Case Study: The Corning Journey to Performance Excellence Part 1 and 2.
This week we have learned that performance excellence, sometimes referred to as business excellence, refers to increasing the consumer’s perception of value and a focused responsibility on the part of organizational members to quickly identify and correct problems. Operational/Performance excellence includes a series of intangible assets that will allow companies to continuously improve in areas of performance and quality that create a competitive advantage for organizations. This supports the theory that while the consumer may play a part in identifying quality issues, the organizational stakeholder has a responsibility for quality and is an important factor in performance and operational excellence. This is also aligned with the concept that all stakeholders share in the benefits of business and performance excellence.
This case study is an examination of the renewal of quality at Corning in the decade since 2002. It is a story of quality, innovation, operating excellence, and renewal, but above all, it is a story of leadership. The great companies overcome the obstacles, and the poor companies fall by the wayside.

Running head: GENDER INEQUALITY

Gender Inequality
Gender inequality is real. Did you know that the world over,
violence on gender is one of
the leading causes of deaths and disabilities among females? It
is more shocking because it kills
more than cancer, road accidents, war and malaria. Inequality
research is a broad aspect that
cannot be exhausted. It has been researched world over by
different researchers and
recommendations issued but it is still thriving in today’s world.
Even though there are
inequalities and injustices to the male gender, the female gender
has suffered more and is still
suffering bias in different aspects of life. Different statistics as
found in the Oxfam New Zealand
website indicates that about 60% of the world’s hungry people
are female (women and girls) and
5. about 2/3 of all children who are denied education are girls with
over 876million of the world’s
population being illiterate women.

GENDER INEQUALITY
Regarding political and leadership positions, women hold about
21% of the parliamentary
seats and 6% own the ministerial posts. Other areas that
inequalities thrive in women are
violence, negligence, poor healthcare services especially during
childbirth and expectancy
7. among other injustices. Due to such shocking statistics, there is
a need for continued research on
this topic until such a time when every part of the world has
realized at least a reasonable
percentage of equal opportunities and treatment to both males
and females.
This project seeks to answer the question; should men and
women be treated as equals?
This will be achieved by thoroughly researching and coming up
with recommendation based on
this thesis statement; While Women can never equal Men,
gender equality should be encouraged
to empower the female gender and contribute positively to
wellbeing of all people because an
empowered female gender would lead to a better world. It
would greatly impact the economy
positively and all people desire equal treatment irrespective of
their gender.

Berman, Y., Eshel, B.-J., & Yoash , S. (2016). The Dynamics of
Wealth Inequality and the Effect
of Income Distribution. PLOS.
Berman et al talks about the shocking news about the increasing
wealth inequality in the
recent years. The research titled The Dynamics of Wealth
Inequality and the Effect of
Income Distribution aims at researching about the underlying
causes of such inequalities
upon which their findings can be used by policy makers and
other stakeholders to control
and reverse the alarming trend. The research is uses a
theoretical approach that is aimed
at showing the contributing factors and how they have affected
the wealth and income
inequality. It is an article that deals with one specific issue of
inequality and how it can
best be dealt with.
11. I find it useful to my project because it will help me understand
how wealth inequality
has come about and what is not being done right to reverse the
trend despite
recommendations by scholars and other researchers in the same
field. The researchers are
credible and therefore using their information as a source for
my project makes it credible
as well.

GENDER INEQUALITY
This is a site that has been tackling inequality related research
stories for over two
decades. It has been a source of news for different stakeholders
15. among them researchers,
activists, and journalists. It deals with policy studies and
provides insights on how best to
understand the inequalities in the world and how we can best
alleviate such inequalities.
It highlights inequalities like gender income gaps, gender
wealth gaps, gender poverty
gaps, transgender economic gaps among others. For each type of
inequality, statistical
information is provided.
This source will be crucial for my project because it gives
details about different
inequalities in the world especially among the discriminated
gender and also give
statistical data on the same. This is crucial information for me
because it will make me
better understand where the world stands in the fight against
inequality. It will also help
me get scientific backing on the rates of inequalities in the
world today and this is crucial
information for any researcher.

authored by Ferdinand Mount, these social evils are centered on
inequality and the

types of inequalities.
Article focuses on Britain and shows how such inequalities have

around the politics, outcomes,
opportunities, treatment and social belonging. According to the
author, the inequalities
have created a world divided between “uppers” and “lowers”.
