Leverage the Power of the Social Graph is the Powerpoint presentation from a PRSA sponsored webinar with Steve Momorella from TEKGROUP. The slides outline tips, tricks and examples of how to leverage the power of your social graph, your online newsroom, and your PR outreach efforts.
With this in mind, your brand will not simply need to
be on networks thanks to a Facebook fanpage by instance, you will also need to use social plugins on your website.
A real synergy will result from this complementarity between the brand website and the social networks.

Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

2. Social history, often called the new social history, is a branch of
History that includes history of ordinary people and their strategies
for managing and coping with life.
This presentation will focus on Facebook and the Facebook
User, (the people) and how they initiate, create, interact and develop
their personal and business relationships through Facebook. What
Facebook has to offer and how Facebook partners with them to help
decide which tools and apps are the most effective and productive
for that User and their goals.
JAMES SERGENT CAOT150, Social Media For Business
3. As defined by Facebook developers the Facebook Platform has evolved
into a standards-based Web service with methods for accessing and
contributing to Facebook data. Mark Zuckerberg, founder of
Facebook, wrote the first “The Facebook” in PHP, known then as
“Personal Home Page”. Today Facebook is written in an updated
version of PHP known as “PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor“. As the
needs grew, servers had to be incorporated and “HIPHOP for PHP” was
added. HIPHOP, is a source code transformer built by Facebook
engineers that turns PHP into C++, a server language.
JAMES SERGENT CAOT150, Social Media For Business
4. The name Facebook, stems from the colloquial name for the book given
to students at the start of the academic year by some university
administrations to help students get to know each other. There have
been many psychological analysis of Facebook and its users… but it is
generally believed that Facebook’s individual user identity is developed
a) through comparison of other individuals b) through opinions one
believes that others have of them c) Social and cultural comparisons.
An individual first creates a Facebook Page and posts photos and other
personal points of interest and then shares them with their
Friends, Groups or Communities. As the individual’s identity develops so
does their Facebook Page and involvement in Facebook.
JAMES SERGENT CAOT150, Social Media For Business
5. Upon creating a new account Facebook inserts “Browser Cookies” &
Session Cookies” into your web browser. These cookies not only
track your activities while you are on Facebook but also track all your
browsing destinations and habits.
Facebook's efforts to track the browsing habits of their
members, users and visitors to its site have made the company a
player in the "Do Not Track" debate, which focuses on whether
consumers should be able to prevent websites from tracking the
consumers' online activities and habits.
JAMES SERGENT CAOT150, Social Media For Business
6. Facebook is a social networking service and website launched in
February 2004. Today, Facebook has more than 900 million active
users. Users can communicate with friends and other users through
private or public messages and a chat feature. They can also create
and join interest groups and "like pages“. Some groups & pages
are maintained by organizations as a means of advertising. A 2012
Pew Internet and American Life study identified that between 20–
30% of Facebook users are "power users" who frequently
link, poke, post and tag themselves and others.
JAMES SERGENT CAOT150, Social Media For Business
7. Users must register before using the site, after which they may
create a personal profile, add other users as friends, and exchange
messages, including automatic notifications when they update their
profile. Additionally, users may join common-interest user
groups, organized by workplace, school or college, or other
characteristics, and categorize their friends into lists such as "People
From Work" or "Close Friends". Users can also upload photos and
images connected to their groups and interests. Facebook allows any
users who declare themselves to be at least 13 years old to become
registered users.
JAMES SERGENT CAOT150, Social Media For Business
8. By definition, Facebook is a community. Likewise, Facebook
users can also create their own communities by simply
creating a Facebook Page and then directing it to a specific
interest, institution, or group. Like, Retriever Breeders and
making that group exclusive to include only owners and
breeders. You can also find FB community tools/apps at:

for-building-custom-pages-tabs/

9. Facebook Connect is a set of APIs (application programming
interfaces) from Facebook that enable Facebook members to log onto
third-party websites, applications, mobile devices and gaming systems
i.e., Twitter, YouTube, Linkedin, Majorleaguegaming… with their
Facebook identity. While logged in, users can connect with friends via
these media and post information and updates to their Facebook profile.
Developers can use these services to help their users connect and share
with their Facebook friends on and off of Facebook and increase
engagement for their website or application.
JAMES SERGENT CAOT150, Social Media For Business
10. With Facebook’s new apps and add-ons users can host events, advertise their
products and services and promote their businesses. Facebook has become the
go-to networking site for marketers. A few of Facebook’s marketing tools:
Inside Facebook: The blog and Facebook Platform.
Facebook's Ads Page: Provides business owners with self-service solutions.
Sponsored Groups: Sponsor your own group on Facebook or purchase a link.
5 Moneymaking Opportunities: Moneymaking strategies, advertising +.
Facebook Ads: Advertising, social ads, profile pages and more.
