The True Meaning of a Religion
The true meaning of a religion
Religion can be found almost everywhere around us, influencing ones lifestyle and surroundings
much more than we are aware of. Often becoming a huge element of society in several areas of our
lives. Though some argue one is born already knowing their religious faith, classifying religion as
something that cannot be learned but more as an inner spirituality present at birth. Other would say
there is no doubt religion is socially constructed and subconsciously learned plus spread through
peers, family or close ones, strongly impacting societies and cultures. Some sort of hidden objective

Haile Selassie, was the 225th in an unbroken line of Ethiopian monarchs descended from biblical
King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba (Rastafari Movement). Some believe he is the reincarnation
of Jesus. They believe that Jesus was a direct descendant of Kind David, represented in the
Ethiopian Solomonic Dynasty. We believe ourselves to be the original Lost Tribes of Israel that
were once scattered, but now found because of the preservation and appearing of Judah, David s
seed, in the person of His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Sealssie I. We will be returned to
Ethiopia by God s will and power (Napti). Leading to the belief that there is a misinterpretation of
the physical characteristics of Jesus by European artists, and affects the pride and dignity of the
Ethiopians.

European Union s Emission Trading Scheme
Despite the efficiency of the European Union s emission trading scheme (or EU ETS) with its
economic and environmental policy designed to reduce the greenhouse gas and carbon dioxide
emissions within the earth s atmosphere, further research have revealed the strengths and weakness
that EU ETS experience while determining how much greenhouse gas and carbon dioxidea country
can emit. One of the main strengths of EU ETS is its cost effectiveness. Limiting the amount of
greenhouse gases and carbon dioxide emitted requires a market based policy instrument such as a
trading market (European Commission, 2005) to ensure that the emitted gases are restricted in the
most economical way. Canadian economist John Dales (1968) suggests that a market of... Show

The success of its cost effectiveness resulted in a few mistakes that occurred during phase 1 that
caused a weak point in the scheme.
The EU ETS has been known exist with a typical weakness. On April 16th the European Parliament
voted to reject an attempt to bolster Europe s flagship environmental programme, the Emissions
Trading System (The economist, 2013), mainly because of the exceeded limit of emission.
Carbon has been known to harm the globe, and no wonder there is a price to it. During Phase 1
(2005 2007) of the EU ETS, there had been a massive overcapacity in the carbon market (The
economist, 2013). Companies were being allocated allowances based on previous emissions and
not being auctioned; while auction remains a more efficient way to allocate emission allowances
creating a carbon market. (Mak, 2011). The surplus was 1.5 billion 2 billion tones or about a year
s emissions (The economist, 2013). This shows how the newborn phase 1 were victims of the first
mistakes made by the EU ETS. Countries such as Germany, France and Poland were furthermore
assigned additional allowances thus not respecting the restrictions of the ETS (Mak, 2011), also,
not complying with the Harmonisation Law; which aims to create a consistency of laws and
regulations in the business so that one country does not obtain an economic advantage as a result of

How Did Rock N Roll Influence Pop Culture
Rough Draft For music to endure for centuries it has to have, in addition to wondrous sound, but
an image of its composer that electrifies for generations. Rock N Roll has it all, yet to understand
it deeply we must understand the fathers. Chuck Berry plunged his guitar into his amp and
turned the hairs of his audience electric. Elvis Presley, the heartthrob of the south would give
Rock N Roll its image for the next decade while America started to find out who it was and what
their bleak future had in store for them. Chuck Berry had a distinct sound that gave him an edge
in finding his audience. He began using the call and response with his volume pumped up guitar.
He would evoke not just image but raw skill where he can make his guitar do the singing for him
while he s accompanied by his backing band. Elvis Presley never did write many of his songs.
Most were written by his bandmates yet Elvis gave the music its charm and eventually its
glorified time. He put Rock N Roll in the spotlight of pop audiences and drew out audiences
consisting of young teenage girls who adored his good looks yet also bringing out the image of
cool for boys to imitate. FINAL DRAFT... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Application Virtualization For A Virtual Machine Monitor (...
1.Introduction
Virtualization is a term used to describe technology that uses abstraction to instruct a guest
operating system, data storage, or network device to use underlying shared hardware or software
as described by Pearce et al. [1]. Abstraction is managed at a software layer known as a virtual
machine monitor (VMM) or hypervisor. The VMM or hypervisor emulates hardware to guest
operating systems and applications, which includes core processor unit (CPU), memory, input
/output (I/O), and network traffic [1, pp.2]. There are different areas of virtualization, which include
server virtualization, application virtualization, network virtualization, storage virtualization, and
desktop virtualization [1, pp.8]. The branching out of virtualization into different areas displays the
rapid growth of this technology.
The VMM and hypervisor software layer provides security challenges that should be addressed in
order to protect resources and data within virtualization. For example, this additional layer of
technology opens up new paths which an attacker can use to break into and interrupt a system or
network. The VMM can also be a single point of failure in a virtualized environment [1, pp. 33]. If
the VMM is compromised, then the virtual environment managed by the VMM could be
compromised as well.
The primary focus of this literature review will be physical hosts, which are VMMs and
hypervisors managing a virtualization environment. The Important Ideas section will

Analysis Of IRL Fetish By Nathan Jurgenson
The rapid expansion of technological advancement is engulfing our culture. The author of IRL
Fetish, Nathan Jurgenson argues that people have a weird interest in the world of offline.
Technological advances are leading people into the realm of online, but Jurgenson also realizes
the glorification of movement to offline. People who believe online world is destroying the real
life connection and many writers lament, Writer after writer laments the loss of a sense of
disconnection, of boredom (now redeemed as a respite from anxious info cravings) ...
(Jurgenson 127). People who are saying technological advances is removing people from the real
life so they think they can create a world where online does not exist. This new movement is
educating the world that phone must be put away and boast about being offline. In IRL Fetish by
Nathan Jurgenson, the author illustrates the practice of fetishizing of the offline world creates a
misrepresentation of online and the offline world. In the article, Jurgenson highlights many details
how people are boasting about their self control to stay offline. One example is when the author
mentions about Turkle s experience at Cape Cod. Turkle leads the chorus that insists that taking
time out is becoming dangerously difficult and that we need to follow their lead and log off
(127). Jurgenson criticizes her and people who are like her because these people are focusing too
much on the idea of offline, and they naГЇvely think they can escape the

Electronic Technology For Curriculum Observation
Electronic Technology for Curriculum Observation Documentation Michelle Valladares MGMT
7003 December 4, 2014 Many childcare centres in North America have introduced technology as
a natural element of the classroom. Young learners have become part of the iGeneration in which
the use of technology comes to be a natural way of learning, interacting with others and making
sense of the world (Pellerin, 2012). In regards to documentation and assessment, there have been
different digital tools that are creating a new way of evaluating and observing how children learn.
According to research by Pellerin (2012), assessment for the 21st century learning and teaching
requires a shift from assessment of learning toward assessment strategies for learning. In order for
teachers to understand assessment strategies for learning they must see documentation under a new
digital perspective. Documentation now includes gathering of tangible evidence from a variety of
means such as learning stories, photographs, video and audio recordings of the students learning
process (ELECT, 2007). Effective documentation will not only gather information but also tell a
story and purpose of an event, experience, or development. In a digital era, technology tools and
applications like Ipads and Ipods are creating a learning experience for children, teachers and
families unlike any other tools in the past. In the 21 century, almost every educator and adult in

Net Neutrality Essay
As protests continue to protect net neutrality, more online companies join in by displaying
warnings on their websites, stating how the FCC, or the Federal Communications Commission,
will change the rules for net neutrality which would affect the way people will use the internet.
Sites such as Reddit, Esty, and Kickstarter included these warning in the form of pop up boxes and
Kickstarter cleared its home page to communicate to users with the message Defend Net Neutrality.
On Tuesday, the large tech companies did not participate in the protest. A senior vice president at
Public Knowledge, Harold Feld, said: the biggest tech companies were less vocal because they were
facing more regulatory battles than in past years. Moreover, big tech companies encountered
complaints from some lawmakers stating that they became too influential.... Show more content on

The definition of Net Neutrality is the principle that internet service providers should enable access
to all content and applications regardless of the source, and without favoring or restricting access
to certain products or websites. If this principle were to be repealed, the government will decide
what is put on the internet and you would have to pay to access some websites or apps, or
internet providers might just block access to particular apps. I agree with the fight to defend net
neutrality because the internet is an important source of information. If net neutrality were to be
repealed, we would have limited access to information. This article is important enough to share
in the news because the news websites could be blocked because of the things that they report on.
For example, someone with a higher authority may want a news network blocked by the news they
report. I believe this is textbook worthy because this is a problem that could, in a way, affect the
First Amendment such as freedom of speech and freedom of the

Mexican Peso Case Study Essay
1. Take a look at Mexico s balance of payments over the past few years. Use the schedule I have
attached to the case it is in the same format as we used to examine the U.S. balance of payments.
What do the trade and current account balances suggest about the likelihood of a potential
devaluation of the peso? Why? a. It suggests that because Mexico is importing twice as much as
they are exporting that there is a strong chance that the peso will lose value to counter the constant
increase in imports. It is also important to point out that the exports in 1974 and 1975 are
practically the same. The current account balance is negative 4 billion U.S. dollars which is 4
times larger than it was in 1972. All this leads me to believe that the... Show more content on

The increase in reserves is them trying to prevent or delay the devaluation. From just this data
alone however I would not believe that the peso is at risk of being devaluated. 5. Take a look at
Exhibit 7 and the forward discounts on the peso versus the dollar. On June 18, what did the
market think the peso was likely to do over the next three months? On August 27, what did the
market think the peso was likely to do versus the dollar over the next three months? Between
June and August, what was the market saying about the magnitude and/or probability of a
devaluation of the peso over the next three months? a. On June 18th it was believed that over a 3
month period that the peso would depreciate 20% vs. the U.S. dollar and on August 27th it was
believed that the peso would only depreciate 9.08% over the same time frame. During that time
frame the market thought there was a less and less chance that the peso was going to get
devaluated. 6. Look at the commercial bank lending rates to prime borrowers in Exhibit 8.
Based on these nominal prime borrowing rates, would you expect the peso to appreciate or
depreciate against the dollar and by how much? Why? a. If using the December 1975lending
rates, the peso would depreciate against the dollar by 5.9% because Mexico s interest rate is
nearly twice as high as the United States . 7. What should be the PPP Mexican

The History of Poliomyelitis Essay
Public awareness of and concern for persons with disabilities was virtually non existent until the
poliomyelitis epidemic during the mid twentieth century focused attention on the plight of disabled
Americans. As the epidemiology of the disease evolved, poliomyelitis, polio for short, evolved
from a disease of poor immigrants, living in crowded, filthy conditions to an affliction that struck
across the social strata affecting the middle and upper classes. Pervasive fear of polio and its
consequences coupled with the President of the United States, Franklin Delano Roosevelt s, public
struggle with the disease and its complications propelled the fight against polio and its associated
disabilities to the national forefront. Through efforts... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Poliovirus in the nervous system leads to paralytic polio the most devastating form of the disease.
The onset of paralysis can be rapid, but the severity depends on the number of neurons affected.
There is no cure for the disease, and victims may be left with permanent consequences from their
illness. Post polio syndrome may affect polio survivors, even those with benign initial
manifestations, years after recovery from their initial insult. Although rarely life threatening, post
polio syndrome results in weakening of previously affected muscles causing significant interference
with the individual s ability to function independently. Polio in the United States: FDR, public
awareness and development of the vaccine. By the early twentieth century, there were major polio
epidemics in Europe and the United States. People exposed to poliovirus were conferred immunity
even if they were asymptomatic. Improvements in sanitation resulted in reduced fecal
contamination of water and food sources, thereby diminishing exposure to the poliovirus and
decreasing immunity. As the nation challenged itself to improve the living conditions for its
citizens, it unintentionally led to the epidemic spread of polio. The disease once considered an

The Invention Of The Ipod Essay
Assessment 1 Part 1
1.Invention is the process of creating something new meaning or for the first time. When applied
to any organisation, it can either be designing a new product, a new service or even a new process.
Innovation is the process of creating new value using advance knowledge produced as a result of
invention.
An example in differentiating between Invention and Innovation is given below.
Back in the year 2001, the first iPod was released; it was not actually an inventive product. In fact
MP3 players /Walkman were already been around for a few years. The first MP3 Players
/Walkman were put on the market in the year 1998. Nevertheless the iPod was the first to be really
an innovation. It was the very first to allow a thriving transition of new ideas into tangible societal
impact . The combination of elements such as its visual design, its ease of use and the most
significant was the iTunes software that allowed the user to manage and purchase music online.
With the example mentioned above, MP3 Players/Walkman was the invention and iPod was the
innovation.
In comparison to invention and innovation, I would consider Innovation to be more important than
invention. To serve new markets, innovation creates new products and services which enable an
organisation to expand its range of beneficiaries or market base. On the other hand, it may lead to
product and service enhancement, such as improved quality or service flexibility. An example that
can illustrate this is

There comes a time when we all come across a specific test such as school tests, driving test, or
even as simple as food tasting test. However, there is a difference between regular tests and testing

psychiatrists, psychologists, and school counselors use to determine certain abilities, however each
of the tests are used for a specific purpose. It is vital for the individuals to contain high knowledge

Second, the achievement tests are created to help determine the placements of students in school
based on their knowledge and skills. Achievement tests are subdivides in to batteries, single subject,
and certification and licensing, government sponsored programs, and individual assessment tests
(Hogan, 2007). Third of the major category tests is the personality tests, with this test professionals
are able to determine the reasoning of the human personality. Within this category it is also
alienated into other subdivisions such as objective tests and projective techniques (Hogan, 2007).
Next is the interest and attitudes tests, these tests are put together to help individuals maintain focus
on a specific subject of interests either if it is in school or in a job placement. This category is
subdivided by vocational interests and attitude scales (Hogan, 2007). Lastly, the neuropsychological
tests, the main purpose of this test is to illustrate information of the functioning of the central
nervous system, mainly focusing on the information coming from the human brain (Hogan, 2007).
Uses and Users Just as all psychological tests are categorized, not all tests are applied for the
same use and the same users. Each test is done by a trained or professional to determine what is
the situation based on the results and to see what treatment is best for the individual. There are four
major psychological tests users are clinical, educational,

IIntracellular trafficking is an essential cellular communication process in which membrane vesicles
carrying lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids are taken up and transported through endosomes to
lysosomes (termed endocytosis) and vesicles carrying macromolecules are delivered to the plasma

is required for prolific growth and differentiation. For example, uptake of transferrin provides iron
necessary for growth and parasitism of the parasite Plasmodium falciparum [2]. In contrast, the

Shakespeare s Influence On Modern Theatre
Drama is one of the most intriguing forms of literature. Unlike typical literature, drama is put into
the form of a script in which actors must take the roles of the characters and act out their given
dialogue in front of an audience. Drama is particularly composed of dialogue, the lines spoken by
the characters, stage directions, the actions in which the actor must take, and scenes, the events of
each play which are acted out. Plays do not typically contain narrators that tell the story. Instead the
actors depict the characters within a story and present it to an audience. Dramatic theater,
presumably started within ancient Greece, where the citizens performed presentations as a devotion
to religious gods or to mark the coming of spring. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, plays were able to be depicted at night due to the implementation of candles, which
allow for more lighting. Although, his was still an issue since actors now needed to be over the
candle in order to properly illuminate themselves, which was highly dangerous. Additionally, other
factors, which influenced modern day theatre, would be implemented such as, an easier system in
order to set up the scenery or setting of the play, and women were finally introduced into acting.
Within the twentieth century, plays began to take a major revolution. Infact, technology
advancements enabled a variety of opportunities for plays, such as electric lights, which were safer
and provided a vast amount of lighting for the actors, and microphones, which allowed the actors to
speak loud enough that the entire audience could hear them. Additionally, the setting of plays
became more realistic allowing for the fourth wall to be eliminated, essentially getting rid of the
original chorus. Theatres also became enclosed, allowing for the elimination of weather and audible
issues. As plays became more realistic, playwrights introduced surrealistic stage settings , where the
setting reflected the current conflict or dream, and they introduced the expressionist stage setting ,
where the costumes or scenery were distorted in order to reflect the current struggle or unbalanced
mind. Separate stages were also introduced in order to blur the line of reality and the play, for the
audience members. However, although the most common theatre stage is the picture frame stage,
theatre is not, in under any circumstances, limited to only one

Science In Between the War
From the sponsorship given the Casa de ContrataciГіn by Queen Isabella to the government funding
of many ongoing scientific experiments, science has always been heavily linked with politics.
Political power often collaborates with technological development in such a manner that societal
ideals reflected in the political regime correlates with the objectives behind scientific
development. As a result, conflict of political powers as manifested in war leads to an agitation
of scientific objectives and a consequent shift in material progress as scientific exploration
becomes oriented in a different direction. This leads to the creation of new materials targeted
towards increasing the advantage held by the patron country in the war of political ideals. The
ideas Einstein expressed in his letter to the League of American Writers pertain to the dichotomy
between fascism and democracy in the context of scientific progress, collaborating with the
historical context of the letter to establish the impact of the end of World War II as well as the
beginning of the age known as the Cold Waron scientific progress, influencing scientific relations

The story Country Lovers was written in 1975 when times were different then they are today.
This story was written about a farmer s son and one of the children of the farm s help. There are
many aspects of this story that are wrong but the most pronounced one is the racial segregation.
Even though certain races are perceived as inferior to some, there should be no such thing because
we all need to work together to make the planet a better place and lives are ruined over racial this
segregation. The theme of this story is about tough choices and racial divides. Throughout the ...

She also changed her testimony at the trial saying that she never saw what she said she did
during the preliminary inquiry. It is not made clear why she said that she saw him pour the
liquid down the baby s throat when what she heard were baby grunts as if the baby s stomach
were full. All of this truly shows how much she cared for Paulus. This story is about a place that
is really hard for some of us in America to understand because we do not live with this amount of
segregation. In certain places in Africa it is very strict on racial divides even to this day. Even with
the world stage crying for equality in race, ethnic and gender there are many countries today that
still have strict ethnic and racial divides as well as strict rules on the roles of women. Stories like
this one should be part of any school s curriculum. I did not know that countries were still like
this until I was in my late teens early twenties. I received a big dose of cultural sensitivity
training on my plane ride to Afghanistan in later 2001. I saw the horrible ways that women are
treated over there and I saw this again on a trip to the horn of Africa. I use the word horrible
because that is what it is to me by the standards I was raised with, but it is just normal life to them.

Jim seemingly could not bear school, but what kept his hopes up was prairie baseball. It was the
same as regular baseball, except the games were played in a field that was the equivalent to a

team, so Jim had to run against friends in unofficial meets. As Jim once said, Our lives were lived
in the open, winter and summer. We were never in the house when we could be out of it, and we
played hard. I emphasize this because the boys who would grow up to be strong men, must lay the
foundation in a vigorous youth.
In May of 1896, Hiram decided to take Jim and Charlie hunting. They made plans for the trip and
both boys grew very excited every day. However on the day of the trip, Charlie fell violently ill
and was unable to go on the trip. Still enthused about the trip, Jim and Hiram set off and
dedicated the trip to Charlie. That day on his first hunting trip Jim saw a deer. He aimed his rifle
at the deer and as Hiram looked on, Jim shot the deer almost directly in the heart and dropped it
where it stood. Jim was excited and couldn t wait to get back and show Charlie what had
happened, so a few days later they packed up and headed home. The day they returned home they
received bad news; Charlie had been sent to the infirmary in

Bletchley Blitz Research Paper
Unraveling the Enigma
Code breaking was a crucial part of the secret efforts of the allied forces during World War II.
Though modern day code breaking is a feat which can be achieved by means of using advanced
technology, during World War II, code breaking was a vital and dangerous endeavour. The Nazi s
Enigma code was one of the most difficult and essential ciphers to unscramble. The Bletchley Park
code breakers actually created what was considered the first prototype of a computer for the
purpose cracking the Enigma code. In deciphering the Enigma code many lives were lost, however,
a larger number of lives were saved. The Coventry Blitz was a prime example of how lives were

Before World War II, Coventry was an important manufacturing and engineering city in England

information about one of the main Nazi attacks on Coventry, codenamed Operation Moonlight
Sonata to the Nazis. News of this attack was revealed to Churchill through FW Winterbotham, a
British Royal Air Force officer who supervised the distribution of ULTRA intelligence (Winston
Churchill). ULTRA was the codename for any vital information obtained from the intercepted
Nazi Enigma messages (History). Winterbotham delivered the intelligence to Churchill when
Coventry s name was decrypted from Nazi messages on November 14, 1940 at 3:00 PM, the
afternoon before the raid (Winston Churchill). The November 14th raid was the most vicious
attack Coventry experienced during World War II. Nazi bombers released a deadly amount of
dangerous explosives on Coventry. Of the 568 people killed, more than 400 were burned so
badly that they were unidentifiable. More than 60 000 buildings were destroyed, including 27
war factories (History). Although Churchill knew in advance that the Nazis would attack
Coventry, he deliberately withheld the information because warning the city of Coventry and its
residents of the imminent threat would have alerted the Nazis that their codes had been cracked.
Had the Nazis known that their codes had been unravelled, they would begin using a different
form of coded messaging, thus rendering the progress of the code breakers useless. (Daily Mail

What Is The Mood Of Chapter 9 Of Lord Of The Flies
Lord of the Flies Chapter 9 Structural Analysis
In his novel Lord of the Flies, William Golding writes an unsettling story about the horrific
reality of human nature and the battle one faces between humanity and savagery when
civilization is taken away. Set during World War III, a group of boys aged six to twelve years
old are stranded on an island with no resources except the ones they can acquire from the island.
The boys create a civilization with rules for themselves in order to survive. As the novel
progresses, the civilization unravels and the boys humanity lays on a fragile line, bordering on
savagery. In his novel, Golding uses many structural elements to achieve a specific effect on the
reader. One specific example is in the haunting passage in which the boys are overcome by
bloodlust to kill the Beast and eventually murder one of their own, Simon. By using ... Show more

As the boys bloodlust increases, they chant, Kill the beast! Cut his throat! Spill his blood! The
chanting continues as they pounce on Simon, ready for the kill. Golding intersperses repeated
chanting throughout the passage as the boys got closer and closer to killing the beast. By doing
this, Golding shows how determined the boys were on killing the beast. The repeated chant is a
constant reminder of their final goal, to brutally kill the beast. This causes an unsettling feeling for
the reader because the closer Simon s murder gets, the more the boys bloodlust increases. The
continuous chant about spilling the beast s blood implies a horribly brutal and bloody death for
Simon as the boys cannot recognize the difference between Simon and the Beast in their animal like
state, causing the reader to feel unsettled about the future and Simon s fate. Thus, by repeating the
chant of the boys, Golding emphasizes the increasing bloodlust as the boy s pounce on their prey,
Simon, creating an unsettling

sides, and does not give too much or too little. The repetition of the phrase I want a wife adds
emphasis to the essay. It also makes it memorable. Throughout the essay the phrase I want a wife

Gilgamesh knows this to be true because he tells his friend Enkidu before the battle that all the
glory will be theirs if they are to defeat this mighty foe. Another example of Gilgamesh s wisdom
as an intelligent leader is how he looks to others that are older and more experienced for advice
throughout the entire story. All the way through the story Gilgamesh looks up to his mother for
counseling and advice as to what he is suppose to do in different areas of his life. A leader who
is consistently seeking advice and wisdom from those who are older and more seasoned truly
makes that person an intelligent leader, and that is exactly what Gilgamesh does. Gilgamesh,
being a religious man, knows that he could not have accomplished the things that he did on his
own. Consistently he is giving thanks to other people or to the gods for his many feats. After
Gilgamesh had slain the bull from heaven he was quick to honor and give thanks to his god
Shamash. They butchered and bled the bull and then cut out it s heart to offer as a sacrifice
before Shamash. Then Gilgamesh and Enkidu retreated from the altar itself and stood afar in deep
respect as they did pray. (pg. 27) And even before he fights the bull Gilgamesh looks to Enkidu and
says, Be unrelenting and hope that God gives us the strength. (pg. 26) Both of these quotes
demonstrate that Gilgamesh knew that he could not kill the beast Humbaba on his own, and that he

in their personal experiences as well as in the experiences of others they knew, but Harriet Jacobs
phenomenally described the dynamics of the relationship between many female slaves and their
superiors with these words from her personal narrative, Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl (1861).
Before slavery was outlawed it was not uncommon for young female slaves to be sexually
abused and exploited by their masters. Although many people know about the cruelty of the
sexual assaults that made too many young girls victims of rape in the Antebellum South, most
people are unaware of the complexity of the issue and how many different ways these women
were abused. The power and authority given to overseers on plantations in the Antebellum South
often led to a misuse of power, particularly in regards to enslaved young women. Overseers were
slaves chosen by the master to control the fields on bigger plantations to keep the slaves in line
and on task. However, sometimes this power led to abuse. An unnamed slave told of a young girl
he knew who caught the eye of one of the overseers on the plantation she worked on. Her mother
told her to stay away from him because she knew what he would do to her if she did not. In the

Imperialism: a policy of extending a country s power and influence through diplomacy or military
force. There is more to imperialism than what is in the definition. Imperialism isn t just power and
influence or military force, its culture and that countries way of living to. It s in our history. Just
look at what the pilgrims did to the Indians. They used somewhat military force on them and
enslaved them. The they forced their culture and religious beliefs on them like Christianity and how
they dress. Imperialism was a disorganized phenomenon involving incredible violence, plunder,
resistance, and heated debate. It involved state power and private enterprise but also led to changes
in culture. (Smith, Bonnie G. Imperialism: a History in Documents. Oxford University Press,
2000.) Global Imperialism first started in the 15th century. In the late 15th century European states
Portugal, Spain, France, the Netherlands, and England started a new phase of imperial development
when they began sending their people to many parts of the world.... (Smith, Bonnie G. Imperialism:
a History in Documents. Oxford University Press, 2000.) Religious authorities undertook to
Christianize the indigenous, or local, people, further adding to the colonizing impulse. Imperialist
fought to imperialize countries or certain parts of the world. Even people of the same race fought
against each other. People where fighting against other people to enslave and imperialize other
countries or other parts

W.E.B. DuBois The Souls of Black Folk Essay
W.E.B. DuBois The Souls of Black Folk
W.E.B. DuBois, in The Souls of Black Folk describes the very poignant image of a veil between
the blacks and the whites in his society. He constructs the concept of a double consciousness,
wherein a black person has two identities as two completely separate individuals, in order to
demonstrate the fallacy of these opinions. J.S. Mill also describes a certain fallacy in his own
freedom of thought, a general conception of individuals that allows them to accept something
similar to DuBois double consciousness and perpetuates the existence of the veil.
DuBois double consciousness is quite simply the twoness of American Negroes. It is this sense of
always looking at one s self through the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As DuBois looks through the veil, he can see a world that he loves, but cannot belong to because it
belongs to the whites. The veil perpetuates the concept of alienation from the world to which he
knows he will never belong. From the other side, whites look through at blacks, and construct their
own opinions of the opposing race, and in doing so, create an opinion that is accepted by blacks
themselves. The distortion created by the veil muddles the world of the whites and also the self
knowledge within each individual on the black side of the veil.
This sort of idea is the same thing that Mill critiques in the early parts of On Liberty. Mill
discusses that few think it necessary to take any precautions against their own fallibility, or
admit the supposition that any opinion, of which they feel very certain, may be one of the
examples of error to which they acknowledge themselves to be liable. (Mill 615). Herein lies the
problem of the whites, as over time they have come to accept their own ideas of the blacks in the
United States without accepting the possibility of their own fallibility. Mill would argue that
dissenting voices need to be heard in order to bring forth the right opinions, but with the veil the
DuBois discusses, this is an impossibility. Mill discusses the infallibility of the the world in
general (Mill 615) that is accepted by individuals living in a particular place.

Essay on The Message of Rip Van Winkle
Rip looked, and beheld a precise counterpart of himself, [It appears Rip has seen an exact mirror
image of himself the way others have always perceived him] as he went up the mountain [This
was the way he was before his quot;sleep, quot; or journey up the mountain] : apparently as lazy,
and certainly as ragged [Before he encountered the party on the mountain, he was a casual, rough
and lazy person] . The poor fellowwas now completely confounded [It appears to everyone that
Rip Jr. was confused in his thoughts, however, just as Rip Sr. was, he knew exactly what was
going through his head it appeared he had a plan for everything] . He doubted his own identity, and
whether he was himself or another man [I believe Rip... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He sees how people perceived him and realizes the changes that need to be made, and wants to be
someone else] quot;
If there s one passage in this story that would summarize the entire story it would be this one. Every
theme throughout Rip Van Winkleis touched on somewhere in here and the constant theme of
quot;who Rip is quot; is the underlying question of both this story and this passage. In the
beginning of the story I think we all took a liking to such a friendly character who cares so much
about pleasing everyone. However, towards the end of the story Rip seems to examine his life and
realizes that he doesn t like everything about himself, and that quite possibly some changes are in
order.
We sometimes get so wrapped up in helping and pleasing everyone else around us we forget to
pay attention to our own needs and those especially close to us. Just as what happened to Rip in
his personal and family life, it s obvious that some adjustments need to be made. Rip was a kind
caring person and apparently was always willing to give a hand. It seems everyone in the village
took a certain liking to Rip. Yet his family life needs a lot of attention.
Rip didn t take care of his own farm, fences, wife or children. It can be compared to the shoe maker
without shoes. You spend too much time caring for others needs that the ones closest to you go
unattended. The last thing you want to do is

3d Printing History
Its One thing to 3D print something as advanced and cutting edge as a Jet engine motor, but it is
another to fuel it up, take it to the runway and push the start button. This is the stride GE
aviation achieved when it fired up the motor of a simple Jet engine, made completely of in
house designed and 3D printed parts, at a test stand normally reserved for commercial jet
engines. GE Aviation is a world leading provider of jet and turboprop engines, components and
integrated systems for commercial, military, business and general aviation aircraft propulsion
applications. GE Aviation has a global service network to support these offerings. 3D printing or
additive manufacturing is a process of making three dimensional solid objects from a digital
design. The creation of a 3D printed object is achieved using additive processes. In an additive
process the desired object is created by laying down successive layers of material (usually molten
alloy or plastics) until the entire object is formed. Each of these layers can be seen as a thinly
sliced horizontal cross section of the eventual object.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The best part is that the nozzles, like those used in the best selling Leap engine manufactured by
GE Aviation, were traditionally machined from 20 separate parts. Now with 3D printing, each
nozzle is one solid part, assembled by layering powdered metal melted and fused together with
lasers. With 19 fuel nozzles per engine, it s a substantial difference that helps to streamline the
manufacturing and assembly process. It also cuts down on design

Examples Of Melting Pot In America
Melting Pot in America
I have always this question in my mind is America really a melting pot, Does America even have
their own culture. To me the melting pot is different cultures being represented, it is kind of like
you are making food and in order for that food to be good you put ingredients to make it nice. That
is what America is, it is different cultures being shown making it such a unique country. I do not yet
think America has acknowledge diversity for example in the short story Lullaby the Native
American and Americans are separated from each other but yet they live near each other. Their
culture is not being shown but yet being taken away when the doctor takes her kids. So even though
has so many cultures they have only taken what they wanted and have even made some up to
compensate for that.
In the short story Lullaby a old woman recollect her past experience with trying to merge two
cultures together. In the midst of the merging she lost her children and her husband. She lost her
husband by death but it was because he had lost his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The bad side of the melting pot is sometimes the culture is not even shown and when the culture is
shown it is now dimmed down to a smaller version of that. Which defeats the whole purpose of the
melting pot when we talk about the melting pot. It is supposed all of the cultures being shown and
the real authentic culture. America had a good intention for the melting pot but it has not turn out
good. With the story Lullaby it was showing two cultures come together but one race that was had
more power than the other overtook the other. The story Lullaby is what I would say is happening
right now with the melting pot. And the story The Handsomest Drowned Man in the World is what
America strives to have with the melting pot. To have new culture arrive and it be celebrated and
also have that culture make an

European Union s Emission Trading Scheme Despite the efficiency of the European Union s emission trading scheme (or EU ETS) with its economic and environmental policy designed to reduce the greenhouse gas and carbon dioxide emissions within the earth s atmosphere, further research have revealed the strengths and weakness that EU ETS experience while determining how much greenhouse gas and carbon dioxidea country can emit. One of the main strengths of EU ETS is its cost effectiveness. Limiting the amount of greenhouse gases and carbon dioxide emitted requires a market based policy instrument such as a trading market (European Commission, 2005) to ensure that the emitted gases are restricted in the most economical way. Canadian economist John Dales (1968) suggests that a market of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The success of its cost effectiveness resulted in a few mistakes that occurred during phase 1 that caused a weak point in the scheme. The EU ETS has been known exist with a typical weakness. On April 16th the European Parliament voted to reject an attempt to bolster Europe s flagship environmental programme, the Emissions Trading System (The economist, 2013), mainly because of the exceeded limit of emission. Carbon has been known to harm the globe, and no wonder there is a price to it. During Phase 1 (2005 2007) of the EU ETS, there had been a massive overcapacity in the carbon market (The economist, 2013). Companies were being allocated allowances based on previous emissions and not being auctioned; while auction remains a more efficient way to allocate emission allowances creating a carbon market. (Mak, 2011). The surplus was 1.5 billion 2 billion tones or about a year s emissions (The economist, 2013). This shows how the newborn phase 1 were victims of the first mistakes made by the EU ETS. Countries such as Germany, France and Poland were furthermore assigned additional allowances thus not respecting the restrictions of the ETS (Mak, 2011), also, not complying with the Harmonisation Law; which aims to create a consistency of laws and regulations in the business so that one country does not obtain an economic advantage as a result of difference rules (Harmonisation of ... • 4. How Did Rock N Roll Influence Pop Culture Rough Draft For music to endure for centuries it has to have, in addition to wondrous sound, but an image of its composer that electrifies for generations. Rock N Roll has it all, yet to understand it deeply we must understand the fathers. Chuck Berry plunged his guitar into his amp and turned the hairs of his audience electric. Elvis Presley, the heartthrob of the south would give Rock N Roll its image for the next decade while America started to find out who it was and what their bleak future had in store for them. Chuck Berry had a distinct sound that gave him an edge in finding his audience. He began using the call and response with his volume pumped up guitar. He would evoke not just image but raw skill where he can make his guitar do the singing for him while he s accompanied by his backing band. Elvis Presley never did write many of his songs. Most were written by his bandmates yet Elvis gave the music its charm and eventually its glorified time. • 5. Application Virtualization For A Virtual Machine Monitor (... 1.Introduction Virtualization is a term used to describe technology that uses abstraction to instruct a guest operating system, data storage, or network device to use underlying shared hardware or software as described by Pearce et al. [1]. Abstraction is managed at a software layer known as a virtual machine monitor (VMM) or hypervisor. The VMM or hypervisor emulates hardware to guest operating systems and applications, which includes core processor unit (CPU), memory, input /output (I/O), and network traffic [1, pp.2]. There are different areas of virtualization, which include server virtualization, application virtualization, network virtualization, storage virtualization, and desktop virtualization [1, pp.8]. The branching out of virtualization into different areas displays the rapid growth of this technology. The VMM and hypervisor software layer provides security challenges that should be addressed in order to protect resources and data within virtualization. For example, this additional layer of technology opens up new paths which an attacker can use to break into and interrupt a system or network. The VMM can also be a single point of failure in a virtualized environment [1, pp. 33]. If the VMM is compromised, then the virtual environment managed by the VMM could be compromised as well. The primary focus of this literature review will be physical hosts, which are VMMs and hypervisors managing a virtualization environment. The Important Ideas section will ... • 8. Electronic Technology For Curriculum Observation Electronic Technology for Curriculum Observation Documentation Michelle Valladares MGMT 7003 December 4, 2014 Many childcare centres in North America have introduced technology as a natural element of the classroom. Young learners have become part of the iGeneration in which the use of technology comes to be a natural way of learning, interacting with others and making sense of the world (Pellerin, 2012). In regards to documentation and assessment, there have been different digital tools that are creating a new way of evaluating and observing how children learn. According to research by Pellerin (2012), assessment for the 21st century learning and teaching requires a shift from assessment of learning toward assessment strategies for learning. In order for teachers to understand assessment strategies for learning they must see documentation under a new digital perspective. Documentation now includes gathering of tangible evidence from a variety of means such as learning stories, photographs, video and audio recordings of the students learning process (ELECT, 2007). Effective documentation will not only gather information but also tell a story and purpose of an event, experience, or development. In a digital era, technology tools and applications like Ipads and Ipods are creating a learning experience for children, teachers and families unlike any other tools in the past. If this principle were to be repealed, the government will decide what is put on the internet and you would have to pay to access some websites or apps, or internet providers might just block access to particular apps. I agree with the fight to defend net neutrality because the internet is an important source of information. If net neutrality were to be repealed, we would have limited access to information. Use the schedule I have attached to the case it is in the same format as we used to examine the U.S. balance of payments. What do the trade and current account balances suggest about the likelihood of a potential devaluation of the peso? Why? a. It suggests that because Mexico is importing twice as much as they are exporting that there is a strong chance that the peso will lose value to counter the constant increase in imports. It is also important to point out that the exports in 1974 and 1975 are practically the same. • 12. The Invention Of The Ipod Essay Assessment 1 Part 1 1.Invention is the process of creating something new meaning or for the first time. When applied to any organisation, it can either be designing a new product, a new service or even a new process. Innovation is the process of creating new value using advance knowledge produced as a result of invention. An example in differentiating between Invention and Innovation is given below. Back in the year 2001, the first iPod was released; it was not actually an inventive product. In fact MP3 players /Walkman were already been around for a few years. The first MP3 Players /Walkman were put on the market in the year 1998. Nevertheless the iPod was the first to be really an innovation. It was the very first to allow a thriving transition of new ideas into tangible societal impact . The combination of elements such as its visual design, its ease of use and the most significant was the iTunes software that allowed the user to manage and purchase music online. With the example mentioned above, MP3 Players/Walkman was the invention and iPod was the innovation. In comparison to invention and innovation, I would consider Innovation to be more important than invention. To serve new markets, innovation creates new products and services which enable an organisation to expand its range of beneficiaries or market base. On the other hand, it may lead to product and service enhancement, such as improved quality or service flexibility. An example that can illustrate this is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Uptake of external particles through endocytosis is required for prolific growth and differentiation. For example, uptake of transferrin provides iron necessary for growth and parasitism of the parasite Plasmodium falciparum [2]. Within the twentieth century, plays began to take a major revolution. Infact, technology advancements enabled a variety of opportunities for plays, such as electric lights, which were safer and provided a vast amount of lighting for the actors, and microphones, which allowed the actors to speak loud enough that the entire audience could hear them. Additionally, the setting of plays became more realistic allowing for the fourth wall to be eliminated, essentially getting rid of the original chorus. Theatres also became enclosed, allowing for the elimination of weather and audible issues. As plays became more realistic, playwrights introduced surrealistic stage settings , where the setting reflected the current conflict or dream, and they introduced the expressionist stage setting , where the costumes or scenery were distorted in order to reflect the current struggle or unbalanced mind. Therefore, since its origin, the program UPP Social was subordinated to the UPPs, meaning that only pacified favelas would receive it (Bentsi Enchill, Goodenough and Berger 2015). Once the Enigma code had been decrypted, the code breakers discovered information about one of the main Nazi attacks on Coventry, codenamed Operation Moonlight Sonata to the Nazis. News of this attack was revealed to Churchill through FW Winterbotham, a British Royal Air Force officer who supervised the distribution of ULTRA intelligence (Winston Churchill). ULTRA was the codename for any vital information obtained from the intercepted Nazi Enigma messages (History). Winterbotham delivered the intelligence to Churchill when Coventry s name was decrypted from Nazi messages on November 14, 1940 at 3:00 PM, the afternoon before the raid (Winston Churchill). The November 14th raid was the most vicious attack Coventry experienced during World War II. Nazi bombers released a deadly amount of dangerous explosives on Coventry. What Is The Mood Of Chapter 9 Of Lord Of The Flies Lord of the Flies Chapter 9 Structural Analysis In his novel Lord of the Flies, William Golding writes an unsettling story about the horrific reality of human nature and the battle one faces between humanity and savagery when civilization is taken away. Set during World War III, a group of boys aged six to twelve years old are stranded on an island with no resources except the ones they can acquire from the island. The boys create a civilization with rules for themselves in order to survive. As the novel progresses, the civilization unravels and the boys humanity lays on a fragile line, bordering on savagery. This causes an unsettling feeling for the reader because the closer Simon s murder gets, the more the boys bloodlust increases. The continuous chant about spilling the beast s blood implies a horribly brutal and bloody death for Simon as the boys cannot recognize the difference between Simon and the Beast in their animal like state, causing the reader to feel unsettled about the future and Simon s fate. The treatment of slaves varied in their personal experiences as well as in the experiences of others they knew, but Harriet Jacobs phenomenally described the dynamics of the relationship between many female slaves and their superiors with these words from her personal narrative, Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl (1861). Before slavery was outlawed it was not uncommon for young female slaves to be sexually abused and exploited by their masters. Although many people know about the cruelty of the sexual assaults that made too many young girls victims of rape in the Antebellum South, most people are unaware of the complexity of the issue and how many different ways these women were abused. The power and authority given to overseers on plantations in the Antebellum South often led to a misuse of power, particularly in regards to enslaved young women. Overseers were slaves chosen by the master to control the fields on bigger plantations to keep the slaves in line and on task. However, sometimes this power led to abuse. He constructs the concept of a double consciousness, wherein a black person has two identities as two completely separate individuals, in order to demonstrate the fallacy of these opinions. J.S. Mill also describes a certain fallacy in his own freedom of thought, a general conception of individuals that allows them to accept something similar to DuBois double consciousness and perpetuates the existence of the veil. As DuBois looks through the veil, he can see a world that he loves, but cannot belong to because it belongs to the whites. The veil perpetuates the concept of alienation from the world to which he knows he will never belong. From the other side, whites look through at blacks, and construct their own opinions of the opposing race, and in doing so, create an opinion that is accepted by blacks themselves. The distortion created by the veil muddles the world of the whites and also the self knowledge within each individual on the black side of the veil. This sort of idea is the same thing that Mill critiques in the early parts of On Liberty. Mill discusses that few think it necessary to take any precautions against their own fallibility, or admit the supposition that any opinion, of which they feel very certain, may be one of the examples of error to which they acknowledge themselves to be liable. (Mill 615). Herein lies the problem of the whites, as over time they have come to accept their own ideas of the blacks in the United States without accepting the possibility of their own fallibility. Mill would argue that dissenting voices need to be heard in order to bring forth the right opinions, but with the veil the DuBois discusses, this is an impossibility.
