Cado Alpha is an Inter-
collegiate competition that
seeks to bring out the best
among the cadets across
the state, to the grounds
of Alpha Arts and Science
College (AASC). Organ-
ised by AASC of 1 (TN) Ar-
moured Squadron NCC, this
is an opportunity for cadets
to exhibit their comrade-
ship.
This ultimate aim of
“Cado Alpha” is to moti-
vate the cadets to take part
in the RDC, TSC, VSC and
NSC held at New Delhi.
On Feb 25th and 26th, Al-
pha NCC Unit [1 (TN) Armd
Sqn NCC], organized Cado
Alpha for the third consecu-
tive year. Col. G. D. James,

and delivered the inaugural
Intercollegiate competition of Cado Alpha 2017
address.

Test, Flag Area, Best Ca-
det event was conducted
by Mr.Abhishek, best Ca-
det - Gold Medallist - 2013,

Competitions such as Solo
Instrumental, NIAP (Na-
tional Integration Aware-
ness Programme), Group
Song, Group Dance were
the events conducted.

‘Thuvakkam’ an NGO

a drive to clean government
higher secondary School in
KK Nagar.
Around 40 volunteers
of the NGO participated
in the drive through which
they cleaned the school,
removed the posters and
NGO cleans public places, invites volunteers
painted the walls of the
school and helped clearing
encroachments on the
nearby streets.
The volunteers
completed the work within
12 hours. The task was
carried out with the help of
city police.

Alpha Arts and Science College (Porur) its celebrated
Annual college day on March 18 in it premises.
The celebrations began with an invocation to the Lord Almighty.
The presidential address by the chairperson of the Alpha Group of Institutions Dr.Mrs.
Grace George was indeed very inspiring which kindled the importance of community
leadership and also emphasized on value system.
The guest of Honour for the day was Dr. Lakshmanasamy, Professor and Head,
Department of Econometrics, University of Madras and University Representative on
the Governing Body of Alpha Arts and Science College. He gave a valuable talk on
Women Education, Entrepreneurship and Entrepreneurial Development.
The Chief Guest for the progamme was Ms.Selvi Ravindran, Additional General
Manager, BHEL – Power Sector Southern Region, Chennai. She emphasized on
Perseverance and how it could help one win over anything in life. She also insisted on
being technically competent in today’s world and that the younger generation should
be willing to take risks in life in order to achieve success. She made a special mention
about Mr.Nandakumar, IRP, and currently Joint Commissioner of Income Tax. He also
added that when we change our expectations, we change the world.
Proficiency Prizes were distributed to students for Academic Excellence and cultural
activities for taking the institution to the forefront. The release of the Magazine (NEN)
took place as part of student activity.
Inaugural of the Incense Group Pvt.Ltd, started by two students namely Saurav of III
BT and Sriram of I BBA took place. The formal programmes came to an end with an
appreciation to the Alpha ENACTUS Team which has won laurels for “2030 Global Void
for Sustainable Entrepreneurship”.
The day’s celebration fervor started after the formal session with the cultural
programmes by students of various departments. The NRI dance by the NRI students
of the college was an exceptional one which made the students know different cultures
of the world. The College Day cultural programmes ended with the National Anthem.
