6 Million Ways To Log In Docker - NYC Docker Meetup 12/17/2014Christian Beedgen
The document discusses various ways to log data from Docker containers, including:
1. Logging directly from applications by configuring them to send logs to syslog or using logging libraries.
2. Installing a file collector inside each container or as its own container to collect logs written to files within containers.
3. Installing a syslog collector container and linking containers to it so they can send logs to the collector via syslog.
4. Mounting the host's /dev/log directory in containers so their processes write to the host's syslog.
Catching up with what has happened with logging in Docker since late 2014 all the way up to the recently released Docker 0.10. Also, presenting my view on a comprehensive approach to monitoring Docker using the API to get events, logs, stats with a little bit of self promotion in pointing out that we have recently released an implementation of comprehensive monitoring as part of a Sumo Logic collector source.

Hundreds of entrepreneurs have hit the ground running this year. Together we’re a part of movement, of people choosing to control their own futures by starting a business. Together we’re a community and we have momentum.
Much like the President’s State of the Union, or a State of the City Address, we organized the State of the Startup Community Address to let you know what we’ve collectively accomplished this year, and what to look forward to next year.
We present the good, the bad, and the ugly, with no fluff.

LAND USE LAND COVER AND NDVI OF MIRZAPUR DISTRICT, UPRAHUL
This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
help of Advanced technologies like Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems is
crucial for coordinated efforts across different administrative levels. Advanced technologies like
Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems

Changes in vegetation cover refer to variations in the distribution, composition, and overall
structure of plant communities across different temporal and spatial scales. These changes can
occur natural.

Hi everyone and thank you for joining us this afternoon for our webinar “CanadaHelps: New Tools and Features”. This webinar will serve as a sneak peek into the exciting new tools and features that will be available to you with the launch of the new CanadaHelps site, which we’re anticipating to go live within just one week. We’re in the final stretch of finalizing the new site, which our developers have been working very hard on over the past little while.
The new site has been designed with the specific needs of both our charity partners and donors in mind, so thank you to everyone who has provided feedback and of course for all of your patience and your support throughout.
Some of this webinar is a reiteration of a couple of our previous webinars, such as the detailed review of the new charity profiles and campaigns pages, but I’ll show you additional new features as well, such as the new thank you tool, new charity search and CanadaHelps homepage.
My name is Cindy Galluzzo and I work on the charity engagement team at CanadaHelps. I’ll be presenting the webinar today and answering your questions at the end of the presentation.
I actively gather feedback and ideas about our charity training, fundraising tools and services, so please feel free to get in touch with me at any time. If you have any questions about updating your new charity profiles or adding campaigns, I can help you with that too. I can be reached directly at communications@canadahelps.org.
First, just a few admin, house-keeping details…just a reminder that you will be able to hear me speaking throughout the presentation but I cannot hear you. That said, I still want to hear your questions so if you have them throughout the presentation, simply type them out into the Questions Log. I’ll be available for a question and answer period at the end of the presentation.
If you’re having any trouble hearing me, simply turn up your computer’s volume and you should be able to hear me loud and clear. If you’re still having trouble hearing me, look for the Audio options on your GoToWebinar panel and click sound check. A box should pop up, click the speakers tab on the right, and then make sure the volume is turned way up. That should do the trick.
For the best webinar experience, it’s best to close any applications that you have open so that the sound syncs up with the changing of the slides on the screen.
Just a final note, I will share the links to the slides with you in an email, following the presentation today, so that you’re able to circulate them with your board or your staff or anyone else who might be interested. I am also recording the webinar this afternoon and I’ll share the link to that in tonight’s email as well.
And just before we begin, I think most of you are aware of CanadaHelps but for those of you who aren’t, CanadaHelps is a registered charity and a public foundation. We’ve facilitated over $400 million dollars in charitable donations since we were founded in 2000 and over 14,500 charities have signed up with us for online fundraising.
For donors we like to say that we’re a one-stop shop for giving and for charities we like to say that we’re an online fundraising solution that is affordable, easy and secure. We’re also a charity helping charities which is why we put on this training webinar series at no cost, for charities across the country who are needing to learn about fundraising, donor acquisition, technology and other important topics.
Alright, let’s get started.
Today we’ll cover…
The new CanadaHelps homepage and charity search
Campaign pages and the new campaigns browsing section
Your new charity profile
Fundraising pages
And the new thank you tool.
When you visit the new CanadaHelps.org, the first thing you’ll notice is that we’ve given the CanadaHelps website a complete makeover, with an entirely new layout and bright beautiful colours. The goal is to immediately engage donors who land on the CanadaHelps homepage and provide them with many opportunities to discover and support causes that they care about.
We’ll be featuring select charity campaigns right on this CanadaHelps homepage, so be sure to add at least one campaign and make it as compelling as possible. I’ll show you how to do that in just a few moments.
Donors can still search charities by category, and now they can even further narrow their results by scope of mission (for example: local, provincial, national, etc.) and language. They can also search for fundraising pages and campaign pages.
You’ll want to make sure that your charity is as searchable as possible, so we recommend that you go to preview.canadahelps.org (do not include the www.) and make sure that you confirm your charity’s categories (you can choose up to three categories) and subcategories. You’ll want to enter a summary description so that donors can find you by keyword, and you’ll want to select your scope of mission.
I just want to mention that our development team is aware that some charities have had difficulties logging in with their current CanadaHelps username and password. If you experience any issues, send us a quick email at communications@canadahelps.org.
The next item on our list that so many charities are super excited about is the new campaigns-browsing section for donors! Donors will be able to scroll through all of the active campaigns before clicking to learn more and donate. This is like an Indiegogo or Kickstarter style browsing feature, but for discovering charitable projects that need funding. It’s another way for new donors to find out about your work and give to support your cause.
You may have seen some of our emails encouraging you to highlight your funds and initiatives by creating campaign pages. When you create a campaign page, donors will be able to discover it in this new section here. They can search campaign pages and even filter the results to find something specific that they’re interested in.
When a donor clicks on one of these campaign cards, they’ll see the full version of the charity’s campaign page.
Here’s an example of a campaign page.
Campaign pages allow your organization to highlight various aspects of your mission that require funding. These could be active fundraising campaigns, programs you run, or any other part of the work that you do that would benefit from its own page to explain the work and impact. Live campaigns will be showcased in the campaigns browsing section on CanadaHelps and also on your charity’s profile page.
You can add photos, videos and a compelling campaign description. You can set a campaign start and end date, as well as a fundraising goal to add a sense of urgency, which is important for motivating donors. As donors give, the fundraising thermometer fills up. You’ll notice the large eye-catching Donate Now button located at the top of the page.
I just want to mention that there is some flexibility when setting your fundraising goal or start and end dates. If you have set a fundraising goal, then it’s not required that you set an end date. If you have set an end date, then it’s not required to set a fundraising goal. This gives you the flexibility to highlight almost any kind of fund.
Another improvement we’re excited about is the new donation flow, found right on your campaign and charity profile pages. It’s more visually appealing and designed to make the transaction as quick and easy for donors as possible.
As always, you’re able to set fund designations for donors to choose from when they make donations, include a message or donation in honour or in memory of someone and send a free e-card.
Donors are also able to donate securities from this screen. CanadaHelps processes donations of securities for all charities in Canada. This has been especially valuable for smaller organizations or donors who want to spread their donation to more than one organization.
The new fundraise tab will allow supporters to quickly create a CanadaHelps fundraising page (formerly known as Giving Pages) for your cause.
You can suggest donations for both one-time and monthly giving and there will always be an option that allows donors to choose their own amount.
Donors are more compelled to give when you communicate the tangible outcome of their donations. With the new site, you can include impact statements for each of your suggested donations. In this campaign, you can see that for just $25 you can feed a therapy horse for one week.
I’ll show you a couple campaigns that I thought did a great job of taking advantage of the new features available.
Again, we’re always looking for new campaigns to feature on our CanadaHelps homepage. If you set up your campaign and you think it’s showcase-worthy, please feel free to send me your campaign URL.
In this example, the charity Change for Children wants to fundraise $25,000 to equip families in the Biosphere Reserve of Northern Nicaragua with eco-stoves. They explain that the traditional indoor open-fire stoves used in Central America result in high levels of indoor air pollution leading to severe respiratory problems, which is the leading cause of death for children under five in Latin America. One donation of $250 can equip a family with an eco-stove.
In this example, the charity Timeraiser has set a fundraising goal of $50,000. Funds raised through this campaign will be used to invest in the careers of emerging Canadian artists.
With the new CanadaHelps site, we’re giving your charity many tools to fundraise and attract new donors. It’s up to your charity to take advantage of them. Again, you can update your profile and add campaigns today, to ensure that they go live with the new CanadaHelps site, so that you can begin attracting new donors immediately.
To update your charity profile and add campaigns, visit our temporary site. Again, the URL is preview.canadahelps.org.
It may surprise some of you that a large number of donors on CanadaHelps come to our site first and then begin to search for a cause. It’s those donors – those that haven’t yet chosen which organization to support – that we want to help you reach. Let’s have a look at the new charity profiles on CanadaHelps and how they can help you reach more donors.
The About This Charity section is similar to the text space you have on your current profile. We have increased the amount of space you have available to tell your story. You’re also able to include formatting in this section, including headers and bullet lists. Because it’s so easy to update, we encourage you to keep this section updated with news, current events or appeals for non-financial contributions.
We recommend that you upload a new logo because it will look more clear and professional than the one you currently have in place.
You can add as many photos and videos as you want to your media carousel, but we recommend that you add at least five so that it fills up the media carousel like the one on this profile.
When a donor clicks on an image, it expands so they can see it in more detail and scroll through your media items at a larger size.
We’re really excited that you can now link to videos right from your CanadaHelps profile! YouTube is the second biggest search engine on the internet and an increasingly popular way for people to consume information online. From a recent study Google did to track donor behaviour online before making a donation, they found that donors who viewed a charity’s video were more likely to complete a donation in the following days and weeks.
To display videos on your new profile, you simply need to link to your existing Vimeo or YouTube videos.
Below the media carousel, you can see a new “What People Are Saying” section that allows your organization to include testimonials and quotes from supporters or media coverage. We know that social proof is a strong motivator for donors, and they are more likely to give if they see others supporting your cause. We encourage you to collect at least one quote to include in your profile .
Under the What People are Saying section, donors can see your mailing address, email address and visit your website. We also include a link to your charity’s profile on Charity Focus. If you are accredited under Imagine Canada’s Standards program, your seal will automatically be displayed here as well.
Once the new site launches, you will be able to edit your profile and add campaigns right from your CanadaHelps charity profile.
If you choose not to use the temporary site to update your profile in advance of the new CanadaHelps site launch, your current profile will migrate to the new site. That said, it will be missing photos, videos, testimonials, impact statements and all of the others new ways to compel donors to give. We recommend updating your profile before the site launches, so that you can begin attracting new donors right away. We’ll be promoting the new CanadaHelps site very heavily and we don’t want you to miss out.
Just before we move on, if you’re interested in watching the step-by-step video on how to complete your profile and add campaigns, you can visit our Vimeo channel at www.vimeo.com/canadahelps.
Donors can fundraise for the causes they care about using the new fundraising pages. Previously known as Giving Pages, these fundraising pages are more compelling than ever. Similar to the campaign pages, the fundraising pages will allow donors to include a media carousel with photos and videos, a fundraising goal, start and end date, description and more.
Fundraising pages are suitable for almost any occasion including birthdays, weddings, personal challenges, sporting events, fundraisers honouring a loved one and more. Donors simply need to choose a charity, set a fundraising goal, add photos and videos and then use the built-in sharing features or direct friends to the page’s unique URL.
As always, we take care of the donation processing and instant tax-receipts.
A ‘fundraise’ tab will be included right on your charity’s profile to help motivate donors to support your cause in more than one way.
Another very popular request that we’ve received from our charity partners is the ability to thank donors directly from charity accounts on CanadaHelps.
We want donors to feel connected to your charity every step of the way, right until the very end of the transaction.
We have developed a new Thank You tool that will allow you to quickly and easily thank donors who give to your organization. This tool will be available once the new site launches.
From the Donations tab in your CanadaHelps account, simply click the envelope next to each donation to send the donor a personalized thank you message.
Once you send your thank you message, the button’s icon will change . This allows you to easily distinguish who you have already thanked, without the risk of accidentally thanking someone twice. You can always go back to view a previously sent message. This feature is available for both disbursed and undisbursed donations.
When you receive an email notification indicating that someone has donated to you through CanadaHelps, we suggest that you follow-up with a timely thank you message to ensure that you can continue to build strong relationships with your donors.
I just want to mention that we will continue to add new features to this Thank You tool, such as the ability to save default messages and send to multiple recipients at once.
Our developers are constantly working hard to bring you new tools and features to help you fundraise online.
Some of the key items we’ll be working on after the site launch are peer-to-peer fundraising, customized donor tax-receipts, events management tools, a donation widget, and more!
The donation widget will allow donors to donate through your website, without being redirected to the CanadaHelps site first.
We’re always interested in hearing your feedback and learning about your charity’s needs.
If there are any tools or features that you’d love to see us offer, please email us at communications@canadahelps.org.
No suggestion is too big or too small. If it’s something that would save you time and make fundraising easier for you, please get in touch with us. It’s our goal to save you time and money so that you can focus your resources on your charitable mission.
I’ll be answering some questions very shortly so if you have them, now would be the time to type them into the question log on your screen.
I quickly just want to remind people that we have more upcoming webinars that you can register for on MyCharityConnects.org. We’ll be adding our new series of webinars very shortly so please check back often. Soon, you’ll see webinars for GivingTuesday, end-of-year fundraising tips, using new CanadaHelps tools, and more.
I’ll just leave this slide up if you have any questions about what you heard today or want to connect with CanadaHelps. Just a reminder that the links to the slides and webinar recording will be emailed to you later on this evening.
We do have some questions coming in and I’ll answer some of those now.
