2. La meva besàvia nasqué a Colombià l’any del mil nou-cents catorze. Conegué al meu besavi l’hotel on ell treballà en el
manteniment del hotel. Tení dos fills després d’estar cassada tres anys. Quan el meu besavi morí degut a una malaltia, la meva
besàvia es va anar a viure a Holanda amb el seu fill, el meu avi, inclòs va trobar treball allà. Viuré sis anys allà, fins que cauré
malalta de Alzheimer. Després de un anys morí a la edat de vuitanta set anys, perquè ja no va poder aguantar la malaltia
Estimada besàvia:
Potser no em recordis, he viscut molt poc temps al seu costat, sóc el fill de la teva néta més jove. Vostè va
morir quan jo era encara molt petit i per això no la recordo molt bé. Des de petit em van dir que en els
pocs anys que vam passar junts em va tenir un gran afecte, per això vaig decidir parlar amb la
meva mare, o sigui la seva néta, per aprendre més coses de la meva família.
Em va parlar de moltes coses, tantes que no hi hauria espai en aquesta carta per recordar-
li totes aquelles anècdotes.
Vam començar des del principi. Em va dir que ets la més petita de dos germans i que la vostra situació
econòmica no era molt bona, el que semblava una cosa normal en aquella època. També vam parlar de com
va conèixer el seu marit, o sigui el meu besavi. Segons la meva mare, va començar a treballar a un hotel com
a recepcionista, allà es va fer amic d'un home que treballava en el manteniment de l’hotel, era el
quen’ arreglava els desperfectes, el que canviava les bombetes que es trencaven i el que revisava els errors que
podia tenir qualsevol maquinària. Poc a poc, el que va començar com una simple amistat es va convertir en
amor i vau decidir casar-vos. Tot això em va sorprendre bastant, ja que jo pensava que aquell tipus de coses
tan sol passaven als actors de les pel·lícules.
Als tres anys d'estar casats vau tenir una filla i poc després a un nen que seria el meu avi.
Quan ell ja tenia una certa edat va conèixer a la meva àvia i van tenir tres filles. Per si no se’n recordes, la
del mig és la meva mare. També em va dir que era molt complicat criar a tres filles amb el sou que tenia el
meu avi, així que va decidir anar-se´n a Holanda, el país d'on era el seu cunyat i on vivia la
seva germana, o sigui la seva filla. Primer se’n va anar ell i després, quan ja va aconseguir-ne un
estabilitat econòmica, una casa i una feina, va enviar a buscar a la seva família. Suposo que això no li va
agradar a ningú, sobretot a vostè, perquè separar-se de la família és molt complicat encara que ja sigui
gran, a més les seves filles o sigui, les seves nétes també se n’hi van anar.
Pel que em va contar, es veu que la meva família va sofrir molt abans de que jo nasqués. Això em deixar
una mica malhumorat, però com vostè sap aquí no s’acaba la història.
Quan el seu marit va morir, el meu avi li va dir si volia anar a viure amb ells, però vostè no volia ja que
Colòmbia era el país on havia viscut tota la seva vida. Una cosa normal, jo també ho faria perquè canviar
3. de lloc és una cosa que no m’agrada gens, has de deixar a tota la gent que estimes i això no em
fagràcia.Però vostè ja era una mica gran i el meu avi li va anar a buscar.
Als pocs anys vas caure malalta, però va viure el suficient com per veure’m néixer, perquè quan jo tenia
quatre anys va morir. Quan la meva mare em va dir això em vaig posar molt trist, no és una frase que et
diguin gaire, però en certa manera també estava content, m’agrada saber que vaig poder viure amb vostè.
M’agradaria poder haver passar molt més temps amb vostè, pot ser així la recordaria una mica millor.
Però estic content d’haver compartit temps amb vostè.
