How to Teach during a Tragegy
There was nothing about leaving the school where I taught in New Orleans on Friday afternoon,
August 27, 2005, that led me to believe I wouldn t see most of my colleagues and students ever
again. Bye, see you Monday! I called out to them. On the drive home, I heard weather reports
about a hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico and thought to myself, It probably won t affect New
Orleans. By Saturday, forecasters said the possibility of the storm making landfall near New
Orleans had increased, but I still wasn t alarmed; my family and I were more concerned about
attending a Saints preseason football game in the Superdome along with thousands of other New
Orleanians that night. The predictions for the hurricane hitting New Orleans became more ominous
on Sunday, causing the mayor of our city to order a mandatory evacuation for all residents. My
family reluctantly evacuated the city as we had done so many times before for other hurricanes,
none of which had been devastating. Much like when I left schoolon Friday, there was nothing
about leaving New Orleans that Sunday that led me to think I would never see my home again.
It became clear by Monday that New Orleans would suffer a near direct hit by a hugely intensified
Hurricane Katrina. Although our city largely withstood the fierce winds and rains brought by the
Category 5 storm, it ultimately fell to the flooding that resulted when an aging levee system
breached, resulting in 80% of the city being underwater, up to 20

natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel electric locomotives. Caterpillar was
founded in 1925, in Peoria, Illinois, which remains the base for much of today s production. Their
ideal environment stemmed from demand created during World War II, when large parts of
Europe and Asia needed rebuilding. This paved the way for healthy growth and profitability right
through to the early 1980s. Caterpillar as a global company from U.S base with 75% of employees

If the forecasted value of the peso in 90 days is sufficiently below the 90 day forward rate, the
MNC may decide not to hedge. Forecasting may enable the firm to make a decision that will
increase its cash flows.
Short term investment decision. Corporations sometimes have a substantial amount of excess cash
available for a short time period. Large deposits can be established in several currencies. The ideal
currency for deposits will (1) exhibit a high interest rate and (2) strengthen in value over the
investment period.
EXAMPLE: Lafayette Co. has excess cash and considers depositing the cash into a British bank
account. If the British pound appreciates against the dollar by the end of the deposit period when
pounds will be withdrawn and exchanged for U.S. dollars, more dollars will be received. Thus, the
firm can use forecasts of the pound s exchange rate when determining whether to invest the short
term cash in a British account or a U.S. account.
Capital budgeting decision. When an MNC s parent assesses whether to invest funds in a foreign
project, the firm takes into account that the project may periodically require the exchange of
currencies. The capital budgeting analysis can be completed only when all estimated cash flows are
measured in the parent s local currency.
EXAMPLE: Evansville Co. wants to determine whether to establish a subsidiary in Thailand.

Essay Witchcraft Portrayed in Films
An ugly and frightening old woman crouches ominously over a big worn cauldron, set over a
crackling red fire. Her skin is wrinkled, cragged and coloured in a strange tone that isn t quite
natural, and her face features a long and crooked nose, adorned with a few erratic warts. She is
wearing a long black robe that has seen better days, and a tall conical hat with a large rim covers
her untidy hair. She concentrates on her cauldron, in which some unwholesome looking liquid is
boiling and sending off coloured fume into the air. In the background, one can glimpse a row of
jars and pots, each filled with exotic and macabre ingredients. Her old broom, made not for

Norman Cohen in Europe s Inner Demons claims that there is no factual basis for any accounts

originated by the church and other authorities as a means of persecuting non orthodox groups.
(Russell, page 114) It stems originally from the period of expansion of Christianity, during the
third century of the Common Era. Christianity, following a monotheistic set of beliefs declared
that any other representations of the Divine were incorrect, and that any other Gods were in fact

Alexander s Steakhouse
The most fabulous restaurant I ve ever eaten at was Alexander s Steakhouse. Alexander s
Steakhouse is the best restaurant because of the short waits, the service is great, and the portions
are enormous. Short waits at restaurants are always a plus when picking out the right spot to pig
out at. Most restaurants you get the little buzzing timer that tells you when your table is ready, but
these don t even exist at Alexander s. When I went to Alexander s we walked right in and got our

waits, but not at Alexander s. Along with your meal you get a salad. There s a salad bar at the front

1950 s Fashion Industry
Fashion is important because it captures your personality. Sometimes the clothes you are wearing
can say more about you than any words can. Advertising fashion has been part of the lives of
people from the 1950 s to 2016. Advertising industry plays an important purpose in our society by
being the main source of information for consumers and products (O Neil). The assorted trends
from the decades create a personality for the people at the time. Societal views on people and

portrayed to look a certain way especially in the 1950 s and 60 s. Even now, society holds high
expectations on how women should look. Society has a way of telling us what to do, and what
we should and should not wear. Social media is a newer factor that is a major part of our life. We

This can be seen in Figure 2, which states The kabuki stage is equipped with various mechanical
contrivances for dramatic effect. One of these is the Seri, a platform that can be raised and
lowered from below the stage to make actors appear and disappear Nowadays, this is motor driven.
Figure 2 was a much earlier depiction of the stage, now it is much more intricate. There are over
fifteen aspects to the stage that make it unique to Kabuki theatre. Each one holds an important
aspect. It is more in depth in Figure 3. Primarily, when starting from the top left and working the
way down comes the mawaributal, which is known as the revolving stage. The mawaributal
used to be operated only using human power and provide for simple scene changes by simply
revolving the center section of the stage. Not only does it allow all of the audience to view the
scene it is also much more appealing then abrupt scene changes. Then comes the Hombutai and
two Daijin bashiras, the Daijin bashiras are two black pillars on both stage left and stage right
and between them like the Hombutai, which is the stage prop. Stage right is the Shimote, which
holds the left side of the audience and stage left is called the Kamite and there sits the right side

Essay On Asian Boyz
Inside of the California streets lies an underworld. This underworld contains gangs that are affiliated
with robberies, deaths, auto theft, and many more crimes. Being the second largest Asian gang and
the twelfth largest gang in America, the Asian Boyz gang was established in the by a man named
Marvin Mercado, nicknamed shy boy. The gangis mostly made up of Cambodians and Vietnamese
men; whose main mission is to protect their own people from being attacked by Mexican gang
members. The members who actively wear their navy blue gang colors on the west coast are

Members say that the two gangs use to be affiliated and were family, but for some unknown
reason, in the 1990 s a group of men split from TRG and formed ABZ. Ever since, they have been
sworn enemies. The Asian Boyz call the Tiny Rascals roaches because they represent nasty
vermin that can be stepped on and the Asian Boyz are called apples because they can be bitten.
These odd nicknames are just another example of the growing hatred between the two gangs.
They are a mere Warner 2 representation of on going war and the animosity between the two
often explodes into extreme violence. Asian Boyz is a gang that has cultures of mostly half
Asian. The Asian Boyz Gang has made Southern California a killing field, as they would say.
What makes them so special is that they will always provide for one another financially and
physically. Most gangs really do not care about one another. They usually just are there to show
their power so they will not get hurt, but ABZ is different. They care for each gang member. One
of the Asian boyz was lost without a home and money and all the members gave him money and
shelter for a few days so he could figure things

Development Of The Vienna Secession
Development of the Vienna Secession
The establishment of the Viennese Secession in 1897 marked the genesis of modern art in Austria
a nation at the time known for its strong holdings on conservative traditions and values. It was the
first movement of artists and designers who were devoted to the renewal of art s meaning the
projection of inner states of emotion. Led by Gustav Klimt, the Secession was the most influential
breakaway; rejecting the revivalist styles endorsed by the conservative academies, the group
promoted an art that would celebrity modernity. The Secession was largely attributed for the
responsibility of the rise to international fame of several of its members, including Gustav Klimt,
Joseph Maria Olbrich, Koloman Moser and Josef Hoffman, who helped Austrian art become
renowned once again. There were no unifying characteristics between paintings or sculptures, or
even architecture: instead, its members were committed to the ideal of modernizing Austrian art by
acquainting it with latest modern art movements Art Nouveau, Post Impressionism and
Expressionism. The initial movement was short lived. By 1905, there were internal divisions
ultimately fracturing the group s monopoly on the scene for contemporary and decorative arts
(Rosenman). However, the Secession was vital for the promotion of Austrian contemporary art.
In 1903, Hoffman and fellow associate Moser and banker Fritz Warndorfer founded the Wiener

Answer:
While computing D/E ratio or D/V and E/V ratio, we always use only long term capital (debt, pref
stock, equity). So D = 400 and E = 1600 in this case and V = sum of both = 2000
Thus, we get Wd = 0.2 and We = 0.8. This will be used in all of the three problems, since its not

Kdat = 7.2 %, Ke = 18%. Hence we get WACC = 15.84%

Technological Advancements Benefit Humanity Change in technology happens rapidly on a daily

achievement that the first 798 put together (Schlesinger 41). Whether it deals with cars, travel,
medicine, media, or a host of other topics, advancements in technologyare occurring all around us.
It is up to us whether to accept these changes or not. Many believe that change in technology is a

Some people say social media technology has caused a lack of social etiquette and personal
interaction. I have discovered that with great technology at our finger tips, it is teaching us how
to think outside the box, helping to reinforce intelligence. I have come to conclude that these
countless technological changes have helped us to evolve as a whole and to better our future.
These changes simplify the way we do many things in society and have also contributed to
making it a safer place to live. Change will happen, it is up to the people of the world to accept
and embrace it. What we have now will only become more advanced in the future.

Mcteague Character Analysis
Reverting Back to a Greedy Animal In the novel McTeague by Frank Norris, the author touches on
various themes throughout the novel. Many of the characters exhibit animalistic qualities,
greediness, and/or both. Characters are often compared to as animals, while others let their greed
overcome them. Some characters McTeagueand Trina also return to a previous place and/or state of
being. Of all the themes noted in McTeague, the animal like qualities, the greed, and the reversionof
the characters are major reoccurring themes that can be found in the selected passage on page 323
of the novel. One of the main significance of the passage on page 323 is the mention of animalist
characters. For example, the main character, McTeague, is depicted as having a strange sixth
senses, that obscure brute instinct that was warning him of something that was about to happen
(Norris 323). A sixth sense is an inborn instinct that most animals have. It acts a warning that
something is about to happen or someone will appear. It is this instinct that causes McTeague
believe someone or something is coming for him and to flee from the mine. Also, McTeague is
often described as a brute, which is another term for a savage animal. The reference to a brute is
seen various times throughout the novel and describes the innate nature of McTeague. Frank Norris
depicts McTeague as a draft horse, immensely strong, stupid, docile, obedient (3). Draft horses
were often used for labor work similar to

African socialism was one of the earliest theories proffered by many African leaders at the outset of
independence. Leaders such as Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Julius Nyerere, Obafemi Awolowo and
Leopold Senghor all supported this concept but had different approaches to it.
In this essay, my focus will be on Julius Nyerere and his approach to the idea of African socialism.

In the area of achieving self reliance by African states particularly Tanzania, Nyerere developed
an educational philosophy which could be approached under two main headings; Education for
Self reliance and Adult education. His interest in Self reliance shares a great deal with Gandhi s
approach to Basic Education . There was a strong concern to counteract the colonialists
assumptions and practices of the dominant, formal means of education, which he saw as
enslaving and oriented towards western interest and norms. It was designed to transmit the values
of the colonizing power and to train individuals for the service of the colonial state. It induced
attitudes of subservience, human inequality and individualism, and emphasized white collar
skills. The context of colonial education was largely alien and the entire system was organized by
racial segregation. For Nyerere who was once a teacher himself, he believed that education had to
work for the common good, foster co operation and promote equality. He asserted that the school
curriculum should go hand in hand with de emphasizing the import of formal examinations which
merely assesses a person s ability to learn facts. He said it was necessary for African states to

The Church Of King Henry VIII And The English Reformation
The churches of the Anglican Communion have their historical roots in the English Reformation
(Anglican History). The Anglican church originated when King Henry VIII split from the Roman
Catholic Church in 1534 when Pope Clement VII refused to grant the king an annulment.
The following overview derives from the New Catholic Encyclopedia. Henry VIII, the second s
son of King Henry VII, was groomed for ruling the Church during his youth, with a broad
education in theology, music, languages, and poetry. His elder brother was being prepared for
the throne, but passed away from a sudden illness. Henry VIII took over as King, and became
engaged to his brother s widow, Catherine of Aragon. Based on the Old Testaments ban on
marrying the widow of your brother, King Henry VIII became concerned his marriage was cursed
by God. He petitioned Pope Clement VII for a papal annulment, but the Pope immediately rejected
the annulment. In 1531, he compelled the English clergy to accept him as head of the church of
England, leading the Parliament to pass a series of laws depriving the Roman Catholic Church of
any authority in England. King Henry VIII received the same legal authority over the English
Church that the Pope operated over the Roman Catholic Church. Following this, Kind Henry VIII
married Anne Boleyn, and split his church from the Roman Catholic Church, forming the original
Anglican Church.
The word Anglican originates from the ecclesia anglicana, a medieval Latin phrase that dates back
to 1246. The Latin phrase means The English Church. The Church of England traces its history
back to the 2nd century, when Christianity first arrived in Britain. The religion of Anglicanism
believes that there is only one God, but there are three elements of the Divine: God the Father,
God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Anglican theology tends to be biblical pastoral and
apologetic, rather than dogmatic of confessional. The valid baptism in the Anglican religion is by
water, in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. People baptized during

South Africa Development Goals For 2015
According to the Country Report in 2013, South Africa has come along way in terms of
achieving the Millennium Development Goals for 2015. When looking at goal one, which has
to do with eradicating extreme poverty and hunger, they have almost completed all of the
targets. As of 2013, South Africa has achieved the proportion of population below $1.00 per day
and the proportion of population below $1.25 per day. They are likely to achieve the proportion
of population below $2.00 per day. They have achieved the poverty gap ratio of $1.00, $1.25,
and $2.00 per day. They are likely to achieve the poverty gap ratio of $2.50 per day. They are
likely to achieve the percentage of employed people living below $1.00 per day. Although they
have achieved and are likely to achieve many of these targets for goal one which has to do with
poverty, they are unlikely to reach the share of the poorest quintile in national consumption, the
percentage growth rate of GDP per person employed, employment to population ratio, and the
percentage of own account and contributing family workers in total employment. In terms of
hunger they are likely to achieve the percent of prevalence of underweight children less than five
years of age. They have also achieved the percentage of people who report experiencing hunger.
Goal two is just as accomplished as goal one. Goal two, according to the Country Report in 2013
for South Africa, which is trying to ensure that boys and girls are going to

The Huntington Disease Essay
This paper discusses one of the most well known neurodegenerative diseases named Huntington s.
Recent statistical records showed that the disease is widely spread around the world. Scientists
have conducted many researches in order to study the mode of inheritance of the disease as well
as to find a possible cure for it. They discovered that the diseaseis genetically inherited from one
generation to another. The aim of this scientific paper is to provide information about this genetic
disorder including its history, genetics, inheritance, mechanism, causes, symptoms, diagnosis,
treatment and some of the current researches being conducted to study the nature of this disorder.

Sir William Osler showed interest in the Huntington disease and was completely astonished with
the Huntington disease paper that he read. With his knowledge and persistence in the medical field,
Osler contributed in spreading the awareness of the disorder throughout the medical community.
Another biologist, Cahrales Dvenport, who had his desire fueled by Jelliffe s research in the
disorder, provided outstanding contributions in exploring the disease. One of them is detecting the
mode of inheritance and the variability, such as the age of onset of the disease. The research
community has further investigated the disorder for decades. In 1983, the Venezuelan collaborative
research project estimated the location of the HD gene using genetic linkage analysis. It was the
first autosomal dominant gene to be discovered using this particular method and found that the
gene is situated at 4p16.3. In 1996, modeling the disease in transgenic mice opened the door to new
experiments. Sine these mice have a high metabolism rate and a short lifespan; the results can be
collected in a fast manner, thus minimizing the time needed for conducting the research. In 1997,

Ancient Greek Horses Essay
Horses in Ancient Greece
When thinking back to the ancient times, the thought of the great chariot races will inevitably
enter a person s mind. Horses were not only used for this spectacular and dangerous event in
early times, but they were used and worshipped as so much more. The Greeks saw horses as a
symbol of speed, competition, and human mastery over nature. They were viewed as an animal
worthy of much respect and necessary tool for the Greeks competitive personalities. Horses were
an integral part of life in ancient Greece. They played an active role in warfare, transportation and in
the games such as the Panathenaic Games in Athens. Athenian enthusiasm for the horse was
expressed in the many civic buildings and temples that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
More likely, the reason men did not fight on horseback under Greek and Roman rule is that
horsemen are not actually that effective against trained, organized foot soldiers. Both the
Greeks, after about 750 BC, and the Romans had trained foot soldiers, but in the medieval period
armies did not have the resources to train foot soldiers, and so the cavalry, which is the horses
and their riders, became more useful. Chariots are often associated with Classical civilization. For
several centuries, they were the primary means of employment for horses and a powerful addition
to several ancient armies. The harnessed Greek horse is much more of a spectacular legacy than
the ridden horse. The art of driving was mastered long before the art of riding. At the equestrian
contests which were held with the athletic games from an early date, there was four horse chariot
racing. Simple horse racing was soon added and then chariot races with a team of mules or a
single mare, both of which varieties were later abandoned, and then with a pair of full grown
stallions and later with younger horses. The horse breeders such as Phainippus, Hipponicus, and
Hippocleides, became famous along with the athletes and often sent out their trained horses great
distances for competition. Chariot racing was one of the most popular sports to watch and was
considered the most dangerous and requiring the most skill and confidence. When the chariots
would round the turning posts at the ends of the

worldwide. This was achieved by the thoughtful consideration by both owners, through the
implementation of several different techniques and managementstyles. In this paper I will describe
the multiple techniques used in making TTI group the successful business it is today. One large
focus of TTI is to continue its aggressive culture. The culture has since day one been to strive to
advance the home goods department of the industry. In recent years, the company has hired
younger aged employees; the older employees were having a hard time adjusting to the style of
work and culture the younger generation bring to the company. As a solution, The Board and senior
management continuously update, develop and improve the internal control system of the Group.

Ivan Boszormenyi Nagy is also a contributor to this therapy (Parrott, III, 2003). This theory is based
on helping maintain a positive family structure and to prevent further emotional damage to the
children or any other person in the family. There are several things that can be done in order for
the help families work through a traumatic experience. When you are counseling a person that has
been subjected to a family prone to alcoholism this child tends to show different ways of

often encouraged when you are trying to repair a family that has gone through a crisis because
this can show them that they can work together as a team to get past the issue. In most other

According to PsychologyCampus.com (2004 2008), family systems therapy is based on the idea

Ernst Fischer, a renowned Austrian artist of the 19th century once said that, In a decaying society,
art, if it is truthful, must also reflect decay. And unless it wants to break faith with its social
function, art must show the world as changeable. And help to change it for the better. Over the
many years since the publishing of Charles Dickenss Oliver Twist in 1838, many have come to
know it as not only art but also as an account of the social and economic problems of the industrial
revolution. Along with his other works, he would eventually inspire others to put an end to child

This passage praises the purity and health of the rural environment and claims outright that even a
lifelong city dweller has in his blood a chance to better himself and society as a whole.
Who can describe the pleasure and delight, the peace of mind and soft tranquility, the sickly boy
felt in the balmy air and among the green hills and rich woods of an inland village! Who can tell
how scenes of peace and quietude sink into the minds of pain worn dwellers in close and noisy
places, and carry their own freshness deep into their jaded hearts! Men who have lived in
crowded, pent up streets, through lives of toil, and who have never wished for change men to
whom custom has indeed been second nature, and who have come almost to love each brick and
stone that formed the narrow boundaries of their daily walks even they, with the hand of death
upon them, have been known to yearn at last for one short glimpse of Nature s face, and, carried
far from the scenes of their old pains and pleasures, have seemed to pass at once into a new state of
being.
Dickens goes on to note that, in the country, even the poor people are neat and clean. The
immorality and starvation that characterize urban poverty are not present in rural England.
Although this maybe a product of wishful thinking and the ideals of a utopian society, it does show
the reader a sense of hope for the future.

Alamo Stereotypes
Texas was fighting the Mexican army for their independence in 1835, which leads to fighting in
the small fort called the Alamo. The Texans had been defeated at the Alamo, on April 23, 1836,
for Texans, the Battle of the Alamo became a symbol of the resistance to oppression and their
struggle for independence, which they won later that year. The 1915 movie The Alamo (The Birth
of Texas) was the first movie to tell us what happened in the Battle of the Alamobut did a bad job in
telling it. There was another filmmade in 2004 also called the Alamo which did a much better job
than the original one in 1915. Both the 1915 and 2004 are good movies but have many scenes and
information factually wrong.
The 1915 movie for the Alamo was full of stereotypes and racism for Mexicans, black people, and
women. The Mexicans in this film were not played by Mexican actors but white men painted in
brown paint also known as brown face. The Mexicans were portrayed as people that are always
drunk and having parties. Which is incorrect Mexicans are proud, hardworking, and respectfully
people and they are villains in this movie. In the movie, they show the Mexicans dancing and
drinking in the middle of the day without a care in the world.
The women in this film are shown to be parting and doing nothing just like the Mexican men in the
movie. They are shown wearing clothes that are not a part of that era of time when the Alamo
happened. The women are also white females that are painted in brown face

Examples Of Money In The Great Gatsby
Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, money often costs too much (Berger). The world seems to
revolve around money, and it often distracts people from the joys of life that bring them fulfillment.
This is shown in almost every main character of The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Although
on the surface the characters of The Great Gatsbyseem to live glamourous and joyous lives due to
the riches they have, when they are examined more closely, it is evident that their money actually
does not provide them prosperity and contentment; therefore, the theme of The Great Gatsby is that
money cannot buy happiness. Multiple examples prove that the theme of The Great Gatsby is that
money cannot buy happiness and these examples are displayed throughout the entire novel. This
theme is shown in Gatsby s chase after Daisy, Daisy and Tom s failure of a marriage, and it is
shown when Nick is attempting to get Gatsby s friends to attend his funeral.
Jay Gatsby seems to have anything and everything he could ever want; money, a beautiful house,
and a good friend, Nick. All of the random people that go to Gatsby s parties, although they do not
know exactly who he is, envy the so called glamorous life that he lives. But, F. Scott... Show more

Summary Of The More Factor By Lawrence Shames
Consumption and the Hunger for More
In the essay The More Factor , Lawrence Shames talks about the extent of America s obsession
with the concept of expansion and having more. People must grow in order to have more and at
first, this was achieved through taking up unexplored lands in the west and developing them. After
all the land had been taken and developed, people turned to the economy and thus there was the
theory of consumerism. John Verdant s the Ables versus the Binges text is a comparison of the two
families; the Ables are cautious in their spending whereas the Binges are impulse buyers. The

They give in to the allure of advertisers without inquiring about other comparable products. They
seem to achieve temporary happiness by constantly purchasing food, cars, trips which in turn leads
them to destroy themselves financially and mentally. Their finances are in shambles with the bills

They are too blinded by their desires.
The Binges feel that is necessary to gloat to their acquaintances about their purchases. This
unfortunately, has impacted relations with those that they associate themselves with (Verdant
156). Verdant states, Their self image is dependent on what they wear, drive, and where they
spend their money (156). They seem to have no regard to money as it is easy for them to make
impulse purchases and not give it a second thought. Their house is a cluttered showcase for new
and old items which they have accumulated over the years. They prefer to buy new items rather

The Last Report On Miracles At The Little No Horse
Family, peer influence, nature versus nurture, religion, and formal schooling all have an impact on
making individuals unique. With so many factors shaping one s identity, it is difficult to determine
which play the most pivotal role in one coming into their own. Most interestingly, identity is a
controlling factor in motivating one s behavior and actions. A common thread in shaping identity
across all cultures is the role of spiritual tradition. Through the characters in The Last Report on
Miracles at the Little No Horse, Louise Erdrich confronts individual and communal responses to
that reality. Since tradition is symbolic, not material, one can not physically hold on to their
tradition. In other words, an individual makes the conscious decision to allow or disallow tradition
to shape their own identity. Pauline Puyat is the product of cultural conflict, which shapes her
twisted, violent nature as a character, and through her Erdrich explores the winning of the west
from a non western perspective.
While some literary figures choose to continue along the lines of their cultural traditions, others find
flaws in traditional practices and decide to rebel against tradition. Marie Kashpaw. Defying tradition
is an interesting theme in literature, as well. Not all traditions should be continued, such as the
succession of abuse in the PUyat amily. Father Jude knows nothing about Ojibwe culture, so he

these were my own personal challenges with the Anatomy course:
Disorganization of course material o Class reading assignments did not match Lecture o Lecture
PowerPoints were not provided despite request from several students. It was usually provided a
couple of days before the test. This shortened the time to study, memorize and focus on the
necessary anatomical structures.
Lack of guidance on how to study the information presented
As recommended during the PA orientation, I read the assigned readings for my courses; however,
for anatomy, this exercise quickly became futile only because it did not contribute to helping to
understand lectures provided in class. With voluminous reading assignments, many times, the

little to help understand lecture material if one is not familiar enough with the anatomical

Capital Punishment Is The Ultimate Punishment
Have you ever thought of the person next to you is a killer or a rapist? If he is, what would you
want from the government if he had killed someone you know? He should receive the capital
punishment. The capital punishment is the ultimate punishment given to the precarious crimes. It
is the last stage of capital punishment. There are different methods of like hanging, electric chair,
lethal injection, firing squad, gas chamber. Murderers and rapist should be given extreme
punishment, and they have to pay for their wrongdoing. We can observe crimerates are accelerating
day by day. The government should enforce such laws to create a high alert around the society and
endorse a secure ruling to its people. But before talking about the essential role of a death penalty,
we have to think about the meaning and purpose of any punishment. According to Muhlhausen,
67% of American favor the death for these convicted of murder, while 28 percent are opposed,
which shows that there are still more people who believe that capital punishment is the best way
to reduce the crime rates. Capital punishment is the best answer to murder and final warning
which all that would be criminals fear. Similarly, it helps to solve the overcrowding problems and
provide closure for victims. Criminals fear death penalty so it can be a final warning so that we can

What Is The Nature Of The Short Happy Life Of Francis...
The coward, the bitch, and the man: Francis Macomber, Margot Macomber, and Robert Wilson are
developed as characters throughout Ernest Hemingway s The Short Happy Life Of Francis
Macomber. While only the tip of the iceberg is shown at the beginning, as Hemingway develops the
story, the reader is taken underwater to be shown the true nature and essence of the three characters.
On the surface, the Macomber s are a wealthy and traditional American couple. However, Francis
lack of courage and initiative has driven his wife, Margot, into the arms of the safari guide, Robert
Wilson. Francis lived a life of ignorance, and in many ways this was his strength as well as his
weakness.
Francis Macomber had, half an hour before, been carried to his tent from the edge of the camp in
triumph on the arms and shoulders of the cook, the personal boys, the skinner and the porters. The
gun bearers had taken no part in the demonstration.
While the people at the camp thought Francis succeeded in killing the lion, he never tells the
truth, Wilson actually killed the lion, furthering his introduction as the coward. His life was filled
with secrets and abuse, and he was ultimately put out of this misery. Francis ability to overcome
his obstacles is the very reason that although his life was short, he lived a blissful life for only a
split second, when he faced the water buffalo.
During Francis first interaction with a lion on the African safari, he bolts away at the first sign
of fear. This reaction, earned him the contempt of his wife, who made it quite obvious that she
disapproved of his actions. The next day, Macomber s wife witnesses him confront a charging
water buffalo. Much to his wife s dismay, Francis courageously faces the animal, proving that he
could overcome his cowardness. Margot realizes that if Francis continues to prove himself willful
and courageous, he might leave her and rid himself forever of her ridicule. This realization leads
her to aim a gun at the water buffalo, instead shooting Francis in the back of the head. By taking
his life, Margot ended Francis misery and her own. The beauty of Francis character is that even
though he spent his entire marriage disappointing his wife, he was only killed

The Most Beautiful Pieces Of Music
How is it possible to create some of the most beautiful pieces of music the world has ever heard
and the creator not be able to hear it himself? The world of music has seen many memorable
composers such as Bach, Mozart, Chopin, and Vivaldi, but none has as amazing a story as Ludwig
Van Beethoven. His life played out like one of his beautiful symphonies, with unimaginable highs,
lows, victories, and defeats, (Viegas 5). Ludwig Van Beethoven
was an 18th century classical
composer famous for his nine symphonies, and is also recognized as one of the cornerstones of
Western civilization through the legacy of his music.
Ludwig Van Beethoven was born in Bonn, Germany. He was the son of Johann, a tenor of the
court of the Elector of Cologne, who also taught violin and piano lessons, and the grandson of
the man he was named after, who was the music director at the court of the Elector of Cologne.
His mother, Maria, was the daughter of a cook and was never truly accepted by Johann s father
as his wife because of her social status. It is believed that Johann s marriage to her defied his
father. There is no record of his date of birth, but there is a record of the day he was baptised
December 17, 1770. In Roman Catholic tradition, a child is baptised the day after their birth, so it
is commonly believed that Beethoven s date of birth is December 16, 1770. He was the oldest of

Leadership Styles With Personal Leadership Style
Leadership
Leadership is a vital part of the business environment because it entails of giving direction to
member in order to accomplish a common goal. Leadership styles are important aspects of an
organization because certain techniques are more effective in different situations. When leadership
is effective, then the outcomes are positive and desired goals are attained. This paper will explore
the different leadership styles with reference to my own personal leadership style. It will give
reasons why a participative style works best in the healthcare profession.
Leadership Styles
There are four types of leadership styles that describe the amount of interaction a leader has to its
members. The leadership styles include autocratic, consultative and participative and free rein
leaders (Lamberton Minor, 2014). Autocratic is a leadership style that has the leader as the
dictator giving direction to members to follow. The group members are expected to follow the
orders without inquiry and focus on task completion. This style leaves little room for individual
development among its members however, can be effective in situations that demands strong
leadership such as in crisis situations. Consultative leadership style involves having the leader
spend a decent amount of time conferring with other members on ways to tackle the situation.
Under this leadership, tasks are delegated to the proper individuals with the right skill set fit for

more of an effective follower. My score was also determined based off of my followership
behavior due to my respective boss. C.Strengths: My effective follower strengths include me
offering my support and encouragement to my boss when things are not going well. Also,
clarifying my role in tasks by making sure I understand my boss s expectations of me and my
performance standards. For example, while at work one day my boss was troubled with a
technical request that required a custodial staff assistant to come in and fix. However, this
situation happen to take place on a weekend where there was no custodial staff in at the time. So
instead, my boss gave me the difficult assignment of troubleshooting this particular technical
problem. The problem dealt with fixing two electrical outlets which had blew out from too much
power being connect to one electric circuit. In this incident my boss suggested that she would
take the lead and help me. However, this was actually a new experience for the both of us, as we
never dealt with this type of technical issue before. While attempting to configure the task at hand
we simply used critical thinking to best equip the problem. I suggested the idea of finding the
circuit breaker box, shutting all circuits off, checking for any bad fuses and then restarting all the
circuit breakers to see if those electrical outlets would work again. During the task I notice after a

Weaknesses: My effective follower weaknesses include me not patiently waiting for my boss to
suggest an alternative plan first. Instead, in this particular assessment I chose to take the
initiative first and did not wait for an alternative plan to assist the problem we were faced with.
This takes away from me being an effective follower, simply because I am rushing to take lead.

Malaria Is A Disease Of The Poor
Would a country free of malaria still be just as poor? Malaria is frequently referred to as a
disease of the poor. Malaria is a disease that kills millions of people in tropical areas where
malaria carrying mosquitoes swarm in the jungle (Friedlander). Malaria is caused by tiny living
things called Protozoans. When an infected mosquito bites a person, the protozoans enter the
person s blood. They live inside red blood cells as parasites. They take everything they need to live
from the cells, which kill the cells (Britannica). Malariais one of the most serious health problems
facing the world today. The World Health Organization estimates that over 300 million new cases
of malaria arise a year, with approximately two to three million deaths resulting from
Life cycle of the human malaria parasite. contraction. (Carrington).
Mainly I chose Malaria as my research topic because I love learning about parasites and their
behavior. Also I chose it because it is a common disease in Sri Lanka, which is where I come from
and also because one of my best friends died from malaria. I want to know why malaria mostly
spread in poor countries such as Africa, India, and Peru. Another reason I chose malaria as my
topic because one day I want to become a doctor and help people live in poor countries.
Before the research I knew malaria is a disease which occurs mostly in poor, tropical and
subtropical areas of the world. I also knew people get malaria by being bitten by an infective
mosquito.

Research Paper On Palm Oil
Research: Palm oil should we use it? By Annabel Pezzutti. Issue Palm oil is one of the world s
most popular edible vegetable oil. Palm oil is used in most goods available at your local
supermarket. This particular oil is affordable but it comes at an immense cost to our environment.
Palm oilhas been connected to many human rights, animal, and environmental violations yet
organisations and companies all over the world persist in using this particular oil in just about
everything, in fact this popular oil is in about half of all products on store shelves. Including
products like soap, snacks, laundry detergent, cosmetics, and even ice cream. Scientific explanation
Palm oil is extracted from the fruit of the oil palmtree, Elaeis guineensis, which prospers in fairly
humid tropical climates. Most Palm oil production occurs in just two countries, Malaysia and
Indonesia, but now is spreading all over the tropics, including Africa. To produce these
plantations, deforestation has to occur and this process results in a loss of biodiversity and a loss
of habitat. The Human act of deforestation affects the water systems too, as rainforests produce
30% of the planet s fresh water. When forestry is demolished water isn t expelled into the
atmosphere and the stability is lost. This leads to a drier climate and soil because there are no trees
to transpire to the ground. why we shouldn t use It Palm oil too is not sustainably sourced and until
there is verification that changes

to the network. It is dynamic, virtualized, scalable and pay per use model over internet. Cloud
computing is a box of several concepts such as virtualization, Service oriented architecture (SOA),
web 2.0 and many more. In some respects, Cloud Computing represents the maturing of these
technologies and is a marketing term to repre sent that maturity and the services they provide

Factors That Affect Resistance Of Organizational Change
1.Introduction Organizational change has been defined as a planned alteration in the normal
patterns or activities within an organization, which is initiated from a position of authority and
intended to improve the organizational effectiveness (Argyris, 1970). Resistance has been defined
as any act designed or implemented to inhibit progress toward organizational change (Coch and
French, 1948). The general view of factors that affect resistance to change developed out of a
need to understand organizational dynamics and improve organizational effectiveness (Coch and
French, 1948). Previous research has identified a wide variety of factors that affect resistance to
change (Gray, 1984). This paper makes an attempt to discuss in detail important and most
commonly reported factors that cause individual s resistance to change. 2.Factors of Resistance to
Organizational Change 1. 1Lack of knowledge and understanding: Miller et al., (1994), Del Val
and Fuentes (2003) and Oreg (2006), one of the most important factors responsible for the
individual resistance to change is lack of understanding regarding purpose, process and consequence
of the organizational change. As a result of lack of knowledge sometimes individuals will oppose
even the changes that in fact promote their self interest. According these studies, in circumstances
when individuals have no sufficient knowledge about the cause and consequence of change they
feel anxious, insecure and stressed as a result they

Noontime Concert Review
Notes from It s Only Love by The Beatles sounded through Norris University Center on

The event s inaugural artists Tommi Zender, a multi instrumentalist, and Phil Angotti, an alternative

people.

Basic Principles Of The Constitutional Law A Police Officer
There are different basic principles of the constitutional law a police officer, but not always a
probation officer must follow when conducting an ethical and legal search of a probationer s
house. All states grant probation and parole officers the power of arrest and search and seizure
as those powers relate to the probationers and parolees under their supervision. They do not have
general powers of arrest and search and seizure over the other people. (Fagin, 2016). When it
comes, the probation officer the can do a warrantless search as the probationer has signed a waiver
for the probation officer to enter their residence at any time as part of their conditions of parole.

Melendez Diaz argued the point that these lab reports were testimonial in nature and that the

conclusions. (Kim Tucci, 2008).

The Mystery Ship
When I read this story it brought to mind all of those Dracula movies that I have seen where they
show a ship coming into harbor with no one alive aboard or a ship full of corpses. The American
ship Mary Celeste was seen sailing erratically by Captain David Morehouse aboard the British brig
Dei Gratia near the Azores Islands in the Atlantic Ocean. The strangest thing was that the ship was
seaworthy and all of its stores and supplies were aboard and untouched but there was not a single
living soul on the vessel.
On November 7, 1872 the Mary Celeste sailed from New York harbor heading for Genoa, Italy.
Aboard the ship were Captain Benjamin S. Briggs, his wife and two year old daughter and a crew

Without 100% deliverables on hand this could create a bullwhip in the supply chain. A bullwhip
effect is point to a lack of synchronization among supply chain members. This happens when
changes in sales ripples backward (e.g. bullwhip) because the supply patterns do not match the
demand patterns causing shortages and delays. The current supply chain used between Riordan
s China location and the local Chinese company is the responsive supply chain process. One of
the features of a responsive supply chain is that companies use a build to order and mass
customization process as a means to meet customer specification requirements. The local
Chinese company is a make to stock operation and future demands for fans are forecasted based
on previous three years sales. They use this method in hopes that previous sales history will
repeat itself without any significant changes. Implementing an agile supply chain process would
be beneficial for Riordan s China plant. Agile supply chain strategy is to be responsible and
flexible to customer needs. They are considered agile because they are responsive to change and
irregularity in demands of customers while reducing risk supply disorder on back end. The agile

The 2014 underwear campaign The Perfect Body launched by Victoria s Secret demonstrates
the comercially marketable idea of a normal body. The knowledge produced about the idea in
this case of the normal body is a standarization female of ideals within modern society. This
image is a representation of the embodiment by society of what an ideal female should look like
and is reflected into this Victoria s Secret advertisement campaign. Drawing on Lock and
Nguyen s (2010) discussion on the natural body this advertisement presents a powerful example
of how an ideal persists as the body is objectified to conform to a societal ideal in social
representations. It also suggests tht the body is a homogenious space , women are classified and
objectified and placed in a category and this is what the perfect body looks like. The advertisement
campaign solidifies that ideal with the slogan The Perfect Body and does not demonstrate a truthful

new area rather than Al krama area to reach to different people in Dubai.
Market penetration in the lower left quadrant, is the safest of the four options. Here you focus on
expanding sales of its existing products for existing market: you know that the product works, and
the market some surprises for you remains (Tony,2000,P239).. With this approach, it is to sell
more of the same in the same market and Raju Omelet can sell more things which are made by

Product development, in the lower right quadrant, is a little more risky, because a new product is
introduced in the existing market (Tony,2000,P241). Here, you sell different products to the same

Abstract
This paper presents a comparison of mechanical properties of 17 4PH stainless steel parts built by
selective laser melting (SLM) additive manufacturing process with the wrought 17 4PH stainless
steel parts. The microstructure is analyzed using optical microscope and the mechanical properties
are evaluated using tensile testing according to ASTM E8 standard. Overall, the SLM fabricated
samples demonstrated superior tensile properties and the microstructure is strongly influenced by
the SLM process. The SLM processed specimens showed higher ductility and ultimate tensile
strength than wrought samples.

The Cell Membrane Transport Lab
INTRODUCTION
In the cell membrane transport lab, there were many experiments that were done such as osmosis,
diffusion in a gel, diffusion in a liquid, diffusion in air, and filtration, A cell membrane transport lab
is done to understand the different ways of transport and why they are all important since it relates
to the human body.
Osmosis occurs when a fluid, that s most likely water, passes through a semipermeable
membrane. The tonicity of the solutions on both sides of the semipermeable membrane
determines the outcome. It s possible to use osmosis to sort blood cells by using a hypotonic
solution to deplete blood cells to distinguish and sort out the differences (Parichehreh et al 2011).
The tonicity of the blood and the cells can determine the health of the body, where your body can
be dehydrated to hydrate enough. Variables in this experiment is the cell when it crenates or
hemolyzes until the solutions on either sides of the semipermeable membrane reaches equilibrium.
If tonicity affects osmosis, then exposing a dialysis membrane full of cytoplasmic solution
(containing glucose, albumin, NaCl, and starch) in an environment solution (deionized water) will
cause the cell to swell and gain weight due to being a hypertonic solution and will result in glucose
and NaCl passing through the semipermeable membrane and leave the cell since the particles of
glucose and NaCl are small, leaving osmosis to occur until the two solutions reaches equilibrium.
In diffusion,

Vladimir Putin, The Most Hated Man Of His Time
Vladimir Putin, who is the president of Russia, the man that is held responsible for tearing
Ukraine apart into a battlefield. The eastern region of Ukraine withheld a city (Crimea), which
became the headlines of all western and global war for its significant role in the Ukrainian Russian
Conflict. This was due to the city that was being fought over by the two countries. As Russias
president, Vladimir Putinwas bashed by the world for being the new modern Hitler; which Hilary
Clinton had compared Putin s strategical methods on this crisis to. She compared it to the
similar Nazi s of 1930; which she had said in her speech at the University of California.
Although, no one can really understand why Vladimir Putin was the most hated man of his
time. Later it became evident that it was because of the propaganda that was created by the
western media and news. We must really think the fundamentals as to why Putin really entered
Crimea, and who really is behind the new regime that has settled in Ukraine as well as which
part of the world is standing behind Ukraine. Former President Viktor Yankovich made a phone
call to Vladimir Putin seeking help. He had called while he was in hiding fleeing to Russia right
after that conversation, around a two years ago shortly after over a 100 people were killed in a 48
hour protest. He fled his own country for his own safety. The fact that he fled as president to a
neighboring countryRussia, shows just what type of situation this man was left

  • 2. How to Teach during a Tragegy There was nothing about leaving the school where I taught in New Orleans on Friday afternoon, August 27, 2005, that led me to believe I wouldn t see most of my colleagues and students ever again. Bye, see you Monday! I called out to them. On the drive home, I heard weather reports about a hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico and thought to myself, It probably won t affect New Orleans. By Saturday, forecasters said the possibility of the storm making landfall near New Orleans had increased, but I still wasn t alarmed; my family and I were more concerned about attending a Saints preseason football game in the Superdome along with thousands of other New Orleanians that night. The predictions for the hurricane hitting New Orleans became more ominous on Sunday, causing the mayor of our city to order a mandatory evacuation for all residents. My family reluctantly evacuated the city as we had done so many times before for other hurricanes, none of which had been devastating. Much like when I left schoolon Friday, there was nothing about leaving New Orleans that Sunday that led me to think I would never see my home again. It became clear by Monday that New Orleans would suffer a near direct hit by a hugely intensified Hurricane Katrina. Although our city largely withstood the fierce winds and rains brought by the Category 5 storm, it ultimately fell to the flooding that resulted when an aging levee system breached, resulting in 80% of the city being underwater, up to 20 ... Forecasting may enable the firm to make a decision that will increase its cash flows. Short term investment decision. Corporations sometimes have a substantial amount of excess cash available for a short time period. Large deposits can be established in several currencies. The ideal currency for deposits will (1) exhibit a high interest rate and (2) strengthen in value over the investment period. EXAMPLE: Lafayette Co. has excess cash and considers depositing the cash into a British bank account. If the British pound appreciates against the dollar by the end of the deposit period when pounds will be withdrawn and exchanged for U.S. dollars, more dollars will be received. Thus, the firm can use forecasts of the pound s exchange rate when determining whether to invest the short term cash in a British account or a U.S. account. Capital budgeting decision. When an MNC s parent assesses whether to invest funds in a foreign project, the firm takes into account that the project may periodically require the exchange of currencies. The capital budgeting analysis can be completed only when all estimated cash flows are measured in the parent s local currency. EXAMPLE: Evansville Co. wants to determine whether to establish a subsidiary in Thailand. Forecasts ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Development Of The Vienna Secession Development of the Vienna Secession The establishment of the Viennese Secession in 1897 marked the genesis of modern art in Austria a nation at the time known for its strong holdings on conservative traditions and values. It was the first movement of artists and designers who were devoted to the renewal of art s meaning the projection of inner states of emotion. Led by Gustav Klimt, the Secession was the most influential breakaway; rejecting the revivalist styles endorsed by the conservative academies, the group promoted an art that would celebrity modernity. The Secession was largely attributed for the responsibility of the rise to international fame of several of its members, including Gustav Klimt, Joseph Maria Olbrich, Koloman Moser and Josef Hoffman, who helped Austrian art become renowned once again. There were no unifying characteristics between paintings or sculptures, or even architecture: instead, its members were committed to the ideal of modernizing Austrian art by acquainting it with latest modern art movements Art Nouveau, Post Impressionism and Expressionism. The initial movement was short lived. By 1905, there were internal divisions ultimately fracturing the group s monopoly on the scene for contemporary and decorative arts (Rosenman). Many of the characters exhibit animalistic qualities, greediness, and/or both. Characters are often compared to as animals, while others let their greed overcome them. Some characters McTeagueand Trina also return to a previous place and/or state of being. Of all the themes noted in McTeague, the animal like qualities, the greed, and the reversionof the characters are major reoccurring themes that can be found in the selected passage on page 323 of the novel. One of the main significance of the passage on page 323 is the mention of animalist characters. For example, the main character, McTeague, is depicted as having a strange sixth senses, that obscure brute instinct that was warning him of something that was about to happen (Norris 323). A sixth sense is an inborn instinct that most animals have. It acts a warning that something is about to happen or someone will appear. It is this instinct that causes McTeague believe someone or something is coming for him and to flee from the mine. Also, McTeague is often described as a brute, which is another term for a savage animal. The reference to a brute is seen various times throughout the novel and describes the innate nature of McTeague. Frank Norris depicts McTeague as a draft horse, immensely strong, stupid, docile, obedient (3). Draft horses were often used for labor work similar to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. The Church Of King Henry VIII And The English Reformation The churches of the Anglican Communion have their historical roots in the English Reformation (Anglican History). The Anglican church originated when King Henry VIII split from the Roman Catholic Church in 1534 when Pope Clement VII refused to grant the king an annulment. The following overview derives from the New Catholic Encyclopedia. Henry VIII, the second s son of King Henry VII, was groomed for ruling the Church during his youth, with a broad education in theology, music, languages, and poetry. His elder brother was being prepared for the throne, but passed away from a sudden illness. Henry VIII took over as King, and became engaged to his brother s widow, Catherine of Aragon. Based on the Old Testaments ban on marrying the widow of your brother, King Henry VIII became concerned his marriage was cursed by God. He petitioned Pope Clement VII for a papal annulment, but the Pope immediately rejected the annulment. In 1531, he compelled the English clergy to accept him as head of the church of England, leading the Parliament to pass a series of laws depriving the Roman Catholic Church of any authority in England. King Henry VIII received the same legal authority over the English Church that the Pope operated over the Roman Catholic Church. Following this, Kind Henry VIII married Anne Boleyn, and split his church from the Roman Catholic Church, forming the original Anglican Church. The word Anglican originates from the ecclesia anglicana, a medieval Latin phrase that dates back to 1246. The Latin phrase means The English Church. The Church of England traces its history back to the 2nd century, when Christianity first arrived in Britain. The religion of Anglicanism believes that there is only one God, but there are three elements of the Divine: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Anglican theology tends to be biblical pastoral and apologetic, rather than dogmatic of confessional. The valid baptism in the Anglican religion is by water, in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. People baptized during infancy are expected to reaffirm their baptismal promise as they get older (Encyclopedia of Religion). Anglicanism is sometimes called the via media, the middle way, ... More likely, the reason men did not fight on horseback under Greek and Roman rule is that horsemen are not actually that effective against trained, organized foot soldiers. Both the Greeks, after about 750 BC, and the Romans had trained foot soldiers, but in the medieval period armies did not have the resources to train foot soldiers, and so the cavalry, which is the horses and their riders, became more useful. Chariots are often associated with Classical civilization. For several centuries, they were the primary means of employment for horses and a powerful addition to several ancient armies. The harnessed Greek horse is much more of a spectacular legacy than the ridden horse. The art of driving was mastered long before the art of riding. At the equestrian contests which were held with the athletic games from an early date, there was four horse chariot racing. Simple horse racing was soon added and then chariot races with a team of mules or a single mare, both of which varieties were later abandoned, and then with a pair of full grown stallions and later with younger horses. The horse breeders such as Phainippus, Hipponicus, and Hippocleides, became famous along with the athletes and often sent out their trained horses great distances for competition. With so many factors shaping one s identity, it is difficult to determine which play the most pivotal role in one coming into their own. Most interestingly, identity is a controlling factor in motivating one s behavior and actions. A common thread in shaping identity across all cultures is the role of spiritual tradition. Through the characters in The Last Report on Miracles at the Little No Horse, Louise Erdrich confronts individual and communal responses to that reality. Since tradition is symbolic, not material, one can not physically hold on to their tradition. In other words, an individual makes the conscious decision to allow or disallow tradition to shape their own identity. Pauline Puyat is the product of cultural conflict, which shapes her twisted, violent nature as a character, and through her Erdrich explores the winning of the west from a non western perspective. • 37. What Is The Nature Of The Short Happy Life Of Francis... The coward, the bitch, and the man: Francis Macomber, Margot Macomber, and Robert Wilson are developed as characters throughout Ernest Hemingway s The Short Happy Life Of Francis Macomber. While only the tip of the iceberg is shown at the beginning, as Hemingway develops the story, the reader is taken underwater to be shown the true nature and essence of the three characters. On the surface, the Macomber s are a wealthy and traditional American couple. However, Francis lack of courage and initiative has driven his wife, Margot, into the arms of the safari guide, Robert Wilson. Francis lived a life of ignorance, and in many ways this was his strength as well as his weakness. Francis Macomber had, half an hour before, been carried to his tent from the edge of the camp in triumph on the arms and shoulders of the cook, the personal boys, the skinner and the porters. The gun bearers had taken no part in the demonstration. While the people at the camp thought Francis succeeded in killing the lion, he never tells the truth, Wilson actually killed the lion, furthering his introduction as the coward. His life was filled with secrets and abuse, and he was ultimately put out of this misery. Francis ability to overcome his obstacles is the very reason that although his life was short, he lived a blissful life for only a split second, when he faced the water buffalo. During Francis first interaction with a lion on the African safari, he bolts away at the first sign of fear. This reaction, earned him the contempt of his wife, who made it quite obvious that she disapproved of his actions. The next day, Macomber s wife witnesses him confront a charging water buffalo. Much to his wife s dismay, Francis courageously faces the animal, proving that he could overcome his cowardness. Margot realizes that if Francis continues to prove himself willful and courageous, he might leave her and rid himself forever of her ridicule. This realization leads her to aim a gun at the water buffalo, instead shooting Francis in the back of the head. By taking his life, Margot ended Francis misery and her own. The beauty of Francis character is that even though he spent his entire marriage disappointing his wife, he was only killed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The world of music has seen many memorable composers such as Bach, Mozart, Chopin, and Vivaldi, but none has as amazing a story as Ludwig Van Beethoven. His life played out like one of his beautiful symphonies, with unimaginable highs, lows, victories, and defeats, (Viegas 5). Ludwig Van Beethoven was an 18th century classical composer famous for his nine symphonies, and is also recognized as one of the cornerstones of Western civilization through the legacy of his music. Ludwig Van Beethoven was born in Bonn, Germany. He was the son of Johann, a tenor of the court of the Elector of Cologne, who also taught violin and piano lessons, and the grandson of the man he was named after, who was the music director at the court of the Elector of Cologne. His mother, Maria, was the daughter of a cook and was never truly accepted by Johann s father as his wife because of her social status. It is believed that Johann s marriage to her defied his father. There is no record of his date of birth, but there is a record of the day he was baptised December 17, 1770. In Roman Catholic tradition, a child is baptised the day after their birth, so it is commonly believed that Beethoven s date of birth is December 16, 1770. Malaria is a disease that kills millions of people in tropical areas where malaria carrying mosquitoes swarm in the jungle (Friedlander). Malaria is caused by tiny living things called Protozoans. When an infected mosquito bites a person, the protozoans enter the person s blood. They live inside red blood cells as parasites. They take everything they need to live from the cells, which kill the cells (Britannica). Malariais one of the most serious health problems facing the world today. Palm oil is used in most goods available at your local supermarket. This particular oil is affordable but it comes at an immense cost to our environment. Palm oilhas been connected to many human rights, animal, and environmental violations yet organisations and companies all over the world persist in using this particular oil in just about everything, in fact this popular oil is in about half of all products on store shelves. Including products like soap, snacks, laundry detergent, cosmetics, and even ice cream. Scientific explanation Palm oil is extracted from the fruit of the oil palmtree, Elaeis guineensis, which prospers in fairly humid tropical climates. Most Palm oil production occurs in just two countries, Malaysia and Indonesia, but now is spreading all over the tropics, including Africa. To produce these plantations, deforestation has to occur and this process results in a loss of biodiversity and a loss of habitat. The Human act of deforestation affects the water systems too, as rainforests produce 30% of the planet s fresh water. When forestry is demolished water isn t expelled into the atmosphere and the stability is lost. This leads to a drier climate and soil because there are no trees to transpire to the ground. why we shouldn t use It Palm oil too is not sustainably sourced and until there is verification that changes ... • 45. Factors That Affect Resistance Of Organizational Change 1.Introduction Organizational change has been defined as a planned alteration in the normal patterns or activities within an organization, which is initiated from a position of authority and intended to improve the organizational effectiveness (Argyris, 1970). Resistance has been defined as any act designed or implemented to inhibit progress toward organizational change (Coch and French, 1948). The general view of factors that affect resistance to change developed out of a need to understand organizational dynamics and improve organizational effectiveness (Coch and French, 1948). Previous research has identified a wide variety of factors that affect resistance to change (Gray, 1984). This paper makes an attempt to discuss in detail important and most commonly reported factors that cause individual s resistance to change. 2.Factors of Resistance to Organizational Change 1. 1Lack of knowledge and understanding: Miller et al., (1994), Del Val and Fuentes (2003) and Oreg (2006), one of the most important factors responsible for the individual resistance to change is lack of understanding regarding purpose, process and consequence of the organizational change. The Cell Membrane Transport Lab INTRODUCTION In the cell membrane transport lab, there were many experiments that were done such as osmosis, diffusion in a gel, diffusion in a liquid, diffusion in air, and filtration, A cell membrane transport lab is done to understand the different ways of transport and why they are all important since it relates to the human body. Osmosis occurs when a fluid, that s most likely water, passes through a semipermeable membrane. The tonicity of the solutions on both sides of the semipermeable membrane determines the outcome. It s possible to use osmosis to sort blood cells by using a hypotonic solution to deplete blood cells to distinguish and sort out the differences (Parichehreh et al 2011). The tonicity of the blood and the cells can determine the health of the body, where your body can be dehydrated to hydrate enough. Variables in this experiment is the cell when it crenates or hemolyzes until the solutions on either sides of the semipermeable membrane reaches equilibrium. If tonicity affects osmosis, then exposing a dialysis membrane full of cytoplasmic solution (containing glucose, albumin, NaCl, and starch) in an environment solution (deionized water) will cause the cell to swell and gain weight due to being a hypertonic solution and will result in glucose and NaCl passing through the semipermeable membrane and leave the cell since the particles of glucose and NaCl are small, leaving osmosis to occur until the two solutions reaches equilibrium.
