Program, beginning in June, offers undergraduate, graduate and certificate level courses in social media, web analytics, mobile marketing, media buying and more.
eLearning has grown significantly in recent years and is projected to continue growing. Enrollment in online classes increased by over 400,000 students from 2012 to 2013. Most institutions see online learning outcomes as being equal or better to traditional learning. While large online universities still lead the market, startups have entered the eLearning industry with new approaches. MOOCs, enrichment courses, and corporate training are expanding opportunities in non-credit online education. Cloud-based platforms allow schools to partner and offer online degrees. The worldwide eLearning market is projected to reach $51.5 billion by 2016, with North America reaching $27.1 billion.

Online education has evolved from traditional blackboards to websites and online platforms. Coursera is one of the largest MOOC platforms, connecting learners across primary, secondary, and tertiary education. It offers courses from top universities and has over 37 million registered users. While many register, only a small percentage complete courses, with business and technology courses being the most popular. Coursera has been successful in monetizing its platform through various means like charging universities and offering subscriptions to businesses. It has grown significantly in revenue and users in recent years and may be preparing for an IPO. However, some argue that online education still lacks collaborative and interactive elements that are important for learning.
The document provides feedback on student responses to a question about the significance of increasing hardware and content proliferation for media institutions and audiences. It notes several common errors made by students, including a lack of specific examples and outdated statistics. It also lists several key points that should have been considered in the response, such as how increasing hardware has positively and negatively impacted institutions and audiences. It emphasizes the need for case study examples that demonstrate how increasing content in terms of platforms, user-generated content, and multi-platform strategies have impacted both media companies and consumer behavior.
The E-rate program provides discounts of 20-90% on telecommunication services, internet access, and internal connections to help eligible schools and libraries access affordable technology. It is administered by USAC under the FCC and funded by a Universal Service fee charged to telecom companies. To qualify, schools must provide elementary or secondary education and be non-profit, with an endowment less than $50 million. The application process involves creating a technology plan, seeking competitive bids, confirming services, and invoicing. An example campus plan outlines equipment to enhance instruction. E-rate may help schools achieve their technology goals.

Capita helped develop an online portal with automated application processing, case management, and payment processing to streamline the service and reduce costs. The project faced challenges with timelines, integration, and user adoption, but was successful through stakeholder communication and user-centered design. Lessons included allowing time for refinement and rethinking management information for the new system.
Crankapp is a proposed market research platform that allows students to evaluate pieces of media for advertising agencies. It aims to provide a cheaper, more scalable alternative to traditional focus groups. The platform would be a website and iPhone application where students can quickly provide feedback on interactive online ads. This would help advertisers test campaigns in a low-risk way among the valuable but hard-to-reach college demographic. Initially, Crankapp plans to offer its services at zero profit to build a customer and user base, then charge advertisers $0.20 per feedback while scaling to other campuses. Potential issues include response bias and low barriers to entry for competitors.

The document discusses how education and information technology will evolve by 2020. It notes that technology will facilitate greater automation and self-service of low-value tasks, allowing students, faculty and administrators to focus on higher-value work. Institutions that do not take advantage of automation to increase efficiency and pace of operations will fall behind competitively. The role of IT will be to relentlessly automate tasks, optimize resources, and enable growth in areas like student success, research funding, and donor contributions in order to provide a competitive advantage.

This document summarizes a presentation on the future of information technology in higher education. It discusses how learning environments will evolve to include virtual, place-based, and mobile modalities. It also addresses how institutions can engage creative students by providing structures and tools to support knowledge creation. The classroom of the future will focus on active and collaborative learning through flexible classroom designs. Pedagogy will explore competency-based, game-based, and problem-based learning strategies to better engage and prepare students. Emerging technologies like virtual reality, augmented reality, and voice recognition will enhance the learning experience if made accessible and easy to use. Funding, preparation, and accessibility remain challenges to addressing these opportunities.

Mark Staples, Chief Information Officer at the College of Charleston, discussed how information technology will evolve to meet the needs of higher education in 2020. He noted that by 2020, higher education will be quite different from today, with more online and hybrid learning approaches. Significant barriers to change include the digital divide, lack of digital literacy skills, and need for new teaching approaches. Information technology leadership will need to shift from a focus on technology to digital strategies, and provide data analytics to support enrollment, retention, and student services.
This document provides an overview of wound healing, its functions, stages, mechanisms, factors affecting it, and complications.
