Lady Gaga – Just Dance
Lady Gaga was one of the main influences on our music video as she is a very
popular pop star with songs that are big in many different countries. Lady Gaga is a
very unique character who likes to stand out in everything she does, which is why she
was such an influence when planning and creating our own music video.
This shot is one of the first shots within the video; it is very effective as you are only
being shown part of the character. From this shot you instantaneously get a feel of the
characters personality; you can see that she is very confident and quite feisty as she
just walks over the people lying on the floor. I feel that starting the video in this ways
keeps the viewer intrigued as you are kept in suspense as the singer is not revealed to
you straight away.

The style of make-up used within this video is very bold and eye catching which is a
key feature within pop videos. This style of make-up immediately attracts the
attention of the viewer and keeps you following the singer and wanting to watch the
rest of the video. The close-up of this shot is an effective way of showing the facial
expressions of the singer, the facial expressions used show there is a lot of confidence
on the singer and you can tell she is comfortable in front of the character. Being
confident in your performance is a key feature within pop videos as they are usually
very performance based.
The mise en scene used shows sophistication and matches the style and genre of the
song; the locations are realistic and relate to the lyrics of the song. The singer uses the
props effectively and takes advantage of the space she is given. There are a variety of
shots used within the video which create meaning for the viewer, the use of jump cuts
are also a key feature of pop videos. The style of our video was largely influenced by
this video however, we kept are ideas original so it differed from that already out in
the media.

The costume used within this video is very effective and creates a sense of funkiness
whilst looking sexy at the same time. The costumes of the singer are changed
throughout the video, showing variety and creating a look that relates to the lyrics of
the song. The star persona of the singer also relates to the lyrics and the genre of the
song, she shows confidence, attitude and makes you feel captured in the song.
