5. CONFLICT RESOLUTION DEFINITION Conflict arises when 2+ individuals perceive that their goals are in opposition. Five conflict resolution approaches will be explored through instruction. The team will engage in an exciting and challenging physical activity that entails resolving a conflict by using the newly gained conflict resolution techniques. 6. LISTENING DEFINITION Listening is a process that integrates physical, emotional, & intellectual inputs in a search for meaning & understanding. Listening must become the central focus if the individual is to become effective communicator The team uses the Hurier listening model to practice and improve this skill in a related listening activity. 7. MEMORY AID DEFINITION Mnemonics are any learning techniques that aid memory. Mnemonics rely on associations between easy-to-remember constructs such as special, personal, surprising or humorous information which can be related back to the data that is to be remembered. The learners can recover past information by getting to understand several recognition styles and then using one of four proven memorization methods. 8. NOTE TAKING DEFINITION the practice of recording information captured from a source such as, an oral discussion or a lecture. In order to be a good note taker one must be able to listen for main ideas.
