The teacher then turns and walks back into the classroom
and sits at her desk, emailing all teachers not to let Mr
Louis out of school at the end of the day and to send him
back to her.
George sits there fidgeting with the hem of his shirt,
waiting for the teacher to say something to him, he
finally speaks up and asks.
GEORGE
Erm, Miss am I allowed to go to
lunch now?
The teachers looks up at him in shook as she forgot he
was still there.
TEACHER
Oh Ryan sorry I forgot you were

GEORGE
Erm sure Miss. W§hat about?
TEACHER

into class with your head down,
don’t say anything to anyone, and
simple just get your work done.
Now don't get me wrong i am happy
your getting your work done, but i
just think it would be beneficial
for you to talk to some other
people in the class and socialise
more.
Ryan sits still fidgeting with the hem of his shirt
purposely avoiding eye contact with the teacher say
nothing back to her statement.
GEORGE
Err, yeah everything’s fine Miss,
I just don't really think the kids
in this class like me, and that
fine I’m fine with having no one
to talk to in here, it means I get
to concentrate on my work more.
The teacher moves her hand to rest on his arm and starts
to stoke it.
TEACHER
George you can talk to me! If the
kids in here are picking on you,
you have to tell me. I can’t help
you unless you tell me that
something is wrong.

Said in a concerned
manor.
She pauses and waits for him to say something back he
doesn’t he stay quiet and stares out the window.
TEACHER

in fount of her face and begins to shout.
GEORGE

AND PRETEND THAT YOU CARE!
Said in an angry

Miss King walks towards her colleague and they both start
to walk back into the school building since Charlotte was
the last student waiting with her.
MISS KING
Their are both such wonderful
polite children, its amazing how
they deal with their mother
situation and still seem so happy.

tired and the bag is becoming too heavy for her.
GEORGE
Come Charlie, only a little bit

about you golden star.
Charlotte face remains neutrals and she carries on
walking look at the floor kicking stones.
GEORGE

GEORGE
Hey mom, how you doing?
George walks up to his mom and kisses her head, but as he
pulls away her hair comes away with his hand, he notices
and tries to hid it from his mom and sister and walks
away into the kitchen.
GEORGE

your plate on your lap.
Charlotte does as her brother says handing the cutlery to
her mother sitting down with her back right against the
couch and her legs sitting straight on the couch because
of her height. George places the plate on top of her legs
and her mother passes her the smallest knife and fork out
of the collected that had been handed to her. George then
gives his mother the other plate in his hand, and leave
the room to fetch his own plate. Once George walks back
into the room and sits next to his sister on the couch
his mother hands him the remainder of the cutlery in her
hand and they all begin to eat their food.
CLAIRE
Wow George this is really good.
She looks at Charlotte and shakes her head and they both
start to giggle.
GEORGE
Thanks mom I’m glad you like it!
A very monotone voice
CLAIRE
So George your sister has told me
all about her day and the fact
that she got a gold star.
She looks at her daughter and smiles making funny face
which makes Charlotte giggle.
CLAIRE
But how was your day, did you get
any homework today?
GEORGE
Ermm, it was okay I guess, nothing
special. And i got a bit of

CHARLOTTE
What’s wrong with mom?
GEORGE
Nothing wrong with mom she’s just
worried that your going to eat so
much and get fat soon.
Her laughs and his sister looks down at the food she's
eating and puts another fork full of food in her mouth.
The phones rings and their mother attempts to stand up,
but George raises his hand telling his mother that he
will get and begins to walk out the room towards where
the phone is ringing.
GEORGE
Hello, Williams house hold.
DOCTOR (OS)
Hello this is the Royal Robinson

GEORGE

DOCTOR (OS)
She was diagnosed with cervical
cancer a few months back, she was
lucky we found it so soon, we have
started her on Chemo pretty soon

survival…
Tears begin to fall down Georges face as the Doctor on
the other end of the phone carries on talking about his
mother therapy.
DOCTOR (OS)
Hello, Mr Williams, are you still
there?
