Carchi Province is located in northern Ecuador along the inter-Andean corridor. It has a population of 164,524 inhabitants, representing 1.1% of Ecuador's total population. The province has a predominantly mountainous terrain and extends between the Chota Valley to the south and Colombia to the north. Some of Carchi's notable cultural aspects include religious holidays honoring the Lord of Good Hope and Saint Peter, as well as traditional foods like bizcochuelos, paspas, and roasted guinea pig. The province also offers scenic natural attractions such as the Cave of Peace ecological reserve, Arrayanes Forest, Chiles Volcano, and several hot springs, waterfalls, and lakes.
