The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

2. FashionAlready at the start of this video the key genre fashion
conventions such as minimal clothing and high heels
are highlighted. She is seen with most of her stomach
showing whilst being looked onto by a low angle shot
which has been used to make her look superior but it
also some what elongates her body and has
immediately objectified her.
High heels are a very common fashion item in female
RnB stars music videos and there is a close up onto
her shoes this is not only showing her as a fashion
icon to her fans but it also acts as a form of
advertising because fans will see it and want the
shoes.
The top picture was the opening scene and it shows
her with no trousers on so her fans will be looking at
her and admiring her body, the fact that this is being
shown in the opening scenes highlights the values of
the video.
3. FashionSunglasses and jewellery are key props and
fashion accessories in female RnB videos
because they wont to be portrayed as classy
and elegant. Usually the artist will be wearing a
lot of make-up but as you can see Cassie is not
wearing a lot of make-up it is hardly visible –
this could be because she wants to be
portrayed as a natural beauty. This relates to
the “goddess” ideology that some RnB stars try
to show this idea is reinforced in the second
picture because the background she is standing
in front of connotes a goddess like person. She
is also wearing white in a majority of the video
the colour white shows purity, cleanliness,
virginity this is a theory of women playing limited
roles in music videos but then this idea is then
contrasted to the fact that she is wearing
sunglasses and you cannot see her eyes, this
suggests a sense of mystery.
4. IconographyThis video for Cassie’s Official girl is mostly about objectifying her, she is not
wearing a lot of clothes throughout the video and this sort of relates to the lyrics of
the song because she is talking about her boyfriend missing her when she breaks
up with him. And I suppose she wants to show her fans why he would miss her
because she is a “goddess” type person, she wears a lot of jewellery and all this
jewellery is gold and this shows her as being prestigious this once again relates
back to the goddess ideology. Her make-up is also very soft and natural it almost
looks like her skin is glowing, this emphasises her natural beauty.
5. Analysis
Although this song is a slow song about breaking up it
challenges the common conventions of an RnB break up song
because usually those sorts of songs show the artist being
depressed, being covered up and looking quite side. However in
this video she looks empowered and does not look impressed,
she even has a performance part involved in her video where
she is dancing this is something that you do not usually find in
the average RnB break up song. She still depicts herself in the
same light as a goddess but she does this through objectifying
herself and revealing a majority of her body. She also sticks the
typical break up song convention by wearing natural make-up
and make her skin look like it is glowing however she contrasts
this majorly by wearing sunglasses and covering her eyes which
does not allow the audience to see her emotion and slow RnB
songs are always about emotion and the videos to these songs
usually have many close ups of their eyes.
