On October 2nd, 2019 at 12:30pm we had three speakers from wellstar talk to us about the importance of making connections, how to stick out when going to interviews, and more about the wellstar community. The three speakers were Snehal Doshi, Susan Jackson, and Danella Abdul-Barr. This event took place in lecture hall c and d.

Prior to the Wellstar event I had learned about professionalism within one of my courses here at PCOM. Professionalism taught me how to compose myself for an internship, a job, or to even become an executive member of a club; it’s very important to show and address professionalism to the interviewee. Professionalism demonstrates what you are capable of accomplishing within this field. As an interviewee they don’t know you, you are being judged whether you are fit for the job within minutes. Prior to this event, I knew how important professionalism would be in helping me land my dream position however, after this event I learned that you could be professional but still not land your dream job due to other important factors.

General Surgeon Career Project
This career project describes the path to becoming a general surgeon. It involves obtaining a bachelor's degree with a focus on science and pre-med courses, taking the MCAT, completing a four-year medical school program, and finishing a five-year residency program. General surgeons can expect to earn an average salary of $50,858 during residency, with most earning between $200,000 to $400,000 annually after completing their training. While the career allows one to help heal people, it comes with the downside of irregular hours and significant student loan debt from a lengthy education.

On October 2nd, 2019 at 12:30pm we had three speakers from wellstar talk to us about the importance of making connections, how to stick out when going to interviews, and more about the wellstar community. The three speakers were Snehal Doshi, Susan Jackson, and Danella Abdul-Barr. This event took place in lecture hall c and d.

Prior to the Wellstar event I had learned about professionalism within one of my courses here at PCOM. Professionalism taught me how to compose myself for an internship, a job, or to even become an executive member of a club; it’s very important to show and address professionalism to the interviewee. Professionalism demonstrates what you are capable of accomplishing within this field. As an interviewee they don’t know you, you are being judged whether you are fit for the job within minutes. Prior to this event, I knew how important professionalism would be in helping me land my dream position however, after this event I learned that you could be professional but still not land your dream job due to other important factors.

The Democratic Republic of Congo was originally formed in 1885 and has gone through several name changes, and it is the largest country in Sub-Saharan Africa covering over 905,600 square miles. French is the official language, but there are also four other nationally recognized indigenous languages as well as over 200 other non-recognized languages. The DRC has a troubled history following its civil war in 1998 and currently has no laws protecting women's rights or addressing issues like domestic violence.

Angola is a country in southwestern Africa with a population of over 10 million people and a total area of 481,351 square miles. It has a very low population density of 0 to 5 people per square mile. Portuguese is the primary language spoken. Angola struggles with significant healthcare issues, having only 8 doctors per 100,000 people and a life expectancy of just 47 years old along with an infant mortality rate of 125. Potential solutions proposed include training Angolans in healthcare in America to bring back skills and resources, as well as neighboring countries providing temporary medical care and assistance. Overall life span (LS) was 1671.7±1721.6 days and cumulative 5YS reached 62.4%, 10 years – 50.4%, 20 years – 44.6%. 94 LCP lived more than 5 years without cancer (LS=2958.6±1723.6 days), 22 – more than 10 years (LS=5571±1841.8 days). 67 LCP died because of LC (LS=471.9±344 days). AT significantly improved 5YS (68% vs. 53.7%) (P=0.028 by log-rank test). Cox modeling displayed that 5YS of LCP significantly depended on: N0-N12, T3-4, blood cell circuit, cell ratio factors (ratio between cancer cells-CC and blood cells subpopulations), LC cell dynamics, recalcification time, heparin tolerance, prothrombin index, protein, AT, procedure type (P=0.000-0.031). Neural networks, genetic algorithm selection and bootstrap simulation revealed relationships between 5YS and N0-12 (rank=1), thrombocytes/CC (rank=2), segmented neutrophils/CC (3), eosinophils/CC (4), erythrocytes/CC (5), healthy cells/CC (6), lymphocytes/CC (7), stick neutrophils/CC (8), leucocytes/CC (9), monocytes/CC (10). Correct prediction of 5YS was 100% by neural networks computing (error=0.000; area under ROC curve=1.0).
