1. Capital Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Capital" presents a multifaceted challenge that demands a
comprehensive understanding of various dimensions. First and foremost, delving into the
economic aspects of capital involves navigating through intricate concepts such as financial
capital, human capital, and social capital. This necessitates a solid grasp of economic theories,
market dynamics, and the intricate interplay of supply and demand.
Moving beyond economics, an adept essay would also explore the sociological dimensions of
capital, analyzing how it shapes power structures, societal relationships, and individual
opportunities. This requires a nuanced understanding of sociological theories, historical contexts,
and the evolving nature of social capital in contemporary society.
Additionally, the philosophical underpinnings of capital merit attention. Addressing questions of
ethics, morality, and the equitable distribution of resources adds a layer of complexity to the
essay. Engaging with various philosophical perspectives, such as utilitarianism, libertarianism,
and social justice theories, demands critical thinking and analytical prowess.
Furthermore, a well-rounded exploration of capital necessitates a keen awareness of political
ideologies and their impact on economic policies. Examining how different political systems
influence the accumulation and distribution of capital requires a deep dive into political theory,
governance structures, and policy frameworks.
The task is not merely academic; it also demands a high level of coherence in articulating
thoughts, structuring arguments, and presenting evidence. The writer must seamlessly weave
together diverse ideas while maintaining clarity and persuasiveness throughout the essay.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the expansive topic of "Capital" demands a synthesis of
economic, sociological, philosophical, and political knowledge. It challenges the writer to
navigate through a labyrinth of ideas, theories, and real-world implications. Successfully
accomplishing this task requires not only a breadth of knowledge but also the ability to integrate
and analyze information critically. It is an intricate intellectual endeavor that demands time,
dedication, and a commitment to producing a well-crafted piece of scholarly work.

2. Taxable Income And International Transfer Pricing Essay
Taxable Income and International Transfer Pricing Business organizations
increasingly look to globalization to increase profitability and maintain
competitiveness. Income from such operations is taxed differently in the United
States (US) dependent upon type of income and the levels of said income. Such
foreign corporations that are controlled by US shareholders are considered controlled
foreign corporations (CFC) which must comply with taxrules instituted in 1962
(Doupnik Perera, 2014). Wholly owned subsidiaries of US companies such as
Bahamamama, Ltd, the subsidiaryof Mama Corporation, are considered a CFC, and
as such companies such as Mama Corporation must determine income taxed by the
US. Additionally, global organizations seek to reduce tax liabilities through transfer
pricing. Transfer pricing is used to determine the price of transactions between
subsidiaries and parent companies and is used to reduce tax liabilities of US parent
companies. As such, tax authorities intervene to ensure US corporations report
correct tax liabilities.
Mama Corporation Subsidiary Bahamamama, Ltd. Mama Corporation s subsidiary
Bahamamama, Ltd, is a wholly owned subsidiary. As a wholly owned subsidiary,
Bahamamama, Ltd is considered a CFC and as such must determine income taxable
to the parent company. The income taxable is subpart F income, which is income that
can be easily moved between tax jursidictions (Doupnik Perera, 2014). Such income
includes sales to customers
3. Density Lab
1. Objective: My objective for this experiment is to find the mass, volume, and
density of a variety of objects. After this, I will record my data and place a select
few of the items on a graph. My hypothesis for this experiment is, If I measure the
mass of every object, the wooden ball will have the least because it seems to be the
smallest and most lightweight.
2. Equipment: 3 rubber stoppers, 5 rocks, wooden ball, wooden cube, 4 density cubes,
triple beam balance, graduated cylinder, pipette, and beaker.
3. Procedure:
1. Create a 4 by 15 graph.
2. Place the object of your choosing on the triple beam balance s plate.
3. Use the weights to get the other side of the scale on zero to get the mass.
4. Next, place the object in a graduated cylinder filled with ... Show more content on

Record all of your data in the graph.
4. Data: The rocks usually had a mass between six and seventeen, and a volume of
three through seven. Two of the stopper s volumes was one digit less than the mass.
The wooden objects had a low mass and volume, which allowed them to float. The
density cubes were always high in both mass and volume.
*Data table will be turned in on paper*
V= L x W x H D=m/v
5. Analysis: During the experiment, our triple beam balance would not rest on the
zero on its own. We would find the mass for some objects, and to check it, we
would measure it again and get a different mass. This most likely caused some of
the masses measured to be incorrect. Another problem we faced was the wooden
ball. Since it floated in the water, we had to push it under the water with the tip of a
pencil. This might have impacted the volume.
6. Conclusion: The wooden cube has the smallest mass out of the objects used.
Unsurprisingly, the wooden ball had the next to smallest. The object with the highest
mass was the brass. The object with the smallest volume was the wooden cube as
well.

4. The Laramie Project Personal Response
Life is an amazing, wonderful, beautiful adventure that we are blessed with every
day. But, we are greeted many times throughout those days with choices we have to
make. Most of those choices we make are built by the structure and beliefs that our
parents and loved ones have passed onto us. Looking into how we were brought up
can we really say what s right or wrong? Can we positively determine that everyone
thinks the same? While watching The LaramieProject you see and hear two hundred
different opinions towards the Matthew Shepards case. Two hundred ... that s two
hundred people from Laramie, friends of the victim and attackers, and loved ones
fighting for what they believe is right. This case not only caught the whole town s
attention but was recognized on a national level. Labeled as a hate crime you learn
so much more about the people s identity like Matthew Shepard as a homosexual, the
tragedy of a man/son/friend that struck a town, and how people see Laramie,
Wyomingas their home built by a community. Everyone identifies in their own way

He taught a town that opinions are sacred to the eye of the beholder and a town
can come together to spread a single message. Throughout watching The Laramie
Project you hear how people identify among others, how tragedy shook a town, and
how their sense of home was constructed by a community. How a flip of a coin can
determine the rest of a person s life. If the two individuals would of stopped and
thought of the right and wrong decisions to make maybe they would be at home
right now with their families and children enjoying the night. Maybe a man would
have been changing the world one smile at a time. Now the world will never know

7. The Aspects of Hazing
The word hazing connotes a variety of different meanings depending on the stance
one takes. Some people assume hazing provides the possible prospect of bonding
and social acceptance. Others conclude hazing creates a dividend between the
society of fraternity and sorority organizations. No matter what direction one takes,
both sides have the ability to propose a positive solution that will effectively help
the effects of hazing. Once a personal analyzes the positive and negative aspects of
hazing then he or she has the ability to propose a solution that will benefit both sides
of hazing. The word hazing originates from a time during the 16th century when
sailors would taunt new sailors during hazy weather. Hazing made its appearance long

In claiming that another resultant of hazing prepares pledges for impending
emotional, mental, and physical pain that will appear during their adulthood, they
persuade others to view hazing as they do. When pledges complete their hazing it
brings forth unity amongst the brothers and sisters. Not only do they see hazing as
a means of bringing people together, but also for weed[ing] out people who don t
want to take the process seriously ( Arguments For and Against ). No social group
wants to have a member who does not commit his or herself to the fraternity or
sorority. So higher status members feel the task of deciding who takes fraternity
and sorority matters seriously bears on their shoulder alone. Pro hazing individuals
believe hazing sets up a positive system of the deciding factor of who stays and
goes. Overall they believe that hazing benefits either the new pledge or the fraternity
and sorority system as a whole. The stance that anti hazing individuals most likely
take come with the statistics that hazing results in student death and possible sexual
harassment. Individuals who also oppose the hazing ritual shall take the stance of
saying it pressures students to make senselessly foolish decisions. Hazing causes a
loss of self preservation. Hazing entices them to forget about his or her own self and
individuality and to trade his or her humanity or self respect in exchange for full

8. Principal Agent Relationship Essay
Within a federal republic, such as the United States, we tend to rely on
representatives to represent us as a nation rather than us representing the nation. This
is due to people s capacity of knowledge as not everyone can be the best of
themselves in every area. Eventually, leading to representatives, who have the
knowledge in politics and government, in representing the people of every state. This
type of situation is when the people, who are the principals, gives authority to the
representative, who are the agents, to represent them. By definition, the principals are
those who possess authority and agents are individuals who execute the authority on
behalf of the principals (Kernell 29). Although this is common, not many individuals
are aware that they are entering a principal and agentrelationship. In the United...

Though it is not necessary for it to just involve politics, it can relate to legal
matters, personal matters, or work related relationships. One example of a
principal and agent relationship is a lawyer and its client. In this relationship, the
principal is the client and the agent is the lawyer. This is a principal and agent
relationship because the client is delegating its authority to the lawyer. The lawyer
ends up being the agent who has received authority from the principal to handle the
issue that the principal is requesting. The client gives authority to the lawyer
because the client does not have the necessary knowledge to handle a matter that
requires additional knowledge. The lawyer will be the representative of the client
who has no background in legal cases. It will allow the client a higher chance of
winning the case or having a better perspective on the matters that they are
concerned about. Since the relationship involves a lawyer and client, this example
will revolve around the law and legal issues, such as divorce, personal injury claim,
or financial
10. Hepatitis Research Paper
Hepatitis
Hepatitis is defined as an irritation of the liver and is an infectious disease that is
caused by viruses, alcohol and medications that attacks the liver. When the virus gets
into the liver, the liver becomes inflamed. The body s immune system tries to fight
off the virus with lymphocytes and in the end the liver is destroyed more. Fibrosis
occurs because of the scarring of the liver. When the scarring gets so bad the blood
flow slows down and causes cirrhosis of the liver. Blood begins to back up and leak
into organs in the body. The function of the liver is to manufacture proteins and to
regulate transportation of fat stored and to control production and excretion of
cholesterol. There are six types of Hepatitis A, B, C, D, ... Show more content on

If you get infected with HCV you can never get rid of it. HCV is transmitted
through blood to blood contact, such as injection drug users, people who received
clotting factors before 1987, health care workers, infants born to infected mothers,
people who have sex with an infected person or have multiple sex partners, people
with HIV infection, prisoners or previously incarcerated persons, people that have
used intranasal drugs, tattoos or piercings with needles that were not disinfected
properly after the use on another person, received an organ transplant from a donor
who had HCV, and people who received a transfusion of blood or blood products
before 1992. HCV is not spread through breast milk, water, or food or by contact
such as kissing, hugging, sharing food or drinking after a person that is infected
HCV. There are two steps that are done to be diagnosed with HCV infection. The
first step is screening or the anti HCV antibodies with a serological test that
identifies people who are infected with the virus. The second test is positive
results for anti HCV antibodies, and a nucleic acid test for HCV RNA. About 75%
of HCV cases, the treatment is ineffective and has this disease for life. After being
diagnosed with chronic HCV infection, you will need to have an assessment done
of the liver to determine the amount of damage done to the liver such as fibrosis
and cirrhosis. Testing is done by a liver biopsy or through several non invasive
tests. About 20% 30% of the people diagnosed with HCV will develop liver failure
and die. More than 10 thousand people die from being infected with HCV per year.
It takes approximately 7 weeks for a person to show signs and symptoms of HCV.
People who are recently infected with HCV do not have any symptoms. Some of the
following symptoms that may occur with HCV include pain in the right upper
abdomen, fever, fatigue, dark urine, clay colored or pale
11. Savage Reservation In Brave New World
Both Brave New World and The Dispossessed have different takes on utopia, a
place or state of ideal perfection and excellence. However, the savage reservation
in Brave New World has a lack of government, which allows for the people there to
freely decide how they would wish to live, unlike the World State or Anarres in The
Dispossessed. The World State and Anarres have controlling governments that
monitors all ideas to decide if they are considered dangerous to the society and
regulates the opinions of the people. The savage reservation in Aldous Huxleys Brave
New Worldis more utopian than both the modern World State and Ursula Le Guin s
communist planet of Anarres from The Dispossessed because it maximizes freedom
while minimizing the power... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People at the savage reservation are less controlled because their culture and society
is less structured due to its small size. The general leader has less to worry about
when leading a small group rather than a large population in terms of riots, wars, and
revolutions, therefore major control is unnecessary. In the World State however, the
population is immense because of their method of creating babies in test tubes. To
sustain peace, happiness, and the feeling of utopia, the government uses its control to
give everyone in the same class the same opinion. This is done through
conditioning, which includes forcing babies to associate electric shocks to certain
items and hypnopædia. In the beginning of the book, the Director says The child s
mind is these suggestions, and the sum of the suggestions is the child s mind... but
all these suggestions are our suggestions! (Huxley 29) when describing why
hypnopædia is used on the children as they grow up. This quote shows how the
government s opinions are forced into the entire population s head as they grow up
and that they are proud to be controlling their minds. This method may prevent
wars over different beliefs and make everyone satisfied that they are in their
assigned social class, but it also takes away individuality and freedom. Anarres is
also heavily populated, so the Odonians are taught to believe that the people on
Urras are corrupt and evil to keep them from wanting to leave Anarres or make
contact with Urras. The extent of this belief is seen when Shevek explains why he
might not return from Urras by stating, Anybody outside Defense could make
explosives with blasting powder and blow up the ship on the ground. Or, more
likely, attack me once I was outside the ship. (Le Guin 378). The people of Anarres
think that Urras is so malicious that a fellow Odonian would not be
12. Difference Between A Leader And A Boss
The hardest element while being an entrepreneur is leading a team. Take special
notice of what was said there; lead and team. As one goes about life trying to climb
the ladder within a workplace, he/she will often lose sight of what is genuinely
important: attitude and servitude. One will become so caught up in the success that
he/she will become a bossfigure; except when this happens, the person is not
successful. This alters one s future and relationships, not only in the workplace but
also in the home life, in essence affecting the community as a whole. Leaders and
bosses run communities, but there is a definite difference between the two styles. In
today s society, a boss must work to become a great leader.
So the question is, what is the difference between a leader and a boss? The answer
is easy; it s the way they think. If one searched Leader vs. Boss on the internet, the
person would probably find the quote Bosses push while leaders pull by Dave
Ramsey. What that means is that a boss will tell a team what to do while a leader
will do it with them. This is because he/she will participate in the workload and take
the fall for them if something goes wrong. Andy Stanley s tells in his podcast that
someone should always try to never over complicate situations. He says, One must
aspire to be the dumbest person in the room . This will push the person to surround
himself/herself with smarter people; this will help the person grow because one can
never be finished.
13. Delegation In Delegation
Delegation is very important to utilize when a manager is trying to accomplish a task
when they cannot do it themselves. Delegation is mostly used to give someone with
authority to assign designated task to another person. However, the person that is
delegating the task still assumes responsibility to make sure that the task gets
completed. For example, when the manager delegates a task to you, he or she is
likely still responsible for making sure that task is accomplished. With delegating, an
attempt is being made to have meaningful participation and cooperation from the staff
for achieving the required goal. When delegating responsibilities of the manager are
reduced. As a result, he or she concentrates on more urgent and important matters....

I believe that managers should put in valued effort to get some of that empowerment
feeling into their staff, where staff will see things with managerial eyes, sometimes
managers can over delegate to their staff. I believe that delegation is given in either
or depending on the task and staff. To delegate means to choose or elect a person to
act as a representative for another. To empower someone means to give power or
authority to someone else (Gordon Barry 2009). To delegate something to someone
is to only give them enough leash to act on your behalf as you would for yourself
(Gordon Barry 2009). To empower another means you give them enough power and
authority to act on their own behalf. In both delegations and empowerment the
manager is giving the staff the authority to perform a task. Empowering delegation
can improve decision making. It can be used to improve the quality decision making
by bringing to allow more information, closer to the source of the problem, than the
manager has alone. A staff member can be a source of information waiting to share
with their manager. Delegating task to those that have direct access to relevant
information can enhance efficiency as well as
14. Porphyria s Lover
Porphyria s Lover: Love, Sex, and Sin While it is easy to say that this poem is
simply a frightening and perverse account of a man who cannot properly express
his feelings for a woman, it is much more complex. Two major motifs in the poem,
love and sin, create a sense of contradiction. Browning uses this contradiction to
explore the relationship between art and morality. The title of the poem leads the
reader to believe that the speaker and the woman have been in a relationship for
some time. It evokes the image of a woman secretly visiting her lover. Then, the
speaker tells the reader that Porphyria glides into his house and kneel d and make
the cheerless grate/Blaze up, and all the cottage warm (6 9). Only someone who had
visited... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is the reader s first indication that the woman s virtue is stained. After she
starts the fire and makes herself comfortable, she makes her smooth while shoulder
bare (17). White is generally thought of as the color of purity and Browning draws
attention to this detail to illustrate the contrast of the woman s supposed sin of
having a lover and going to his home. While the reader s inclination is to ascribe
the sin of scandalous sex to the woman, Browning assigns her a different sin: that
of pride. The poem says, she/Too weak, for all her heart s endeavour/to set its
struggling passion free/From pride (22 24). The speaker does not consider her
presence there to be a sin; her offence is her pride, leading her to a reluctance to be
with him for ever (25). To really drive home the point that the woman s sin is really
that of pride, the speaker says, That moment she was mine, mine, fair/Perfectly pure
and good (36 37). Once he realizes that she worships him, he decides that she is no
longer dedicated to the sin of pride and she becomes pure and good in his eyes.
Browning touches on the idea of repressed female sexuality many times throughout
the poem. This leads the reader to consider the relationship between art and morality.
Browning puts forth this question: how can society condemn admiring the female
body as beautiful to be immoral while never questioning the honor and virtue in the
15. Informal Australian Lexicon
The informal Australian lexicon is utilised in everyday casual conversations and is
thus recognisable as a distinct, Australian characteristic. Slang has become
familiarised in the lexicon due to its frequent use in informal communication at an
occurrence where lexemes are recognisable to be unequivocally Australian. This
further strengthens the interweaving of languageand identity. One of the most
recognisable lexemes is the slang term Aussies , the shortened form of Australians ,
which [is] now so widely known that even the Americans will refer to Australian
sportspeople as [such], (Professor Roly Sussex). Whilst the greeting G day, mate has
become the most popular phrase of the archetypal Australian, it transcends its simple
denotation... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A big part of the laid back perception of Australians is due to their extensive
application of colloquial terminology, commonly shortenings of original,
commonplace lexemes known as diminutives. Most diminutives in Australia are
created by the shortening of a name or a noun and usually adding a bound suffix of
a, o, ie or y. Nearly one half of Australian diminutives share an ee sound as the last
syllable, which is common in other English variants and languages to express
endearment, intimacy or informality between speakers. Such examples are the
popular barbie , bicky/bickie , and ambo . Notable diminutives are the shortening of
the organisation The Salvation Army into salvo s and McDonald s into macca s .
These slangs have become widespread enough throughout the country that the
organisations themselves have adopted their colloquial names for advertisement. This
displays the how deep the use of diminutives are within Australia, where it has
established itself as an everyday part of communication and lifestyle, becoming
normalized. The popularisation of the evident standard formula in which Australian
slangs are invented has assisted to the relaxed imagery of the public of the country,
creating a standard of the people and the
16. Analysing Theories Of Loss And Grief In Social Work
Practice
Analyse theories of loss and grief in respect of their relevance for social work practice
Both grief and loss are an inevitable part of human existence and are at the heart of
life and growth (Walter and McCoyd, 2009). Some losses are painful and
consequently trigger grief, however some losses are natural and a part of
development, such as maturation, and usually seen as progression but can also
present as a loss. An element of social work is to assist service users in their growth,
for example from childhood into adolescence, and offer support through difficult
losses. Loss can occur within a wide spectrum of experiences; such as death and
bereavement; loss of identity for example losing something defining, for instance
faith or religion; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

17. New Health Promoting Vending Machines
One can rarely pick up a newspaper or magazine without reading about the obesity
epidemic. With this rapid rise of obesity throughout our country, many people are
growing increasingly concerned about the types of food that we are consuming.
Specifically, the availability of vending machines has been under great scrutiny for
the past several years. Many believe that the rise in obesity, is in part, linked to the
easy access to junk foods prevalent in most vending machines. If vending machines
had other healthier options then people would not have to make such poor nutritional
choices. New methods have already been put in place to help create healthier food
environments in schools, but so far other institutions like pediatric hospitals have yet
to be reformed. Most people would assume that a hospital would offer the best
nutritional services for their patients. Sadly, this is not the case. Most pediatric
hospitals provide poor nutritional environments, especially when it comes to vending
machines.
I.PURPOSE
New Health Promoting Vending Machines (HPVMs) were developed by the health
promotion centre of a university affiliated pediatric hospital (Van Hulst, Barnett,
Dery, Cote, Colin, 2013). Initially 95% of snacks and 75% of drinks existing in the
vending machines at the hospital did not meet the dietary recommendations. As a
result, it was determined that new healthier vending machines should be made
available to consumers. (Van Hulst et al., 2013). This study was designed
18. Us Involvement In Ww2 Essay
World War two was an international war fought against by the central powers,
Germany, Austria Hungary, the Ottoman Empire, and Belgium, and the Allies,
France, Britain, China, and eventually the Soviet Union and the United States. The
question is, what started the war? Why did the U.S get involved? And finally, what
eventually brought the war to a close? World War II officially began on September
1, 1939 with the German invasion of Poland. With the leading of Hitler and the Nazi
party, troops of more than 2,000 German tanks and 1,000 planes were sent into
Poland from the North, while Silesia and Slovakia came in from the South with
Prussia in the East to take down Polish defences. Two days later, on September 3,
both Britain and France had declared war on Germany. The Soviet Union invaded
Eastern Poland September 17, and by September 27, Poland had surrendered. This

The German forces were strong, and well on their way to European, and eventually
world, domination. A significant date that put a stop to the takeover of the
German troops, was June 6, 1944, also known as D Day . This was the event in
which the Allied Forces landed in Normandy, in attempt to take down the German
forces through France. With the help of the Soviet Union through Russia,
American troops were able to push through and put an end to German power,
ending the war in Europe on May 7th, 1945. However, one problem still remained;
Japan. Sick and tired of war and ready to bring his boys home, Harry Truman, who
had become president April 12, 1945, was faced with a decision called the
Manhattan Project, a top secret project started by Roosevelt to create two destructive
atomic bombs. On August 6, 1945 the first bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, Japan.
Though that wasn t enough to get the Japanese to surrender, the second bomb
dropped on Nagasaki on August 9th was enough to put an end to the war once and for

Second daily activity, start up a low impact exercise routine to obtain pre pregnancy
weight. This will help both mentally and physically once you are closer to your pre
pregnancy weight. The lack of physical activity contributes to excess weight gain
during pregnancy and weight retention during postpartum. Many gyms have child
care, and as your child ages this will help him or her fine tune attachment social skills
early.
Third daily activity, have some human interaction and talk about your feelings. Set
time aside each day to talk with your partner, so that you both can reconnect. Find
a support group, there are many women experiencing the same thing right now.
Listening to someone else s version of postpartum depression and sharing your
own can work wonders. Seek out a meeting in your area and give it a try. You may
just meet that mommy friend you need. One on one therapy can also help you
discover where the depression is coming from, and how to take steps each week to
heal. Try looking for a therapist who has worked with other postpartum moms, and
maybe even a therapist who has kids

The media helps to construct national identity and loyal national subjects. Discuss.
Introduction
In the twenty first century, the media has been transformed into a highly influential
tool and segmented to aspects such as print, broadcast, film, outdoor and internet etc.
The relationship between the media and construction of national identity is apparent
with distinctive representation of nationalism in news coverage of politics,
celebrations, tourism and country heritage (Leong, 2001).
National identity is the transmission of each generation s legacy to the next and the
enabling of the nation citizen to take pride and identification of the country (Stephan,
2009). A nation positive unique identity breeds patriotism which consequently...

As such the Singapore flag, pledge and anthem together with the National Day visual
display of patriotism and flags on the building are promoted daily in schools and
annually on 9th of August with much elaboration and significance.
Therefore, it can be seen that media in Singapore are essential tools to promote
national identity while supporting the ruling party political regime. Singapore then
Prime Minister proposed that the press should support national goals and he states
that: we want mass media to reinforce, not undermine, the cultural values and social
attitudes being inculcated in out school and universities (Lee, 1971). For that reason,
most of Singapore media today is under control of the government or government
linked corporations and are the principal instrument in creating social and political
stability as well as advocating government policies and instilling nationalism (Leong,
2001).
Also, the government uses Roger Protection Motivation theory (Severin Tankard
1992, p.159) by arousing fear to help influence the cognition, attitude and behaviors
intention through the severity, probability and efficacy of an event (Rogers, 1983).
Fear appeal like self censorship; out of bound markers and hefty defamation suit are
used extensively to control the media and prevent dissenting criticism or anything
that will deconstruct the nation identity and subject loyalty.
As such, lesser negativity on the nation will
22. Standing Up For What It Means To Be Yourself
Never be bullied into silence. Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Accept no
one s definition of your life; define it yourself. Robert Frost. I believe that being
different and unique lets a person be themselves and lead a happy more fulfilled life.
If you truly enjoy something, follow that passion if someone tells you it is lame.
Individuals that follow beliefs or desires go on to making world changing
movements. For instance, same sex marriage in some parts of the country are illegal
due to discrimination and religion. Many people in the world are bisexual and
would love to marry their loved one. In my opinion, standing up for what you
believe in is very important in this world because if you do not like something you

There is many cases in the world where people decide to stay quiet or pretend like
something did not happen just because they do not want to be part of the process.
Most of the time when people stay quiet it affects everybody else. Let s say that
there were to be a undecided decision on whether the teacher should buy her
students pizza or chips. And, every student voted for pizza, but about half of the
class wanted chips instead. That can affect what the teacher buys the students
because what if not everyone wanted the same thing that is why everyone should
stand up for what they want and not stay quiet. My parents are always voting when
our city has to vote for a new mayor or our district attorneys, and I always ask them
why they vote every time. They tell me they vote because they believe that one
vote can make a difference. They do not want someone that is not that good of a
person to be in charge of the city or town. Everyone has the right to stand up for
what they believe in, and more people should start to realize that. This world would
be a better place and there would not be many fights between

Safe Disposal of Insulation Material
There have been various types of Insulating materials used within the electrical power
industry since the beginning of electrical power. And over the years scientist and
environmentalist have discovered that most if not all insulating materials are
harmful to the human body or the environment in one way or another, being shot
term or long term exposures. First of all, the term insulating material refers to a
substance that has the ability to resist electrical energy flow to make a conductor or
copper wire safe to touch by human hands for instance. But all these insulating
materials will break down at a certain limit if the power is strong enough, so this tells
us that there is no such thing as a perfect insulator. This example explained above is
one use for an insulating material within the electrical power industry. Insulators
serve many advanced purposes and conditions. Be it Arc suppression within circuit
breakers or voltage insulation on power lines, or even protective equipment worn by
electrical workers. A majority of these insulating materials have been known to cause
health hazards to humans and environmental hazards to the environment which will
be discussed in a bit more detail further on, and

The new Manifest Destiny, essentially U.S expansionist fever, leads to our
participation against the Spanish empire with rebels on both sides. The Spanish
American War made the US an international power with our footholds in the Pacific
and Atlantic Ocean. Also, our annexation of Cuba will lead to multiple opportunities
in the future. This 3 month long war was diminutive and swift but showed how the
US were unprepared, obviously by their landing at Daiquiri. What followed were
naval attacks in the Philippines, which the US had occupied and later taken over. We
maintained a streak of victories in both Cubaand the Philippines. The events that
transpired in these areas will most likely continue to shape our future along with
Cuba s and the Philippine s.
25. The Consumption Of Narcotics Nor Marijuana
Let me start out by saying that while I do not partake in the consumption of
narcotics nor marijuana I have been almost addicted to its research for years.
Growing up with a family completely against marijuana in a time when it needed to
be so widely made aware of was difficult to say the least. When I was a child I was
sick and stuck on prescription pills to aid in my ailments. Now as an adult I have
chosen to not take what I do not believe my body to need. I will usually not even
take Tylenol for headaches. I have toughed illnesses and injuries out in such natural
ways and felt a million times better after rather than after drugging myself up. Painis a
whole other story, I absolutely despise narcotics and the doctors who live by them.
Masking pain by putting poison in your body is no solution and should not be seen
as one. While I can understand the use in hospitals for emergency and trauma,
personal pain management at home with pills and narcotics only sets you up for
awful side effects that they combat with even more pills that give you even more
side effects. One being a loss of appetite which has been known to correct itself
with the appropriate use of medical marijuana. Before you know it, you are taking
over 6 different medications one to two times a day finding yourself addicted
somewhere in the middle. America is an embarrassing country for so many reasons,
narcotic addiction being one of the biggest. Legalizing medical and recreational
marijuana is on the fast

Advertising Tactics Budweiser has used its commercial advertisements to make their
beer seem like the it beer to drink. With having their target market age range from 19
30, their commercials are filled with partying and humour. With the majority of their
consumers being men, the commercials are filled with party scenes with girls dressed
up in bud bikinis.
Marketing Research Problem Definition
Opportunities
Considering Budweiser has targeted the male market with their advertisements for
decades, we have seen an opportunity to target Budweiser towards women
particularly, women who are in college/university or young professionals between
the ages of 19 30. A typical ad with sexy girls serving beer to buff males may not
encourage women to move towards beer. With many male orientated slogans and
campaigns including The King of Beers and Bud Camp , Budweiser has isolated
many potential female consumers from buying their products. Good point.
Although the numbers of female beer drinkers are growing, they are still
considered a rare breed. In July 2010, Gallup poll stated that the percentage of
women who prefer beer over wine or liquor was only 27%. This is up 6% from their
2009 poll. Excellent stat. This shows us that the popularity of this product is
increasing by women and shows us that this new target market we have selected may
work
27. A Further Analysis Of Report Of Wild Children Essay
Another important factor that plays a role in the development of the monster and
feral children is the presence of abuse and trauma. Abuse and trauma play a role in
the development of the creature and feral children because it affect their cognition,
behavior, their idea of self worth, and their ability to connect with others. Wayne
Dennis s essay, A Further Analysis of Reports of Wild Children , asserts that because
of being in conditions of constant stress and threat [from abuse and trauma], children
may have trouble utilizing their cognitive skills (155). Furthermore, Dennis asserts
that because of the conditions that the children experienced they exhibited behaviors
that can be only be conveyed as erratic and volatile (153). In addition,... Show more

These are also true for the monster. The presence of abuse and trauma during the
development of the monster affected his cognition, behavior, his idea of self worth,
and his ability to connect with others. The monster having experienced abuse and
trauma from his interaction with humans before, he become traumatized with
violence. This is highlighted when he saw Felix was about to strike him for the
second time he was overcome by pain and anguish, [he] quitted the cottage (Shelley
95) to escape. Furthermore, his behavior also becomes erratic and volatile. This is
shown when he wished to tear up the trees, spread havoc and destruction, and then
sit down and enjoy the ruin (Shelley 95) after his interaction with the De Laceys. In
addition, it is evident that his perception of himself is as a wretch , even saying All
men hate the wretched; how then must I be hated, who am miserable beyond all
living things! (Shelley 67 68). Finally, because of his experience with the barbarity
of man , he is very cautious when approaching other people. This was displayed
when he longed to join [the De Laceys], but dared
29. 1910-1970 Great Migration
During 1910 1970 the great migration was taking place, which was the movement of
southern African American s to the north/northern cities. The great migration was an
event that seemed as if it was unstoppable and that it was going to happen. In the
South African American s faced racial discrimination, sharecropping, bad working
conditions, low wages, racial segregation and political detriments. Everything in the
north was better than the south. The north offered blacks, less discrimination, job
opportunities, higher wages and a better standard of living overall. The great
migration led to the improvement of the conditions for African Americans in America.
Life in the south for African Americans was nothing but a new form of slavery.
Most African American s were sharecroppers making little to no money to live
while being oppressed by white southerners. Daily life in the south for African
American s was full of insults, rude looks, persecution and discrimination as well
as the constant risk of being killed. African American s in the south hated living
there but, felt as if they had no other choice at the time it was the first and only
available option for southern slaves after the civil war. African American s wanted a

30. Prince Hal Character Analysis
When one thinks of a leader who takes a risk, they usually picture someone who is
already in power and has to risk losing everything to better themselves, the people
they re leading or both. However, this is not the case for Prince Hal. Prince Hal
takes significant risks before even being in a position of ultimate power. In order to
become the best version of himself and Henry V, Prince Hal must risk his reputation
and his closest relationships. In Henry IV, the audience sees Prince Hal start as a
wayward royal son who has fallen into the behavioral pattern of a degenerate. He
spends his time at bars and brothels with people who are of a much lower; if not the
lowest; social status than himself. Hal s own father has little faith in his son, even
wishing that he had a son more like Hotspur, and leaves the people of England with
the lowest standards of how Hal will do when he becomes king. Since Hal is the
only person that knows he is only doing this in order to educate himself on the type
of people he will be leading, Hal knows he is putting his entire reputation on the
line. From the very beginning of Henry IV, Prince Hal tells the audience that he
will one day shed the cloud that his low class friends have cast on his reputation to
emerge as a glorious king and impress his followers all the more. While Hal s
reputation is redeemable, the relationships that he risks are just as important. When
Hal becomes friends with the people who engage in this bar life, he is doing it
31. The Trial Of Tom Robinson
There were several legal issues present before and during this particular case that
prevented any sort of a fair trial from taking place. The largest legal issue that can
be seen in the demise of Tom s true innocence, sometimes blatantly, is that of
perjury. The definition of perjuring oneself is to make false or misleading
statements under oath , or basically lying when you have promised to tell the truth.
As I stated earlier, this lack of honesty can truly break down the integrity of the
justice system, because it is built on gaining facts and building an accurate picture
of the case currently being tried. If everyone were to lie and tell their own story
about what had taken place, we would never be able to put the puzzle together and
allow the juryto fairly judge the defendant. And albeit the trialof Tom Robinson was
never to be tried in a just and unquestionable manner, the further lies made by those
that testified made it even harder for Atticus to prove innocence. This particular
claim is focused almost specifically on Mayella s story, and the several cracks and
gaps that can be found within it. She has to convince herself before she can claim
that her father had never hurt her previously. She also begins to forget pieces of the
fabrication, as she cannot remember if she was beaten during the rape, or how that a
man with only one working arm could ve taken advantage of her at all. At the end of
her testimony, where she simply stops asking questions, makes a demand

A Serene Proposition
For getting rid of all unwanted noises across the United States, and for making a

It is a disturbing noise to those fellow Americans who desire to sleep in past six o

wife started to make herself a post run smoothie. These noises do not just stop there

The average lawn size in an american home is 8700 square feet. Researchers have
converted this number to 26 million blades of grass. Cutting 280 blades of grass
every three seconds, one would finish the yard in approximately four thousand
sixty six minutes and without a sound. That s about three days nonstop, so a more
realistically, it would take a week to two weeks for a nicely cut yard. Coincidentally,
it takes two to three weeks for the grass to grow tall enough to cut it again. Just like
we Americans load up laundry over and over again, we will do this for the lawn. Yes,
we already do this but now it won t be such a burden on our ears. The lawn mower is
just an example of many possible changes that we Americans can make to create a

Nichols
The Graduate by Mike Nichols has many film techniques that the director has place in
to the film that we can see. Mike Nichols has chosen many of techniques that can be
picked out throughout the whole sequence in the beginning of the film. Mike Nichols
most noticeable choice to use in his film is the setting and symbolism during the
sequence.
To begin analyzing the setting and symbolism it begins with Ben on an airplane
going back to Los Angeles which shows us that this film will take place at that
location but there are many symbolism in all in this short sequence. First of all as
Ben is coming off the airport and onto the moving conveyor belt with a blank
expressionless face. This shows that Ben is lost and confused like a robot coming off

IRAQ WAR A DISASTER 2
Was the Iraq War a Disaster? From 1979 to 2003 Saddam Hussein ruled Iraq in a
brutal dictatorship. The first action taken against Hussein s regime began in 1990
when Iraq invaded and annexed Kuwait. In a coalition led by the United States, Great
Britain, and Saudi Arabia, Saddam Hussein was defeated. From that point the United

barrell during the Iraq War. This led to an increWhen the United States first went

time in American history that a president took us into a war and cut taxes (Farley,
2009, p. 1). Typically, taxes rise during times of war to help compensate for the
cost of fighting. With lowered tax rates prior to and during the Iraq War the United
States was put in a difficult predicament. We were required to borrow large sums of
money from other countries to finance the war. This is a large part of why we are
struggling with a national debt issue today. As of today the United States has
accumulated over $18 trillion in national debt. Of that $18 trillion, one third can
be attributed to the Iraq War. The amount of money we owe to other countries isn t
shrinking either. Our debt has increased by an average of $3.25 billion since 2012.
If the amount we owe was divided amongst every taxpaying citizen in the United

law basically derives most of its features from the Communications Act of 1934 ( the

more on advancement in technology based on competition rather than monopoly. The
ultimate motive of this Act was to bring about major changes in the
telecommunication arena.
This new Act basically portrays the idea that the service providers should not be

Discussion
Interactions between the gut microbiota and the host immune system begin at birth.
Some epidemiological studies suggest that C section babies may have an elevated
risk for developing immune and metabolic disorders, including Type 1 diabetes,
allergies, asthma and obesity. Scientists have theorized that these children may be
missing key bacteria known to play a large role in shaping the immune system from
the moment of birth onward. Babies delivered by cesarean section (C section)
acquire a microbiota that differs from that of vaginally delivered infants, and C
section delivery has been associated with increased risk for immune and metabolic
disorders. Dominguez Bello et al conducted a pilot study in which infants delivered
by C section were exposed to maternal vaginal fluids at birth. A mother s vaginal
fluids loaded with one such essential bacterium,
42. The Tradition Of War Poetry Essay
The Tradition Of War Poetry
By comparing and contrasting a selection of war poems consider the ways in which
attitudes to war have been explored and expressed. When considering poetry written
post 1900 concentrate on a selection of poems written by Wilfred Owen.
Humans have turned to poetry in many different instances as a way of expressing
them selves, using the best combination of words, in the best order to express
exactly how they are feeling at that moment. Poetry is one of the most powerful
means of communication that uses words very sparingly, and often defines the era in
which the poet lived and died. I think that is why many poems are written about war,
as anyone who was involved in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He also uses strong metaphors to describe how the men should fight in the battle,
such as imitate the action of the tiger. This line prepares the troops psychology as
well as physically by saying that they should be strong, courageous and fierce like
the animal. The poem is also very patriotic, and talks of how the men should not
disgrace their mothers or ancestors. Like the poem The Soldier by Rupert Brooke, it
presents the idea that dying for your country would be a good, brave thing to do and
is in a way a sense of duty towards their mother England.
This poem is not wholly positive or negative. It gives war a good image by making
it sound courageous and noble but it also expresses some horrific images such as,
Or close the wall with our English dead. I think that the last line of the poem, Cry,
God for Harry, England and Saint George. sums up the overall message of the poem
by ending in a strong religious line, using a group of 3 to make the speech effective,
and emphasising the fact that their cause is a righteous one.
Although The Charge Of The Light Brigade does put much importance on the idea
of how brave and courageous the men fighting were it also creates a different
message compared to The Battle Of Harfleur from Henry V. I think what Alfred
Tennyson was trying to do in this poem was to convey and explain what mistakes
43. Meursault Dialectical Journal
Part 1, Section 1: We are first introduced to Meursault, the novel s narrator and
protagonist, where he is presented with his mother s death. He doesn t know exactly
when she died, but just knows that she has passed. This then leads to his journey
there, from asking for the day off from his boss, catching the bus, attending the night
vigil for his other, and finally walking her to the funeral. Throughout this section he is
very emotionless, almost distant about the whole situation. He doesn t really have an
explanation for not wanting to see his mothers coffin, or how he doesn t know her
exact age. Here we get a little glimpse of how amoral Meursault is, and we see a bit
of foreshadow for what is to come.
Part 1, Section 2: Meursault suddenly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On their way to the bus, they see the Arabs and the brother of the mistress Raymond
assaulted. When they made it to the house, they all had lunch and enjoyed the nice
crisp water and enjoyed the sun. After lunch, they went on a walk where they found
the arabs, and Raymond stabbed one of them. They got back and then Meursault
went back for a walk, and found another arab sitting there. Then randomly he started
to feel heat, a blinding sensation which led him to then shoot this arab four times,
which killed the man. Here we see that This chapter represents the climax of the first
part of the book. Since his return from his mother s funeral, everything that Meursault
has done in the narrative up to this point meeting Marie, meeting Raymond, and
becoming involved in the affair with Raymond s mistress has led him to the beach
house. Yet Meursault s murder of the Arab comes as a complete surprise nothing in
The Stranger has prepared us for it. The feeling of abruptness that accompanies this
shift in the plot is intentional on Camus s part. He wants the murder to happen
unexpectedly and to strike us as
44. Similarities Between Mesopotamia And Egyptian
Civilization
Roots of Western civilization are found in the Middle East, which is Turkey,
Palestine, and Mesopotamia. In Greek Mesopotamia means the land between two
rivers, the Tigris and Euphrates in today s Iraq. Mesopotamia was a collection of
assorted cultures who were bonded by their script, their gods, and their attitude
towards women. Mesopotamiais known as the cradle of civilization because of the
rise of the city as we recognize that entity today and the invention of writing. Egyptis
often referred to as the gift of the Nilebecause it is located in the largest and driest
desert in the world, the Sahara. Egypt had a peaceful and continuous development
compared to other ancient civilizations. Isolation kept foreign influences and ideas
from distorting their cultural balance and they were free from foreign invasion for
most of their history. Egypt was a unified country with one people, one language, and
one religion. The Mesopotamian and the Egyptian civilization are very similar yet
different in their own ways.
The culture of Mesopotamia was one of droughts, floods, survival, and innovations.
They had no lasting stability or balance because invasions by other civilizations
brought new ideas. There was no structure or balance and they tended to go from one
crisis to another. One the other hand, the Egyptian civilization was very balanced and
organized. The Maat was the will of the gods that contained order, justice, and
righteousness. It established a moral order and
45. Pros And Cons Of Japan Government
The 1955 system, time known as the one in which Japanese government was under
the control of a one party dominated and conservative structure that lasted over nearly
forty years, the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) coming from the union of two
conservatives parties: the Japan Democratic Party and Liberal Party, was a functional
structure that showed a relative stability and consistency within the state against its
opposition counterpart, the Japan Socialist Party (JSP). The system s notable
elements mainly consisted in anti labor and pro business policies that protected the
home market from outside influence with low levels of social welfare spending,
making Japan pass through a growth period though, at the same time, such system
presented cases of Diet s unconstitutionalism, corruption scandals, and a lack of
organization in more than one aspect.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The LDP also had desires for close security ties with the US and supported the
presence of American bases in Japan, a stance opposed by the JSP. In the 1958
election, the LDP, unable to reach its goal of constitutional revision, won 60% of
the seats and secured its place as the ruling party , and though while not being able
to revise the Constitution, much more of a support for US presence and relying in
American protection made Japan finally being able to endeavor economic growth
policies, feature that also created a wide base of support for this ruling
46. Change In Film
Film, being both visual and audible, has become a power source of art throughout
its development. In many cases, films are used as a way to promote social change.
The 2000 X Men film can be seen as a cry for equality. A supernatural film about
mutants versus humans sends an underlying message about how people may not
feel accepted or like they fit in just because they don t conform to society. During
the mid 1950s and early 1960s movies were used to express the desire to break free,
as a people, from the ideals of perfection and gender norms as America underwent a
huge social change that quickly became known as The Sexual Revolution. (Escoffier,
Sexual Revolution). Films such as Douglas Sirk s All That Heaven Allows (1955),

Then the pressures of society weigh down on her and cause her to go back on her
feelings, which on it s own conveys that if you want to be happy, you need to be
your own person. Rebel Without a Cause (1955) is about a troubled teenage boy
that wants to find a purpose in life despite being neglected by his parents and
feeling as if he didn t belong in his society. This ultimately leads to a tragic end for
him and it sends the message that not being accepted isn t okay. Some Like It Hot
(1959) is about men who dress as women to escape thugs and the women they meet
who march to the beat of their own drum. This movie was heavily considered against
the norm but was made despite American film censorship s contempt. Men in
women s clothing was extremely looked down upon, which made this movie bold
and inspirational to anyone who felt like they wanted to do or be something or
someone although it might be heavily frowned upon ( Some Like It Hot (1959)

the already preconceived notions we have already formed about gender and how that
plays into movie making and
47. The Role Of Football In H. G. Bissinger s Friday Night
Lights
For many people, football is not just a sport. The book Friday Night Lights by H.G.
Bissinger is set in Odessa, Texas where thousands of people would line up to buy
tickets for the Permian Panthers football games, not because they enjoyed watching
football, but because of the hope and inspiration that resonated throughout the field
during a game. Even the players were able to recognize this feeling of invincibility
because whatever they fantasized about, it all seemed possible that day when they
were playing football(24). Football becomes an outlet for the fans that draws the
attention away from the complexities of their lives and directs it towards a game that
promotes innocence and hope for them. Football transforms Odessa from a bleak,
hopeless town into a place where anyone s wildest... Show more content on

One of the main reasons people in Odessa were always so crazy about football was
because they needed an escape from the complications in their everyday lives.
Odessa was considered a boom and bust oil town, where sometimes the town was
prosperous and produced a plentiful amount of oil while at other times it
experienced a decline in resources, which could cause a large amount of
unemployment for the town. This made Odessa a transient town, a place to come
to and make money when the boom was on and then get as far away from as
possible with the inevitable setting in of the bust (29). Because of this uncertainty in
the economy, many people were not doing as well as they might have been doing in
another town, but despite this, they did not move away for one common reason: the
Permian Panthers. The fans in Odessa were not paying to see a
48. A Theory Of Justice By Rawls
In his book A Theory of Justice , Rawls was dissatisfied with the traditional
philosophical arguments about what makes a social institution just and about what
justifies political or social actions and policies. The utilitarian argument holds that
societies should pursue the greatest good for the greatest number. This argument has
a number of problems, including, especially, that it seems to be consistent with the
idea of the tyranny of majorities over minorities. The intuitionist argument holds that
humans intuit what is right or wrong by some innate moral sense. This is also
problematic because it simply explains away justiceby saying that people know it
when they see it and it fails to deal with the many conflicting human intuitions.
Rawls attempts to establish a reasoned account of social justice through the social
contract approach. This approach holds that a society is in some sense an agreement
among all those within that society. If a society were an agreement, Rawls asks,
what kind of arrangement would everyone agree to? He states that the contract is a
purely hypothetical one: He does not argue that people had existed outside the social
state or had made agreements to establish a particular type of society.
Rawls begins his work with the idea of justice as fairness. He identifies the basic
structure of society as the primary subject of justice and identifies justice as the first
virtue of social institutions. He considers justice a matter of the organization
49. Analysis Of Oliver Sacks s The Man Who Mistook His
Wife...
In Oliver Sacks book, The Man Who Mistook His Wife for A Hat, Sacks tells us
about one man, Jimmie G, who has Korsakoff s syndrome. Korsakoff syndrome
(KS) is characterized by dense anterograde and retrograde amnesia. There is often
a temporal gradient to the retrograde amnesia, with earlier memories more readily
recalled than recent memories. Executive functioning has also been found to be
impaired in KS (Maharasingam, et al., 2013, p. 501). Korsakoff syndrome is most
often attributed to the deficiency of thiamin, which can happen in individuals who
have, or have had a severe drinking problem. Jimmie G is an older gentleman;
mentioned by Sacks as kind and intelligent. At first glimpse, one could even
wonder why he was in the hospital at all. After a short talk, however Sacks
discovers that Jimmie does not remember anything that has happened in his life for
the last 25 years. In fact, he still believes that he is a nineteen year old young man
who is in the Navy, with his entire life still ahead of him. Oliver Sacks shows
Jimmie a mirror; he in shock and confusion does not understand why he is a grey
haired old man. Sacks, goes on to explain that after Jimmie left the Navy in 1965,
Jimmie lost the structure and routine that he needed and took to alcohol as a coping
mechanism. As a result Jimmie developed Korsakoff s syndrome, which has
completely stripped him from all of his past memories, and the inability to form any
new memories as well. Even when Sacks leaves the room

Over 6,000 Miles Away: The European Empire Influence in Modern Day South Africa
In South Africa, ethnic groups with contrasting heritages can include Dutch, British,
German, French, English, Zulu, Xhosa, and Basotho people ( Ethnic Groups ). The
Dutch, Afrikaans, Zulu, and English language is also scattered throughout the
provinces, these being used by the majority of the population. This diverse set of
people mainly practices Christianity, but also encompasses Islam, Hinduism and
Judaism. Although each of these ethnic groups may speak a different language,
practice a different religion, or even have a different appearance and heritage, these
people are all similar as they are all South Africans. The population of the white
majority in South Africa, with defined cultural factors, has come from the European
colonization of Cape Town, South Africa. Through many overcome cultural
boundaries and obstacles, to forming a discriminatory government structure, and now,
where these two ethnic groups have changed and created what South Africa is today,
it is inevitable that the effects of white colonization has changed the lifestyle of
generations of families in South Africa. The European powerhouses of the colonial
generation, primarily the Netherlands and Great Britain, imposed a profound
influence on present day South African life.
The most basic point in understanding early colonial settlement of South Africa is
51. The Nba Makes A Profit
The NBA makes a profit in many ways, for example the NBA makes millions of
dollars off of sponsorships, television contracts and selling merchandise. The
National Basketball Association recently signed a new TV agreement with TNT
and ESPN to approximately make $2.6 billion per season. Even with a total of 400
or so odd active players making an average of close to $5 million annually, national
TV contracts generate enough revenue to cover salaries and then some.
This graph depicts league revenue of the National Basketball Association from the
2001/02 season to the 2014/15 season (Statistica, 2016). As seen the chart above
clearly indicates the NBA makes a profit and has been gradually increasing
throughout the years, except for the season of 2011/12 but that s because the season
was shorted due to the lockout that had taken place.
The NBA has many different sponsors. Sponsorship spending On the NBA Totals
$739 Million in 2014 2015 Season up 8.9 percent from the previous year, according
to IEG research. A list of the NBA sponsors are Anheuser Busch, Gatorade, Coca
cola, Adidas, Miller Coors, Kia Spalding, Geico and etc. Anheuser Busch is the most
active sponsor of the NBA. In time insurance overtook autos to become the most
active category sponsoring the NBA. Insurance companies are five times more likely
to sponsor professional basketball than the average of all sponsors, according to the
research. Auto and beer are the second and third most active categories.
52. Media Coverage On Afric Ethnic Conflict And Civil War
Media Coverage in Africa Ethnic conflict and civil war is a recurrent phenomena
affecting many countries in Africa, and has been ignored, oversimplified and
overlooked by majority of the Western world. Despite the decades of conflict, and
loss of life, when the media does cover conflict in Africa, the damage has already
been done. For an example, the awareness regarding the Rwandan Crisis was very
delayed and action was taken too late, causing the deaths of thousands of lives.
In 1994, Rwanda s population consisted of seven million people and was composed
of three ethnic groups: Hutu, Tutsi, and Twa. Ranging between 85% for Hutu
population, 14% for Tutsi, and 1% for Twa. In the early 1990 s, the Hutus blamed all

While Rwanda was having one sided bloodbath, the rest of the world thought this
was a resolution to the Hutu take over of the late 1950 s. When the crisis finally
came to light, the media harshly criticized the United Nations for not recognizing
the conflict as a genocide sooner, and reacting to prevent it. However, the media
must share blame for failing to provide notice of the genocide. In remote places of
the world where significant information intelligence is not abundant, the news
business is highly relied upon to act as a system of warning; in Rwanda, the media
did not fulfill this role.
Between 1976 and 1978, a Marxist government in Ethiopia killed approximately
five hundred thousand of the the country s citizens in a a bloodbath called the Red
Terror. The Terror came from a peaceful movement to end the rule of Emperor
Haile Selassie. The Emperor was deposed of in 1974 and military members known
as Derg took over. The Derg began rounding up and killing those suspected of being
members of a rebel force [3]. Another conflict without the role of the United Nations
or other Western governments intervening that would have prevented a multitude of
deaths in Ethiopia. By the end of the 1980 s, the regime was losing financial and
military support from the Soviet Union and even then, it still took as long as eleven
years afterward for the Ethiopian People s Revolutionary Democratic Front
