This document discusses developing Malappuram district in Kerala, India as a carbon neutral district. It analyzes carbon emissions from transportation, energy, waste, and agriculture/land use sectors. Transportation produces the largest emissions. The document estimates total emissions from each sector from 2012-2032 and the carbon sequestration capacity of the district's current vegetation. By 2032, emissions are projected to exceed sequestration by over 75 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalents. Recommendations to achieve carbon neutrality include expanding forests, using public transit, and educating the public.
