SENSE OF PLACE & SUSTAINABILITY? The sanctuary provided me with a sense of place because it is in my neighborhood and I also was able to feel close to and comfortable with the animals. I felt at home and almost like I never wanted to leave. The sanctuary is sustainable in that they have used nature that was already on the property to create enclosures for the animals, they recycle, use compost and non abrasive products – they do as much to be self sustainable as possible.
- 4. HOW DID MY PROJECT HELP MY UNDERTANDING OF SENSE OF PLACE & SUSTAINABILITY? Continued… Through spending time outdoors with the animals in nature, getting close with the animals and understanding their surroundings. Although they are not in the wild, they still have the natural wild sense about them and because of their pasts, you have to gain the trust and get to know them.
- 5. HOW DID MY PROJECT CONNECT WITH COLLOQUIUM? A lot of the material in Colloquium related to the natural world. For example, the Colloquium reader, discussions, & A Land Remembered all dealt with becoming one with the natural world. Doing my project at Shy Wolf allowed me to be able to relate to the readings and discussions through hands-on experience. Learning through readings and movies are one thing but hands-on is truly life changing. I am going to continue to help at the Sanctuary even after this project because of the experience and help that I get from nature and the animals.
