2. Catherine McAuley was
born in Dublin on the 29th
of September,1778.

3. Catherine was born in Dublin to James and
Elinor McAuley.
When her father and mother died she went to
live with relatives.

4. She is famous for
founding the
Sisters of Mercy in 1803.

5. Catherine inherited a
fortune and used it to build
a house where she and
other compassionate
women could take in
homeless women and
children to provide care
and an education for them.

6. Sadly in 1841, Catherine died of tuberculosis
that she got from a trip to Birmingham

7. I admire her because she helped a lot of
homeless and poor people.

8. She is an inspirational woman because
she stayed catholic and helped the poor.

9. Facts
Catherine's Mother died when Catherine was
nearly twenty.
The house of Mercy was a house for homeless
women and poor or abused servants
Catherine's sister Mary died in 1827
In 1841 Catherine died of tuberculosis that she
got from a trip to Birmingham. She died at age 63
